ok, i think i might have it, put your HD on sata3 any port but 4or5 then put your dvd on sata3 port 4 or 5 and go into bios then set all to ahci EXCEPT for then got to the SATA Port 4/5 type and select as ide. so the HD is SATA and the dvd is emulated as IDE. then try to install

if that doesnt work put the HD on port 4 and the dvd on port 5 and make sure the SATA Port 4/5 type option in bios is set as ide and try to install

i changed this post abit read again :)

even when both are IDE?

try putting a clean hd in (no partitions on it, or alteast no ntfs ones.) NTFS may cause a AHCI KP

then try a IDE dvd drive.

im stumped, could be something with the rev 2.0 mobo

its geting late here so i wont be able to answer any questions still tomorrow, just pm me any further questions so we dont clog up my thread :D

"sirbow2" you surely are a Genius in this Genius bar all hexa cores working, super cool.

Please shed some genius-light on me too, am small time music programmer,

who was on iAtkos 10.5.7 v7 untill my last board got fried. Now am on this.

http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/products/produc...spx?pid=3475#sp

I have tried the above mentioned OSX distribution plus Hazard's Intel/Amd 10.6.1 -10.6.2,

both have been unsucessful, latter one keeps on rebooting and former waits for root device.

This what all i have tried:

*AHCI mode

* All types Bust ratio commands in conjunction with Cps=1,2 etc.

* With clean HDD and also without HDD, i.e. just with only motherboard.

I just can't get into the DVD, anyhow. Yes, I have read thru and following your topic.

Regards

My system:

CPU AMD 1055T

MOB Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H

Video Radeon HD5770

RAM 4GB 1600Mhz

I am successfully dual booting win7 and SL 10.6.5. First installed windows, then used 10.6.3 retail DVD, created new partition in my usb drive, then copied install dvd to that partition, applied OSInstall.mpkg patch to allow install to MBR. Then I used empire EFI boot CD to load retail installation from usb stick and installed SL. After installation booted from boot cd again into SL, installed 10.6.5 combo update(make sure you dont restart after installation), then applied myHack 1.1.4 with no kexts selected, then copied all the needed kexts to my extra folder (can be found in the attachment). Also replaced boot and mach_kernel files. Installed netkas 5770 drivers (vervet) and network (RealtekR100), for sound there is voodoohda alc892 adaptation, however for me the sound has distortion therefore I am looking for other solutions. Also I couldnt find working sleepenabler.kext and with current mach_kernel I am not able to boot into 64bit. Apart from that I have fast and stable system. There is also macdrive or paragon hfs 8 available for windows, it is very useful if you have problems with booting and want to replace or edit some files.

If you haven't solved your issues yet. Boot -v and it will scroll some text on creen when it gets stuck take a pic and upload it here.

kalmdave

the link you posted doesn't work in the US, just post the name of your mobo here ex gpa890-ud3h etc.

Try my guide, get IDeneb and see if it boots. If not post a screenie where it gets stuck.

On the 10.6 hazard, if you still have it try it and boot with -v -x -f cpus=1 see if that helps.

Hope it works

Optional Install without kext or console mess

Yes I do it with the new nawcom mod cd v3.1 http://blog.nawcom.com/?p=446

nawcom mod cd + retail snow leopard on USB drive = painless instalation

next, you have to upgrade your kernel, legacy kernel v10.0.0 < v10.5.0 (10.6.5v2) http://blog.nawcom.com/?p=424#more-424

(for the next step you are going to need ##### ) install the 10.6.5 combo from apple----- dont restart (if you do it you are going to {censored} your usb ports) launch ##### - select- 1- restore cache -2- restore permissions -3- USB roller back - 4- USB 3.0 (opcional, last one if you want)

restart and wala,

Could you please tell me your BIOS setting and what video/graphics card are you using?

My struggle is, in AHCI mode I only get one SATA port out of 5, now either I can connect a SATA HD on it or a SATA DVD. I feel cursed. Above all stupid on-board ATI Radeon HD4250. Went and bought another stupid card "GALAXY" 8400GS 512RAM, as every other manufacturer is working. Here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...39203&st=40

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H (rev. 1.3)

Cpu: AMD Phenom II x6 1055T

Thanks.

I dunno, all I can say is make sure you set the 2 (maybe 3) option in bios to ahci And use the 3 blue sata ports closes to the mobo.

The built in gfx should work fine, just no gl or qe/ci. Do you have a actuall gfx card?

Yes, it's GALAXY GeForce 8400GS 512RAM. Ati Radeon HD 4250 is onboard. Man you are lucky.

How are you guys getting this to work? I'm trying to give it another go but to no avail. I'm just trying to install from the iDeneb disk and it wont mount my freaking hd. If I set everything to AHCI I can't get into the disk at all. Where should I put the drives on the mobo? I put the hd in sata 3,1 and osx couldn;t find the hd at all. This is becoming a real pain in the ass.
