i belive it is a retail

then if it is retail you may need some sort of usb kext. what is your hardware? mobo etc.

 

also try disabling USB in BIOS

 

what guide did you use to install OSX

either delete it with -s (single user command prompt) or get into osx and do it that way.

 

boot with -s then type those sbin commands that it shows then type rm -r \System\Library\Extensions\appleusbohci.kext

 

then restart

then tried installing chameleon rc5 build 587??maybe i cant remember the build number (at work). then i try to boot up with chameleon and it hangs on that screen... both drives do that.

I have installed it, but after installing chameleon , i have to go to the boot.plist file but there is no boot.plist file at libary/preferece/... I dont find it on the computer. What i have to do? I dont know it.

you made raid soft or hard ?

and nearly bootloader install only on non raid HDD not sure

lol now i understand what your issue is, you weren't very specific at all, you never told me that it was after you got a successful install and tried to install cham rc5 587 that it stopped working

i did try booting the single drive (which has the successfully installed osx on it) with the other 2 drives disconnected totally from the computer.

same error.

 

as for the raid i would asume they call that a hardware raid. I dont mess with linux or anything. raid 0 with 2 drives. ( 2 wd velosi rapters)

well i think its pretty obvious that your computer is compatible with that specific version of chameleon. the next version might work though...

OSX snow only start up with the BOOTCD the darwin bootloader. Beacuse there is no boot.plist file. Its complicated.

oh ok, i just used rc5 on my laptop with same version of snow, but thats a Intel chip.

This is a fine tip. AMD CPU and chipset support has been around but this brings together all the missing elements to make at least a bootable partition and go past the registration screen and into desktop.

The problem thereafter with AMD is not with the platform but most of the times with the GPU. If Nviida is embedded, users may have a lot better luck with it. AMD cards are just not that popular with Apple, not until now. But then there is no retro support for the earlier ATI GPU. That is sad to say the least. But it is what it is.

I recently dug up and old machine with AMD SB600 chipset with ATI X1200 IGP. I used this guide to set up without a glitch and took it all the way to 10.6.4. But graphics is another story. The next 2 days I was hunting for kexts but none of them would properly support the IGP. I also have an array of ATI GPU cards but unfortunately also that they are not the right ones.

I finally gave up on perfecting it with a proper kext since I wasted too much time already.

My plan is just to wait for either 10.6.5 and maybe get a next genenration of ATI GPU cards.
