been having problems with the system not coming out of sleep after 10.6.5 update.

i cant quite figure out what's causing the problem.. no issues with booting or shutting down though. and the system does seem to "enter sleep" much quicker after the update.

 

im on an x58a ud3r fb bios

gtx 260

12 gigs

ssd boot drive + hdd

 

ive had no problems with this setup for 6 months, until I upgraded to 10.6.5

 

also not sure if this helps, but if I place the system in sleep and then wake it shortly after (2 minutes or so) it wakes just fine. If i wait a little longer it gets hung up and won't awake, causing me to have to reboot manually and lose any unsaved work..

I can happily confirm that using BIOS `FC` with the DSDT seems to sleep perfectly! I have left it a few minutes, and it resumes perfectly, as well as for a 12hr stretch, with no consequence as previous posted encountered.

 

There is also an AUTO patcher which I have looked into, I'm not sure what the differences of the 2 are, but to have a machine that sleeps without any issue I'm stunned (Been trying to get my Vostro 1700 to sleep for over 7 months now! (Still need to fiddle with 10.6.5 sleep enabler) )

ADDITIONALLY: Installing the Retail drivers for nVidia adds yet another few FPS, the TonyMac hacked drivers are not required for my 8800GT, as it's supported out of the box in the driver bundle.

thank you i've gone ahead and updated my bios to FC. so far no problems. as well as checked the "start up automatically after power failure" option which seems to be necessary for proper sleep in 10.6.5.

You may need to re-install the (retail) graphics update after altering the SMBIOS profile from anything to/from MacPro3,1.

 

Also, I can report, that if any other model apart from MacPro3,1, 4,1, or 5,1 are used, then the retail nVidia graphics installer complains of incompatible hardware (even though my 8800GT is indeed supported, so the (retail) obviously peeks at the model.

 

Used the fakesmc for MacPro4,1 (and also SMBIOS for 3,1) without any issue. Just not sure how to test any SMC functionality within a 64bit environment (only 32bit)

When I reboot into Win 7, the bios date/time is wrong.

I ran into the same problem - Win7 was always +5 hours from local clock time.

 

In order to get them to agree you need to edit the Windows registry.

 

Click on the Start button and then in the search box type: regedit and hit enter.

 

Navigate down to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

TimeZoneInformation

 

right click in the right pane and select new dword.

Name it RealTimeIsUniversal exactly as I have typed it with no spaces and caps as first letter of each word (it is case sensitive)

Then set the value of the dword to 1

 

Save and exit. Shut down. Boot into OS X. Check your clock setting - reset if required. Reboot into Win7 and check your clock - it should read correctly now.

I have read (and tried) every tip to make the audio of my x58a-ud3r work with 10.6.5 and no luck yet.

 

What should i do now? Reinstall 10.6.5 (is it possible) and try kakewalk again?

 

My audio is only working now if i boot from the kakewalk CD and click in the already installed osx partition. Then i get some error lines (already reported by other users in the forum) and the OSX loads with audio working. The next time i boot OSX the audio goes out.

I have been following this forum and with all your post, I currently have SL 10.6.5 hackintosh with everything working except for sleep isn't functioning properly. When I tell the computer to sleep from the Apple menu, it sleeps properly and shuts off the CPU fan, and it will wake up just fine. The problem is that when I let the computer sit idle and have it go to sleep, the CPU fan never turns off. I made sure that in the Energy Saver preference that "Turn off HD when possible" is checked and that the time to sleep is equal to the time to turn off the monitor.

 

What is the difference from selecting sleep then letting it go the sleep? Or is that the correct function? Thanks

Ok, you have sleep enabler installed. No idea why, since this motherboard sleeps without it. You need to boot with the flag pmversion=20 (reference: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196466).

 

After you get in delete that kext.

 

AppleHDA.kext needs to be re-installed after each major update. That is just the way it is, either that, or use VoodooHDA and have slightly inferior sound.

 

For some reason several people are having problems with audio, despite the solutions already being posted. So, here it is again:

 

1. Install Chameleon RC5

2. AppleHDA.kext needs to be dragged on top of Kext Utility, let it finish.

3. Copy and paste my Extra folder, replacing your current Extra folder.

4. Reboot and you are done.

 

Audio 5.1, digital audio, headphones with auto-detection, etc will all work.

 

All of d00d's edits, up to September 28th are done. Sleep will work, and all CPUs are supported with speedstep and correct P/C states.

 

All normal video cards are supported OOB other than the GTX 470, 480, HD58xx series, and non-reference designs.

 

Oh, and the realtek driver is ethernet support for 32/64-bit that does not break sleep. Install with kext utility if you need it.

Cool, I was just installing a fresh system on this board and these files help me to solve the last problems.

-I could increase the RAM speed to 1600MHz (modif of smbios file)

-I could manage to have the 64bit and the detection of the graphic car GTS450 gainward)

-the sound auto switch from rear to front panel is also cool !

