jlvaio
some gurus said it's SNC (sony notebook controller) fault, so it make senses. Do you think we can somehow access or edit this snc or we can overwrite this IDAB in dsdt? i think it s really important to get a trick to solve the problem : http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/06/son...-connected-box/ http://www.extremetech.com/computing/92160...t-blow-you-away http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?62...able-Hackintosh

AlexanderPD
How do systems like Ubuntu and Fedora get past this issue? they use latest nvidia driver who fix the problem.. before that nvidia fix people used to force the edid. We alreadi tried to force every single setting (edid too) without any success
InsanelyDuck
Thanks, but Ubuntu works out of the box with no Nvidia drivers. So it must be something more than that.

AlexanderPD
i compared dsdt extracted from osX and from windows, it's exatly the same thing Our problem is this SNC, i don't know how to access it, how to modify it (you can't modify via dsdt) or how to trick it
InsanelyDuck
I agree that SNC ( or Sonypi or one of its other names) is the problem. It governs certain acpi events and, I believe, the way the laptop "speaks" to its screen (maybe generating its own EDID for instance). Either way, on my Vaio as soon as the graphics card is correctly recognised by any means, the screen shuts down.

neoMJ
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/ind...hread-6996.html That's my post in Bios-Mods. I have not tried installing Mac OS X on my Vaio VPCF12M1E because of the internal display problem commonly known. I wanted to be sure that I can change some settings about the video chip etc in BIOS. But I couldn't enable any advanced options yet for my BIOS.
sonrie69
i read the bios mod link... i am, also, not sure about the info that could be change on the bios. i am not an expert, but is not the same to change the dsdt ??? sorry for my ignorance... now i am looking into DSDT , to understand the WMI and some PEGP info ... i wish i could have lots of vaio DSDT to compare that sorts of things... perhaps re-writing the nvidia drivr from FreeBSD driver could help... i don't know... i am thinking on selling this SHI* out... Hi sonrie69, thanks for your effort! If you want I can include my DSDT from a Sony Vaio FZ21M with the "old" 8400M GT only, but I'm on Windows 7 32bit. It's the same thing for you the DSDT-Windows side?
