brilo
Hello, i have installed SL and upgrade to 10.6.3, The problem is, i can only boot with cpus=1, and it was running very very slow. I cannot open any application though.. Then i try with safe boot -x cpus=1, it was fine. But it was in the safe mode, no sound card and not so good. Any idea to solve this problem? yioulas
could the wifi card be replaced with one that's compatible with osx? I already got one, but I heard that that hp laptops reject mini pci cards that were not build specificly this laptop so the bios needs to be patched in order to replace the wifi. Anyones knows anything about this? I plan to buy an hp dv8 soon but I want to be sure everything will work. cheers

vknyvz
trying Empire EFI V1.085 R2 right now let's see Retail MAC OSX 10.6 does the same think, instant reboot after seeing white screen with apple logo. by the way I HAVE SNOW OS X 3.6 (10.6.2) but darn same same smae problem instant reboot on boot after seeing that white screen with apple logo for one second. i don't have much option in the bios that i can change ??? my laptop specs below, damn this shouldn't be this complicated lol their web site says Empire EFI will not work with problematic systems and graphics card. Common ones are like SONY laptops (some may work and some may not. Depending on your luck) , ATI Mobility Radeon HD series (i.e 3xxx , 4xxx and 5xxx series). Mobility HD Reason will not be supported. Few other odd hardware because of the way how it works guess my high end gpu got one con after all

g4sho
Hi, the cpu halted error would occur for me until I got correct kernel because I have more than 4 gig of memory in my dv8. To solve this issue in the meantime I would type maxmem=4096 as a kernel flag before booting. so weird with Empire EFI V1.085 R2 i have installed the retail OSX 10.6 but on reboot `CPU HALTED` if i try to boot to iDeneb 10.5.8 lite edition `unable to find driver for this platform ACPI` probably cpu related if i try to boot to SnowOSX 3.6 10.6.2 'unable to find driver for this platform ACPI` probably once again cpu related weird why the heck retail installed at least then gives cpu halted error on reboot edit problem solved successfully installed a retail MAC OSX 10.6 DISC and rebooted just fine using Empire EFI V1.085 R2 but most of the applications don't work now! Dragon Master
So, I have dv6t-2300 and I was able to get Snow Leopard installed using this guide, but only if I use the hard drive internally. If I try to boot from an external hard drive, I get an, "EBIOS read error: Device timeout" error. First I tried installing from the external hard drive and everything seemed to go well until after the install was finished. Then after the restart, I started getting the error when I tried to boot into that external hard drive. After doing quite a bit of reading, since nobody seemed to have a definitive answer, I finally figured out that it had something to do with me using an external hard drive. So, I took the hard drive out of the external enclosure and put it inside the laptop and it booted using “–x cpus=1” My main problem is that I still want my original hard drive to be inside the laptop, with Windows 7 and all of the software and games that I have loaded into it, while Snow Leopard boots from an external hard drive. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas. The only thing that I can think of is that there is a special kext that might be used to allow booting from an external hard drive. Any help would be appreciated!
Volcacius
Please someone try this kext http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1460172 I think it would fix wifi not working. I'm gonna buy this laptop and having wifi working is crucial for me. EDIT I see you're using an old version of voodoohda, please try the latest one http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=355 I also think getting mic to work is just a matter of pin config. Dragon Master
All right, I figured out the "EBIOS read error: Device timeout" error problem. The error was because I was booting from a USB external hard drive specifically. As soon as I used an eSATA external hard drive, I was back in action. Though, you can't boot with eSATA drives through the BIOS configurations, so I still have to use the tonymacx86-P55BootCD-nv2xx CD. Now, I have proceeded with the guide up to STEP 3 and am wondering what I do with the remaining items in the "tonymacx86-snowleopard" folder, such as: boot, DSDT.aml, and the contents of the "System - Library - Extensions" folder. I haven't tried anything with boot or DSDT.aml, but as soon as I try to place the contents of the "System - Library - Extensions" folder into /System/Library/Extensions/ and try to repair permissions, everything locks up and I am unable to reboot back into Snow Leopard after having to restart the machine. My main concerns are with the contents of that folder, are they needed or not? If so, are all the kexts needed? If not all are needed, then which ones are? Also, I have an idea what some of the kexts are for, but could someone enlighten me on there purposes? I think that I have figured out that I need to delete AppleHDA.kext since I am using VoodooHDA.kext. Though, I am definitely confused on whether I need both Intel82566MM.kext and RealtekR1000SL.kext since I have a built in Realtek ethernet. Can anyone verify my presumptions and maybe even explain a little bit more for me. Thanks in advance.
