Thanks ^_^ do we have to reapply this:>

Got finally on the Lion bandwagon myself too and have still some problems to sort out.

First thanks to maleorderbride, dougaa and chuckles, is thanks to you guys that I have a running built :)

Anyway this are the tings I still cannot sort out/understand.

Got to 10.7.2 following chuckles post, lion runs fine (no performance increase here though) but

  1. randomly (about 30-40% of times) on starting up I get to the login window but cannot move the mouse; or I get to the login window can move the mouse but cannot click on the name and activate the password input dialog. At that point all I can do is hard reset the pc and on the next reboot everything is fine.
  2. Even if in the Bios i have all Stata controller set to [AHCI] the 2 GSata ports (the 6gbs ones Gsata6 and Gsata7 on the manual) are found as IDE. I am on FF bios update. They work fine on osx but won't work if I link them to a SSD drive (Since it is AHCI only I suppose) nor I can get SATA III speeds from them (But cannot say for sure).
  3. Some times one of the monitors does not get signal at login, it is always the same one and again if I reboot all is fine. This has to do with the graphic card though I think.

One more thinks if I am to set up a raid 0, shall I do it in the bios or with disk utility?

Anyway thanks for reading up to here; I am on the latest chimera 1.7 (I think) and link my extra folder if any of you would be so kind to give it a look I would appreciate a loot :sorcerer: my spec are on the signature also.

Unfortunately even if i tried to get past just coping your files in my setup and tried to get a bit deeper in understanding what I am supposed to do, there is almost no use to it and I am stuck to relay on you guys :help:

Your Extra folder frightens me. I attached my Extra, S/L/E kexts, and I actually stopped using Lnx2Mac's networking kext as I had some problems that may or may not have been due to it in 10.7.3. Bottom-line is that Realtek's official installer is fully functional for me and does not break sleep like it did in 10.6.8.

Edit: Realtek's official driver caused other problems. I am back with Lnx2Mac's driver. A fresh install of 10.7.3 seems to have dealt with the oddities I was experiencing in networking.

I recommend trying out my files, but change the SMBIOS serial number to match your current one so that you don't have to re-authenticate any apps. Your SMBoardProduct ID is not correct, which is generally a no-no. It should match your model version.

I am using the latest Chameleon 2.1, not Chimera. I attached the i386 for it as well.

You can not set up a BIOS RAID0 without a hardware RAID card. I also don't recommend it at all. Just get an SSD if you want a fast boot drive. If you want a non-booting RAID array then go ahead and use software RAID in Disk Utility.

All of my controller's are named properly and detected properly as AHCI. SATA III works fine with Lion, but the onboard marvel SATA III chip is TERRIBLE. It will top out at ~360MBp/s. Still, better than SATA II I suppose. Using my files should clear that up.

Wow, I have sleep for the first time! I've tried dozens of configuration changes, and never had sleep working. I'll find out later today if it wakes up ;) my geekbench 32bit has been about 1500 points lower since doing a clean install of 10.7.3, however the system feels 'snappier'. Thank you very much maleorderbride! your MacPro4,1.zip did the trick.

Great! If it does not wake then make sure you have everything under System Preferences->Energy Saver checked and make sure that my edited AppleRTC.kext is installed in S/L/E. That should do it!

Here too thanks a lot :king: all but one of the problems I had disappeared, and the system is super stable I have been testing it for the past two weeks. And super thanks for this piece of advice really made me understand why many things went astray in the past

I recommend trying out my files, but change the SMBIOS serial number to match your current one so that you don't have to re-authenticate any apps. Your SMBoardProduct ID is not correct, which is generally a no-no. It should match your model version.

Btw now I am using your SMBoardProduct ID and my SMserial is it correct?

For the remaining problem I am still left with a puzzling AHCI not behaving as I expect. I got some snapshot taken in the past weeks of my Bios settings and see if I can explain what is going on.

I have all internal sata ports set to AHCI in the Bios but 2 of them keep being detected as IDE and are the Sata 3 (Gsata 6 and Gsata 7 in the manual) I have all internal ports used and I also use 1 eSata external one. I did not consider it a problem till I got myself a SolidStateDrive and tried to use the Sata 3 port for it; it won't run there since it is not AHCI. As you see in the bios as it starts it detects 2 HDD as IDE then it goes on detecting the rest and it does detect the normal 6 stata ports and then the GSata 8-9 plus eSata (Did not take a screenshot of the last two ones). After that the bootloader gets control...

I am really left with no option here any insight would be welcome.

cheers :queen::thanks_speechbubble:

I've been running on my hackintosh for over a year now, but have never been able to resolve my microphone issue.

