When i reboot for the first time. Using Boot CD after installing. The external HDD is not seen (when turned of and on )

Also when i try to boot from boot CD with external HDD on it does not work i.e the computer restarts.

Thanks

If you're using a USB external HD then you may need to try a different IOUSBFamily.kext

Hi!

Cheers for this great tutorial.

I'm running into a problem tho.

When I boot into the setup CD it get's to a certain point and then it just reboots.

AMD Phenom II 810

Asus M4N78 Pro Motherboard.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Cheers,

Firman

Nope after it reaches Charmeleon...

I swap the CD's and it get's to a certain point before setup appears so that would be the kernel log..

I'll see what i can do about videoing!

Cheers for fast response mate :(

(Hopefully I didn't waste money by buying the retail copy of SL :))

After installation and update to OSX 10.6.4 don't install Chameleon RC4, install this RC5 package with the prefs panel (selectable under optional installs):

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075

Then install legacy_kernel.

At reboot from HD use this Chameleon boot option: arch=i386 (This enables the 32bit mode!)

After making all Apple bla bla on desktop open the preferences and then open Chameleon prefs.

Go to Advanced and select arch and i386

Because of the default 64bit mode many users get a black screen or reboot after trying from HD after installation,

this should fix it :)

I have the following machine:

AMD Phenom II 1090T

Motherboard M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

4GB RAM

1TB HDD

SATA DVD drive

Video onboard ATI 4250

I have put my SATA controller to AHCI on BIOS.

To avoid possible conflicts I disabled USB 3.0.

I only managed to get to the installation program using the flags:

-v -f -x busratio=16 cpus=1

I have not tried all combinations though, I would like to learn more about those options or a better set if available. I picked up the ones which appeared on this thread and added one by one.

Without these flasg I get an infinite 'Still waiting for root device' series of messages still on terminal, before booting the Installation.

I could not complete the installation though. I tried it, but it consistently gives me an 'Install Failed.' message at the end.

I tried disabling languages and printer drivers on the installation, but that didn't help.

I can give more feedback if needed, just ask.

Any ideas on how to complete installation?

I have used the Boot CD from the beginning of the thread, in the tutorial, 1st page .

I have an original disk for Snow Leopard Retail Family Pack, which I used to attempt installation (i.e. it is not 'burned').

if it fail on end of setuping it is normal with atinforce cd

also you can use bootcd0.6 it complete with sucssess :(

Using the BootCD 0.6

Here's the video:

Yes, I have changed nothing, the name of the kernel on the flash is mach_kernel.

I figured it out, it boots ok,,but now just hangs at the grey screen just before the install screen loads. I can move the curser around and eventually it just turns into the spinning beach ball.

Primary HDD with OSX is connected to Sata 0 or 1.

The DVD drive and Samsung HDD is connected to Sata 4 and 5.

Ive also tried connecting the Samsung disk togheter with Os x also Sata 0 and Sata 1.

Ill try using the bootcd, just gonna burn it first ^^
