I found a simple way to get Snow Leopard installed and updated:

Copy MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.pkg to an external drive

Install Snow Leopard as usually to your HD

After install, don't let the computer reboot. Open the Terminal.

cd /System/Library/CoreServices/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/

./Installer /Volumes/nameofyourexternaldrive/MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.pkg

After the installation, rename AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext/AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext to not get the black screen at the startup, also remove the Extensions.mkext

Reboot and enjoy :D

Hello, Maik, that option sounds good to me because i could update to 10.6.6 but i got black screen, even the bootloader works well, but not the screen, and i'd like to try your suggest, but, i dont know exactly how can I rename the AppleIntelHDGraphics kext from terminal and how to remove the extensions kext, if you could tell us I'll be very happy, thnx for your tip!!!!

I'll post my results!!!

thnx!!!

In Virtual Boy it will not work. ... we need to test it out on native installation... You need DSDT Editor, have to make a dump of your original DSDT and add the gmux part

I believe, there are different reasons. Seems like Graphic Enabler is turned on ... Turn it off. So far Intel HD is not supported. Also, you might need another not vanilla kernel. ... And at the end it seems, that you have to restore the Extension Permissions. ...

how do i turn off graphics enabler?

is it the kext thats under the intel drop down thing? and what kernel do you think i need? because i have tried some but not all as i just didnt have enough time.

Delete AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext

AppleIntelGraphicsFB.kext

this will help u to boot up (without black screen).

set permissions using using disk utility or osx86tools

Go to your Extra folder com.apple.boot.plist

Graphicenabler sting to No

Do u use ##### ?

i used (now vanilla) the kernel u find on the ##### disc ... it is an old one but it works fine.

Later I ll go on and try to compile my DSDT with gMux So far there are a lot of errors ...

Hi

I dont want to take you the hope

but i think GMUX is not used on MBP 8.1

see GMUX_MBP8.1

in GMUX_MBP6.1 GMUX is in use with kext AppleGraphicsControl

This is what you would expect since the 8.1 in particular has only integrated GPU. The one and only apple machine like this, at the moment, as far as I know.

It's interesting and useful information though.

Hm gMux seems to load a part from AppleGraphic selector. (dumo ioreg 6,1) and also it loads confi0 and config1. seems to be the same as can be set in the AGC info.plist

config0 / config1 sets the FB that is in use.

till now i was not able to compile my own dsdt + gmux without errors. hope, i ll finde a solution over the free days.

Hopefully you can find a solution when you have time XmodD and anybody else who's working on this. :)

Well as for me, I've been playing around with my hackintosh. Not coding but messing with the Intel HD Graphics kexts. Of course now my Realtek ALC272X, VoodooBattery and my ALPS Trackpad don't work anymore but it was a sacrifice that allowed me to gain this. ;)

This is the Intel HD Graphics kext loaded. (AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext and AppleIntelHDGraphicsGA.plugin are removed.) Nothing special except for menubar transparency and smoother animations. Forgot to mention that there are some distortions in using Finder (Reason might be because AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext is not loaded) No custom resolution or QE/CI though.

These screenshots has the AppleIntelHDGraphicsGA.plugin loaded. As you can see, its not recommended to have this loaded. (Mouse cursor seems fine though. Go figure.)

=======================================================================

This is what allowed me to get these results:

Chameleon Bootloader 2.0 RC5 R752

GraphicsEnabler=Yes in Boot.plist

Darwin Kernel 10.7.0

Mac OS X 10.6.7 (Regular Update)

Using Macbook Pro 8,1 SMBIOS

Using Early MacBook Pro 2011 10.6.7 Intel HD Kexts. (Yes I backed up all 8 kexts from previous failed installation) :P

I'm still lurking around, I'm going to give most of this stuff a try when a new keyboard shows up for my laptop. (The reason I got the laptop is because a friend baked the keyboard with a glass of redwine and gave me the thing for parts) Rocking a USB keyboard is too klunky to get long haul work done on it.

I'm not sure if you understand my post, I was not asking if it was working yet, I was asking if I should be watching this forum according to my laptop specs.

thanks for the reply though :)

OK now I was able to compile my DSDT with GMUX. It shows up in IOReg, but it is less loaded, i believe, it is cause I have only Intel HD solo...

I ll compile beta992's dsdt in some hours, we ll need a IO Reg dump maybe, it loads more ...

sorry for my English, I'm a Italian boy and use google translator for translation.

I am also a holder of the HD VGA INTEL 5700, and also I am a long time that I try to get this card on my laptop, but unfortunately nothing does not want to work. Unfortunately I can not develop drivers, and are not a programmer, otherwise I would have to study this thing night and day just to do it, because I believe that the right way to get it to work there, as this card is also installed in the mac book pro together with the damn nvidia. I say cursed because it is the nvidia card, as you all know by now to create problems because of the switch and not to operate only on the intel hd hack. I hope and believe that science will sooner or later some genius finds solution to this thing and then all owners of the intel hd do think that deserved a nice present.

OK Here is the DSDT but not compiled. ... There is an Error, I do not know how to fix....

The error is not GMUX caused. maybe someone else can compile it. seems to be a small problem. ...

What Lenovo it is?

http://www.sendspace.com/file/z4772k

I also have a Lenovo Z460, so I added GMUX to it

DSDT.aml.zip

EDIT:

Just tested here. GMUX doesn't seem to help.