Does anyone know which kext to use so that audio inputs work on this board? The OS doesn't seem to pick up any audio inputs, but output works just fine. (I'm still running Snow Leopard btw)

I gave up on audio inputs (The Mic jack) long ago and went for the shortcut buying a usb mic and headphones; which works, and worked flawlessly in SnowLeopard with skype and facetime but that is all I needed a mic for. So unless you have more advanced audio input needs I guess a cheap usb mic would solve most of your audio input problems.

Cheers

I don't have my build anymore, but I thought that my mic worked with my driver set? Did it not? USB does work really well though and it allows you to pretty much completely ignore AppleHDA if you so choose. Get USB headphones/mic and USB 2.1 speakers and they work oob with Lion.

Also, if anyone is interested I am starting a guide over here: http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=168&t=51422&p=319743#p319743

My build is pretty much fully functional at this point other than sleep and speedstep. If moving from a Quad-core then it is about a 100% speedup in all CPU intensive applications.

Hardware:

i7-3930K @ 4.5GHz (13 on Cinebench)

32GB DDR3-1600MHz RAM

HD6870 1GB DDR5

120GB SATA III SSD

Hello everyone changed one of my two displays to a bigger one. Went from 22" to 27" but I don't get signal now. Everything seems fine during boot both displays are on, but the bigger one goes dark saying "no signal" at the login window. If at that point I unplug and plug the DVI cable back in the display works fine. I tried to google around but could not figure it out any advice? Would I fix it if I would buy a display port cable?

I am on 10.7.3 and with a Ati Sapphire 5870.

I think it is more related to the video card rather than the mobo so I posted it also on a Ati 5870 thread; ask here also in case in case any of you know better ^_^

Thanks

Solved by buying a display port cable :)

Has anyone used USB 3.0 with a USB 3.0 device successfully? Mine works fine with USB 2.0 devices, shows as Superspeed in system profiler, but then doesn't detect anything that is actually a USB 3.0 device when I plug it in.

If yours works, please post your:

DSDT

PXHCD.kext

Thanks!

Mountain Lion GM

good news

As we are all developpers, we can try this version... :angel_not:

Using this link:

http://forums.macrum...d.php?t=1404548

it is easy to install.

Right now everything works:

network (RealtekRTL81xx.kext) (Jmicron36xATA.kext)

graphics acceleration (from the box)

sound (AppleHDA.kext)

DVD PATA (Jmicron36xATA.kext)

Hi All,

Using ###### ###### usb I was able to get LION 10.7.4 98% working! Everything except Audio. I am hoping that some of the folks out there have solved the latest issue with the audio and LION.

Ethernet was working and then stopped after the updates from Apple. ###### drivers worked great.

I am running an NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 285 and that seems to work great, its recognized by the system and runs in hi-res mode (at least higher than 1k).

I am running i7 at 3.3Ghz and 16G of ram, all recognized and seems to be 100%.

I've tried to install the audio several times and nothing seems to work - at this point I don't know if I am fixing things or causing more problems. As I am a noob - not sure how to clean out (just audio) and start clean there. It took many tries to get all the cobinations right to get the install working and to be able to boot from the hard disk.

Anyway - please respond if you know how to get the Realtek audio working, when I open sounds it says there are no output devices on the system. But the drivers seem to install without any errors.

I had an old logitech webcam with microphone -so I just jacked that into the USB and it worked! The only thing left is to get the speakers working...

Anyway - thanks in advance, I appreaciate any help you can provide!

Geon

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion, but still no luck with USB 3.0

It appears in the system profiler as USB Super-Speed Bus, but no connected device will work through the 3.0 ports.

Has anyone else figured out a way to get this up and running? The controller should be a "CalDigitUSBxHCI" and it is listed in mult-beast.

I also came across this guide from CalDigit, but its from 2010

Anyone on Mountain Lion? Need a step guide :wink2:. Could you guys point me to one?

Thanks.

I installed to a fresh drive, so i'm not sure what the process is for upgrading your existing install. I used ###### & mult-beast, and then used the same Lion kexts that were posted here before. Everything is working fine so far. Shutting down the computer takes significantly longer, but that may be my SSD acting funky. Sleep mode still isnt working, and I also dropped around 1,000 points in geekbench.

I am still not on Mountain Lion, but do have working USB 3.0 now.

Here is the PXHCD: https://dl.dropbox.c.../PXHCD.kext.zip

It breaks sleep though. A newer version of it allows sleep, but has other bugs. There are no working USB 3.0 drivers for this chipset that have no caveats, at least that I am aware of ;)

This firmware increased my read/write by about 10% (Must be installed from Windows): https://dl.dropbox.c...are 3.0.3.4.zip

I am using a CalDigit approach on my ASUS P9X79 series motherboard, but no luck with that approach on this chipset.

edit:

Fixed links.

Two tears ago, I buildt a HackPro using X58A-UD3R and ATI Radeon HD 5700, I7 2,8 Ghz, memory 6 Gb 1600 Mhz

I use mainly Snow leopard 10.6.8 and all works fine.