 

-for the people who have a Windows running on an additional disk:

* I've plugged the hard disk on the separated SATA Ports to be able to have the IDE option(and not ACHI) in the bios only for this drive (to see this hard drive under SL you need to add the JMmicron kext in /extra)

 

-> the only thing which is not working is the sleep -if someone could tell how to solve it

(when i do SLEEP, the computer look like it goes into sleep mode, but when i push start again it's booting from the normal init)

 

Geekbench for this config rates at 11079:

Hi mate I am buying pretty much the exact same system as you and have been searching for the info before hand would it be possible for me to get your email address.

 

Already got my case, a Corsair VX550 PSU and 6GB Corsair XMS3 Memory, getting the MOBO tomorrow and the CPU Tuesday.

There are no incompatibilities with this motherboard and 10.6.0-10.6.5 using files that are uploaded or linked within this thread. Sleep, audio, everything works. If yours does not then you either have other hardware to blame (i.e. the video card, dvd drive, etc), or you need to re-read the instructions and try again.

 

Your DVD drive does not properly support sleep under OS X. If you switch drives autosleep will work. You can test this by disconnecting the drive and seeing if auto-sleep works.

 

For anyone who's computer restarts after waking from sleep---make sure that "Restart the computer automatically after Power Failure," is checked under Energy Saver.

 

Anyone with audio problems should just read this thread. I posted audio advice several times--all of which was originally from this thread.

 

Going Bald - Thanks for the windows registry fix for universal time. Apps that do the same thing never are as reliable.

As long as I can see, all is fine but reboot and shut down.

 

I have tried poking around the CD (DVD) ROM connection and can confirm

the CD (DVD) ROM might be the problem for the restart, shutdown fail.

 

Was wondering if you have any suggestion on how might i fix that.

does someone has such symptoms on this MB/config? it happend in using Itunes, imovie 11, final cut pro7...but i think it isn't related to the applications)

 

I was using the files from maleorderbride, because I could not get a 64bits + the 6Go ram in 1600 + GTS450 detection all together.

(in the bios i pushed the RAM to have it run at 1600 - my gskill is normally 1600 but apparently not right detected)

Can anyone tell me exactly which Kexts I need to get networking working on this board? Right now I have no IONetworkingFamily, and the R1000 drivers... However when I try to even load network on system preferences it hangs and becomes unresponsive. Any help would be soooo greatly appreciated!

In the same post where I have my Extra folder attached I also have a list of kexts that need to be dragged on top of Kext Utility and installed.

 

In addition to those, as I mentioned in the post, you need Lnx2Mac's realtek driver, which was linked in that same post. Every file that is needed with this build is in that single post (post #273).

 

I realize it would be nice if that was post #1, but I did not start this thread so I can not edit it in. I can PM the OP and see if he will add it in.

As I mention in the post, my DSDT has all edits and is non-CPU specific. It works (when combined with my com.Apple.boot.plist) perfectly with any socket 1366 processor.

 

You should not modify the files unless you know what you are changing. Removing C and P states will make your CPU run hotter and use more energy. Also, RC5 has mem/cpu detection built into it, so your specifications in the smbios.plist are redundant.

 

Your problem is not any of my files, but your video card. It is a fairly well documented problem that exists for many models of Nvidia cards. The solution is to delete AppleUpstreamClient.kext, or to use a disabler in E/E. I do not have one handy, but searching the forums will find several threads about it.

but on another hand i'm expecting the BIOS changes i've made on the RAM (turbo mode to reach 1600) to cause the freeze. (maybe i could imagine to make a software RAM testing to see if it fails)

The changes i've made in the SMbios were also preocupating me because of a potential mistake between hardware reality / software.

 

Anyway, to identify the cause of this freeze, i get back to my first installation ( lower result in geekbench) made with the latest tools of tonymac, I also went back to a standard BIOS setup for the RAM....let's see if it still freeze.

 

Maleorderbride, if i make a bios update to FC, is the DSDT still compatible, I ask this because i can find different DSDT releases on Tonymac for different BIOS revisions.

Oh jeesh, just went to BIOS page and after no activity there are now 2 more BIOS updates beyond FC.

 

I will download the current version (FE1) and make a new DSDT next week.

 

In my experience, using a current BIOS with an older DSDT seldom matters, but it certainly could cause instability.

In my experience, using a current BIOS with an older DSDT seldom matters, but it certainly could cause instability.

 

be carefull with the FE1, it's an beta bios, according to the gigabyte site (under bios):

Concerning my freeze problem, i know now that it's not the ram overclocking in the bios, neither the problem of the SMbios or apple.com...because the problem is still here after I changed the extra to my 1st version.

 

I also checked the presence of AppleUpstreamClient.kext / but it's not in S/L/E and it's of course not in the Extra/Extension.

I have not double-checked it, but will do so this weekend. It works fine on my install and gives identical benchmark scores.

 

I realized that I did not put my LegacyHDA kext in the extensions folder, so just copy the DSDT out and use that with the rest of my old files.

 

I also removed some redundant material from the SMBIOS.plist that Mikux noted. It was inactive, but no reason for it to be there.

are you using the FE1 release now? no issues as it's beta?

if yes, you should submit your DSDT to tonymac , to put it in the database.

 

I cannot try this for now as i'm not near the from this problematic computer.
