Is your extra folder installed to the root of the partition or just on the desktop? can it be moved from the desktop to just be in the main folders list on the drive? Does Chameleon search the entire partition for the extra folder or a specific location?

You don't need to use terminal, you can use Finder.

In terminal you can use cp or mv. Let's say it's in the desktop

sudo mv ~/Desktop/Extra /

or

sudo cp -R ~/Desktop/Extra /

So I can just drag the extra folder I downloaded from MaLd0n http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=dsdt&st=40 to the desktop? How do I get it to the root?

I then install chameleon and then run the auto patcher? Or run the auto patcher and then install chameleon?

So it would be:

sudo -s

sudo cp -R ~/Desktop/Extra /

exit

?

I'm not good at terminal. It's been two years since I've tried installing any of this so it's all new again.

Just drag and drop to the Mac OS HD in the Finder side bar, it will be moved to the root of the partition.

Hey DutchHockeyPro thanks for your tip, I used it in the older days when MasterChief was active but in my case, despite compiling, it was not 100% error-proof (I mean the results). Knowing that you are also very knowledgeable, can you indeed use this without problems? Cheers.

Been using it since September 2010 for an HP I was using. No problems, but it did't work with OS X 10.5 simply because it was written for 10.6 At least that's what the note said.

I tried the DSDT editor for GMA950 Desktop; below details;

I followed the below steps but after reboot, I get the gray screen.

Can you please help on this & let me know what I have done wrong?

Thank you for the reply.

I am sorry it was my typo. I used the file "GMA950 desktop.txt" for the patching.

Here I have attached the 2 fles

Just the .dsl file after doing - File>extract DSDT --> file name - dsdt-before-patch.dsl

After applying "DTGP.txt" & "GMA950 desktop.txt" --> file name - dsdt-after-patch.aml

I have attched these 2 files in ZIPped.

I used the dsdt.aml (after renaming "dsdt-after-patch.aml") in /Extra & as well as "/" of MAS OS partion. Both situation, I got the same result.

When I start, I see the Apple logo with a rotating circle as normal start up & after few seconds, screen is blank. I have the feeling that OSX has started normally but I can not see the screen.

By the way, my install is based on iATKOS S3 V2 & I used the minimal selections during install apart from defaults. I am using AnVAL boot loader.

Thank to check & et me know whether you can spot any issues here.

The patch seems correctly applied.

Use the parameters "Wait=yes arch=i386 -v" at boot and check if dsdt.aml is being loaded. If it is, the problem is probably the GMA950 kexts included in the DVD you used. Try using original kexts, install the current combo update.

I installed iATKOS S3 V2 with a GMA950 27A2 (See here - http://www.osx86install.com/support/91-iat...s3-readme.html). Under bootloader options, I also selected 32-bit boot so I believe it means "arch=i386".

After the full install, I ran the 10.6.6 combo update to get the stock kexts. Is that what you meant?

Next is to run the 10.6.7 combo but I think after I ran 10.6.6 combo, I have already got the stock/original GMA950 kexts.

Please correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.

I will report back soon.

Hi oldnapalm

I checked few times & at the end, I tried the VGA port instead of DVI port (which was there from the beginning).

IT WORKED with full resolution. Looks good too. I am sure all will work now.

One problem - when it goes to sleep, it does not wake up with mouse movement or any key press. Is there any other way to wake it up. I tried windows way to wake it up.

Two questions, is there a way to fix this sleep & get this DSDT GMA950 Desktop patch for DVI to work?

In fact, I thought DVI & VGA port of GMA950 is the same.

If you have a way to modify the patch, can I please know what information I should provide to you?

To get sleep working you have to fix power management. Use Chameleon RC5 to generate P and C states, check if AppleLPC is loaded (patch DSDT if it's not) and remove any disabler for AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement

For the DVI, it is alright I will continue to use VGA - there is no much difference on screen.

I will report back after working wake-up fix. Once the wake-up is fixed, I am done with my install.

Hi oldnapalm,

I am really working hard to get what you suggested done.

What I found so far;

1. It looks like "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement" has loaded so I believe it is ok.

2. AppleLPC has NOT got loaded & I am googling to find the DSDT patch for that to load.

3. I am also trying to upgrade the Chameleon RC5 to Rev 184 as what I have currently is Ver 2.0 RC5 Pre12 R115. I am looking at a way to do it.

I will report back soon.

If you have any idea on how to do the 2nd one above (DSDT patch to load AppleLPC), it will be much appriciated.

Remove these kexts:

EvOreboot.kext (restart fix in Chameleon RC5, apply shutdown patch in DSDT)

Disabler.kext (it probably disables AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement, check in kext's Info.plist)

LegacyAppleRTC.kext (apply RTC patch in DSDT, if needed)

RTC and LPC patches are included in DSDT Editor.

For LPC inject the ID closest to your board's original one (from AppleLPC.kext/Contents/Info.plist)

Thanks you for all the details & I have almost done,except for the LCP ID value.

Can you please confirm that the number that I used should be "8086,27b89" as my number is "8086,27b8"?

After this, I think I can complete this task.

Yes, I believe 27b9 is the most suitable value (even though any ID present in AppleLPC would work)

Hi oldnapalm,

I tried the steps unfortunately I could not get the wake up from sleep to work.

I got reboot, shutdown, RTC patched in DSDT & also LPC patch is still there in DSDT.

After all those changes, the current status is this;

- I got kernel panic with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement. See the attachements for screen photo. This photo is taken after booting with -s & I could not do any work because of the kernel panic - system stuck. I had to boot with the iATKOS S3 DVD to fix the boot.

- After the DSDT patch & bootloader upgrade, I could get away with the "EvOreboot.kex" & "LegacyAppleRTC.kext".

- I setup the below in file com.apple.Boot.plist in /Extra folder. But now, I deleted that file.

- AppleLPS is now loaded

I also see that AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement is loaded now, not sure it is filly loaded.

I have below files now in /Extra;

If we have some way to work around it, please do let me know so that I will try next.

You have to update this mkext after removing kexts.

Did you ckeck what this kext disables?

Do you have any idea about the com.apple.Boot.plist file & the kernel panic error?

You need that plist in /Extra.

About KP, do you have HPET enabled in BIOS? If you do but still have "no HPETs available" KP, try applying the HPET patch to your DSDT. This patch is for Gigabyte mobos (ASUS usually don't need it) so you will probably have to change "Return (ATT3)" to match your DSDT (maybe "Return (CRS)").
