Chameleon RC5-r699

Resolution 1366x768

This screenshot makes me cry with joy! Then there is hope to get native resolution afterall. :P

Can upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.7 be one of the steps to get native resolution with Intel HD Graphics?

I can see that there is no QE/CI but as long as there's native resolution I'm fine with that! ;)

EDIT: Are you using Intel HD Graphics? Hopefully you are.

I had native resolution in 10.6.*. Yes, it's Intel HD Graphics on my Arrandale i5-540M processor.

Now that I'm posting this, I'm not sure if I have the GMA 5700. Mine only says Intel HD Graphics. Laptop is a Dell Latitude E4310.

I don't think Apple has ever used the Mobile Intel QS57 Express Chipset on their MacBooks. However it does use the 1st generation Intel Core processor and Intel HD Graphics which is Arrandale.

I think most of us use the Mobile Intel H55 Express Chipset which is also Arrandale and was used in the earlier MacBooks which included the 1st generation Intel Core processor, Intel HD Graphics and a discrete graphics card.

I don't think there is a difference between Mobile Intel QS57 Express Chipset and Mobile Intel H55 Express Chipset except for some security features.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Would it be too much trouble if you can tell us what you did to make your Intel HD Graphics to display your native resolution?

Maybe can help a kextstat. What kext you have installed for your video card?

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

Only changes I made to /S/L/E were deleting the AppleIntelHD* kexts, but that was just for the 10.6.6/7 updates. I had native resolution in 10.6.*. I am using a DSDT I generated for my laptop, too, but I believe I had native resolution with just the edits to boot.plist.

Hello Jedis, do you did a "normal" installation or did something "special"??? and how can I install the DSDT that you have on your laptop, thnx in advance!!!

Jedis, are you sure you didn't do anything else? Changing the boot.plist does not make any difference. The weird thing about your screenshots is the menubar transparency, and a few posts back, you needed the Lion Intel HD Graphics.kext to at least get the menubar transparency. Finally, the question I ask myself, how did you take a screenshot? It seems that you need QE/CI to take screenshots. I'm confused ;)

Again, maybe your DSDT has something that can help us.

In the screen there seems to be QE/CI....seems to me only?

Maybe the solution are in the DSDT

p.s. Jedis have you take the screen with an external monitor ???

Its QE at least. Jedis, what 10.6.7 update do you got? The full SL Combo Update or the MBP Early 2011 Update? With the last one i can't get my internal lcd to work. I always get 3 errors from the AppleBacklightExpert.kext about unresolved symbols.

Hey,

i want to report my status.

I installed 10.6.7 (vanilla) on my ThinkPad EDGE 11" Intel HD.

Graphic Card is recognized as Intel HD. I can only access by remoteDisplay.

Before I installed 10.6.6. The interesting fact is, that first I got black screen (remoteDisplay)

but with incorrect resolution. 1600x can not remember.

Then I installed the posted Lion Kexts. with these kexts I got a screen. But it looks horrible. Maybe I can upload a picture, if I find it. Using remoteDisplay I also got the horrible Screen. the same on External VGA and also on HDMI.

Now with the update to 10.6.7 I get black Screen again --> RemoteScreen. But there are two nice facts:

1.) A short time while booting, the internal LCD turns blue, like regular boot. But then it turns back to Black.

2.) On RemoteScreen it detected the resolution of the internal LCD correct. I also did an EDID dump using screen sharing while loaded kexts.

I believe that the FrameBuffer Driver works correct, but I think it tries to send the signal to DisplayPort. ==> Nirvana. So we need to Hex Edit, that it goes to LVDS.

+1 to that.

I installed the 10.6.7 update, and i get scrambled screen. Did not try the Screen sharing, but i catches the right resolutions, from what i could see. I used 25 minutes to find the screen settings :-)

we probably need an injector like natit in order to do that.. =D

I tried to rewrite natit but i had no success. It is not loaded up. Also if i boot with 32 bit flag. I also tried the natit version already posted .... not loaded up.

can someone tell me how to make it loaded ?

Another Question .... Has someone an idea how to write a DSDT device DisplayPort ? I mean is it possible to create a display port in dsdt and link it to LVDS ?

I'm using the AppleIntel{HD,SNB,Integrated}* kexts from Lion DP2 with the 2011 MBP version of 10.6.7 and nawcom's latest Legacy kernel. The Legacy kernel is probably only necessary if you get hit with a reboot loop. For Sandy Bridge, you will need to specify the busratio of your CPU in the boot arguments.

The other thing I had to do was install this version of the IOPCIFamily kext (do this if you get a boot hang after the message "[ PCI configuration begin ]"):

http://www.kexts.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=892

I can boot with all kexts present, I have the accelerated framebuffer, and I can change resolution in System Preferences. Display gets messed up if I try to switch to external VGA (haven't tried HDMI yet). No QE/CI. I added a GLCompositor configuration to com.apple.windowserver but still no ripple effect in Dashboard and my screen suddenly goes blank if I try to start Front Row. Would love to get some suggestions for getting QE/CI working.

(edit, more info:

Does anyone know what this is all about?

kyles-Mac-Pro:~ kyle$ sudo kextfind /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext

kyles-Mac-Pro:~ kyle$ sudo kextfind /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelSNBVA.bundle

It's like I can't even attempt a kextload because it doesn't recognize there's a kext there.

edit again: never mind, I see now that this isn't really a kext, but some object that gets dynamically loaded by one.)

This is as Asus K53E with an i3-2310m (Intel HD 3000). This probably won't work with Arrandale/Clarkdale, but it's worth a shot!

I'm sure I forgot to mention something, so ask away.

Hi Kyle C, can you write down a kind of tutorial about how do you did the whole install process???, or at least if you can specify your full laptop specs, and if you think it would work on a i330-m intel processor, with a just an intel HD Graphics, I'll be glad if only I can have native res, is the only thing that it doesnt work on my gateway!!!

thanx in advance!!!

cheers!!!

There are two separate kexts for the framebuffer, AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB and AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB. Presumably "SNB" means Sandy Bridge. The fact that it is still separated like that means that the one you would need to use (the first one) is likely to still fail since it expects to be working with a secondary GPU. But all of these kexts have new version numbers with DP2 so I dunno.

Sorry, but I'll leave the tutorial-writing to someone else cause I've still got lots of hacking to do! I'm happy to answer questions though.

These are different since they're from Developer Preview 2. I'm too paranoid to upload files from a Developer Preview, but I see that a torrent has just hit TPB.

You don't have to actually install it. Go into the dmg and then do "hdiutil attach BaseSystem.dmg".

Oooooooookkkkk... well, thnx anyway, I'll keep trying, because im going to look for the new kexts because the older ones seems not to work with my laptop, or maybe im doing something wrong during the install process, i really i dont know, and the people who already got native res just disappear... the other thing is to get a "good" install on the i3-330M, because is a lot of trick to get it work, if somebody knows some "method" please let me know, i'll be very happy about it... and thnx for averything in advance... and thank you Kyle C... :o
