btw, I don't feel like stealing things from ppl, as long as I give the right credits to whom they belong.

what I was posting to cparm was just a joke between us. And by no mean I did ask him to pay for it. In a way I asked him to recognize that naw-com's patch over there wasn't going to work before I made the necessary changes to it.

And I think this to be legitimate as it took me some time to figure out how and where. Also, let me tell that this had nothing to do with my growing ego (I hated to say). It is just the way guyz over there seemed to adopt in the past.

Again, donations are welcome but they still have different meanings: time, suggestions,...and money (at last resort).

back to boot-loader issues

Second, the FSBFreq, the dmesg shows :

CPU: FSBFreq:					  133MHz

This should be 533Mhz.

and it is: 133 x 4 = 533Mhz
Also, There is another thing,

Errors encountered while starting up the computer.
Pausing 5 seconds...

replace this
	<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>

with this

	<key>Kernel</key>
<string>/mach_kernel</string>

regarding the voltage displaying wrongly, am not sure if your machine were differently manufactured, or if code picked the wrong formula. hope to find out, later on.

Also, pay attention at your smbios.plist edits. I found this:

	<key>SMsystemversion</key>
<string>MP21.88Z.005C.B01.0608221120</string>

and this

	<key>SMbiosversion</key>
<string>MBP51.88Z.00C1.B03.0802271651</string>

they don't seem to be coherent.

 

Only thing I know for certain is that it decreases my Open GL score a little bit (:
this weird. I never had to measure it.
@Valv, also you wouldn't happen to know why sometimes I lose CSTinfo?
I'd have to do some researches. It never happened to me though.
BTW, the mac has a value of 0x1140105 for CSTinfo, which reminds me of the discussion in Speedstep topic on whether C4 States is being enabled or not. Most people have 0x1240105 as their CSTinfo value.

What do we know about this? How could we know if we have all C-States working?

well, what some guyz seem to use, is sorta command (setpci) passed to lpc (specific register).

I myself I rely on reggie_se for this.

can u post an diskutil list dump? Or u can play with the kernel key's value, e.g.:

hd(0,1)/mach_kernel

hd(0,2)/mach_kernel

bt(0,1)/mach_kernel

I might be wrong, but the kernel is loading, isn't it? In that case this is not going to help him.

 

Why doesn't he see the error message(s)?

 

p.s. A diff -re "error(" between RC4 and RC5 will show you where the problem is located, as he said not to see it with RC4.

How did u do to install (steps if possible) ? which fdisk did u use ? which partition(s) is being active ?

First, I install win7 in the second partition with 8G USB key, then install snow leopard from another hard disk with 10.6.3 installed. Second, I use tool to make two partitions for Ubuntu, and use Live CD to install, I keep grub installing Ubuntu / partition. Third, back to os x and install Chameleon boot loader to os x partition by terminal (I have prepared a USB key with Chameleon installed to boot up).

I use fdisk440 write boot0hfs to os x partition, also keep windows partition active.

For the nvcap injection, rename the key to NVCAP_0A29.

Other than that, I 'd need a bdmesg.

1. NVCAP_0A29 doesn't work. Followed your instruction but still get NVCAP from bootloader (GraphicsEnabler=Yes).

2. Can I use AutoResolution feature instead of Graphics Mode? Seems to not working.

3. UseMemDetect - got different mem speeds on identical modules and an error in SysProf/Hardware/Diag.

I have the Nvidia Quadro FX 2800M chip on my HP Elitebook Laptop. On one installation on a 60 gig harddrive, the video card shows up with the correct name in the system info, and the display is ok with the correct naitive resolution.. but video performance is lousy.. Front row seems to studder and when I exit out, my mouse freezes and goes and freezes for aboutr 15 seconds. When I open quicktime the same thing happens with any video.

@Valv, prior to booting, I accidentally touched the keyboard a few times and then delete button the remove the characters I'd typed but after I pressed the enter, it gave me memory allocation error and forced me to restart. I couldn't reproduce the error though.

 

Just let you know.

oh sorry, i thought the bsd support was made by nawcom
it was. but it wasn't going to work in the initial state.

If unsure, remove everything (regarding open/freebsd), merge nawcom's and look what happens.

btw, I saw u 've been removing my name from everywhere on your code (cpu, fixfsb ?). That's not serious I'd like to say.

I can't reproduce it either, the way you describe it... but, try this one: type a "wrong" kernel name and press enter; you will be greeted with the message "Can't find (whatever you typed)"; then try to boot normally... i'd be very surprised if you don't get the memory allocation error :D

oh, I see. Thank u for pointing me in the right way.

your cpu (IIRC) is an pentium D; am going to see what could be done.

@Valv, would you mind looking at my previous post. Now can't use GraphicsEnabler and its related features. After few minutes browsing webs in Safari system hangs up, sometimes immediately when i try to open some website. I supposed it's related to GraphicsEnabler or/and system type (not) recognition. Which key should i to use: PMProfile, system-type, SystemType? Is RestartFix enabled by default? Forgive me many questions.

Just testing, many thanks. It's a cosmetics but would you mind changing the name to NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (like in real MBP6,1)?

3. Is it possible to add autorecognise system type (desktop/mobile/other) feature?

4. IOReg says: cpu-type <01 06> (it's desktop e.g. iMac), but in real MBP6,1: <02 06> (can to overide it ofcourse in smbios.plist).

why don't u make use of a ready made smbios,plist (mbp6,2 in your taste) especially for your memory behavior (probably manufacturing issue). Also, too much errors on your boot.plist (e.g.: fixrestart, system-type, UpdateACPIVersion...). if GenerateCStates is No, no need for C4, C6 keys anymore.

p.s: read BootHelp file from first post.

I've seen BootHelp but is it complete? What features are enabled silently (like RestartFix)?
