uPod
hey guys, i've been really wanting to build a hackintosh based on the i5, but i just don't know if i can afford it right now. the i5 seems like a sure bet because apple have already released machines with that CPU so obviously it's supported, whereas the i3 hasn't been released in their machines. i was hoping the new mac mini would have it as that would have given me a lot of reassurance, but they still have the core2duo. anyway, my objective is to build a hackintosh in order to try out the iphone/ipad development suite. if i like it the environment i'd hopefully buy some apple hardware. does anyone know of a list of hardware that mentions what hardware works well in a hackintosh and which doesn't? this new machine will be used a hackintosh so i want to get it right. thanks guys Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/221648-possible-to-build-a-hackintosh-with-an-i3/ Share on other sites
MaLd0n
a good cost benefit Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 Core I7 860 Nvidia N9600GT-512QX-F but is your option after the launch of the new MBP was much better ##### http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/ or HackBoot http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=220312 after installing the update to 10.6.4 ***New 10.4.0 Darwin kernel - all Core i3/i5/i7 now supported within hackBoot already have "pos instalaçao" = post installation -Instal "Chameleon-2.0-RC4-r684.pkg" -Instal "Install Extra" and copy the sata drivers/ata also and then fine-tune Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/221648-possible-to-build-a-hackintosh-with-an-i3/#findComment-1493144 Share on other sites

neil43
i3 installs can be accomplished with no more problems then with i5's (in my opinion). I have an i3 and have installed on Zotac H55ITX-A-E (see this link: Zotac Install ). However I would recommend the Gigabyte H55M-UD2H which is more main stream. And use the current ##### Supported and v2.0 ##### with retail 10.6.x updating to 10.6.4. I also recommend all SATA drives and Nvidia 8400 or 9600 video cards. With the i3-530, I have Geekbench scores in the 5100 area which is super for a sub $100 CPU. neil Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/221648-possible-to-build-a-hackintosh-with-an-i3/#findComment-1493409 Share on other sites