On different partitions I installed Lion and mountain Lion

I upgraded recently Lion to 10.7.5 and Mountain Lion to 10.8.2.

Now I have random KP 1 time over 3 to 5 at boot, only with Lion or mountain Lion.

2 kexts are pointed

ATI support

ATI5000Controller

I did some search but I didn't find solution to that.

I tryed to put video kexts from SL replacing Lions'one, but this gave grey display.

So... if someone has an ATI 5700 running fine under LION or Mountain lion

please exchange.

Thanks

Leon

I also am running an ATI card 5800 under Lion and same build and do have random KP. I stil cannot figure it out why I know is is the GPU though from console logs. However, I don't have them at boot but while running everything freezes and only the mouse pinter can move but can't interact nor click anything.

If I don't find a solution I am seriously thinking about changing the card with a newer one, anyone with this build and a GTX 680 around?

:weight_lift: Love to all, well all who are still using this mobo :wink2:

I ended up buying a gtx680 and could not run it in 10.7.5 so had to upgrade to 10.8.2 and just sharing how I did for those wishing to do the same.

Keep in mind I am a pure 100% noob and my ex boyfriend was the one who made me this built, and if I can keep it up is just thank you you all in this tread.

First I could not boot anymore from any USB stick and dunno why. Maybe I forgot to set something in the Bios when I upgrade to FH. tried on several usb sticks with chimera or chameleon either guid or mbb but nothing. So here is what I ended in doing:

I had 2 partitions in 10.7 one about 2gb just fo the boot loader the other for Lion, not willing to destroy that got another HDD in and made 3 partions GUID first 2gb for the bootloader than one for the os and another about 8gb for the install files (Could not use a USB for that or I would have) I made them in this order

{BootParition} 2gb

{OsPartition} the remaning space

{installFiles} 8gb

{InstallFiles} Prepared the {installFiles} partition following this guide the only difference I pointed to a partition instead of an usb volume.

Still using a working video card not the new gtx680 I installed chimera 2.1 in the first small partition then copied there the same extra I used in 10.7 (Will attach files at the end of the post). Reboot the system and press F12 at bios then select the new hard disk and boot with chimera the {installFiles} partition and install 10.8. when done it will reboot once and again F12 but this time boot into {OsPartition}.

Ended up with a working 10.8 and replaced 4 kext in S/L/E/ with Kext Wizard and installed the update 10.8.2 the did again the 4 kext as before (I am too noob to figure out if it was really needed or not) and then installed these drivers for nvidia cards.

Change the GraphicsEnabler to NO in org.chameleon.Boot.plist and shutdown. Put the new videocard in and In Bios placed the new hard disk as coming first for boot order and saved.

Once logged in again I used MigrationAssistan to move all my stuff from the 10.7 installation.

Everything, but few things, seems to work, sleep too :) but had not much time to test it.

Things who do not work are USB3 od it does but I get just 38.5 MB/s

iMessage (and I tried many online tutorial with no succes, and I am also using the chimera who is supposed to fix it but doesn't.

Fell free to have a check at my files and if you find anything wrong ( maleorderbride and dougaa :wink2: )

please let me know, moreover if any of you has a good dsdt file for i7 930 please share my geekbench is about 9600 and was above 10000 in snow leopard but was two years ago and maybe cpu get older too :) All the files you will see attached are coming 99% from these tread I guess and are previous share buy you guys!

:star_sunglasses: Cheers!!

I would like to report successful installation

Maverik on this GA-X58A-UD3R.

I started from

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/289062-109-mavericks-simple-vanilla-hackintosh-install-guide/

everything is OK until point 10 included.

I confirm you must put GraphicsEnabler=No

In /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist on USB key.

Installation goes fine but first reboot gives KP.

So you need to launch an other OS (I used Snow) in order to add some kexts.

I have a ATI 5770 so I needed AMDRadeonX3000.kext and ATI5000Controller.kext in /S/L/E/

If you want Ethernet you need RealtekRTL81xx.kext in /S/L/E/

If you want ATA DVD to work you need JMicron36xATA.kext in /S/L/E/

Of course you need FakeSMC. Kext & NullCPUPowerManagement.kext in /S/L/E/

If you want sound: don’t put any DSDT.aml in /Extra and you need AppleHDA.kext (modified) and HDAEnabler.kext (From tonymac…)

All .kexts are in folder http://ul.to/9x2okqqm

Of course copy each .kext in /S/L/E/

When in there

#chown –R root:wheel  xxx.kext && chmod –R 755 xxx.kext

You can’t install chameleon from Maverik (Forbidden !) so do it from other OS and watch the install log (in Maverik partition). You may need some adjustments as indicated in the log.

reboot option –f

it’s done, you are in Maverick 10.9HD_DP5 all working

PS: There is also an update floating on the web 10.9_13A510D

If you try to install it : catastroph at reboot=shutdown you'd better make a backup before test !
