Hi guys,

I'm looking to pickup a Nvidia GTS 450 for my build tomorrow.

It's for use with CUDA and MPE: Premiere Pro CS5, just looking for confirmation if anyone has it working or not? (CUDA enabled)

I ask, as the GTS 450 and GT 240 (ddr5 version) will be the go to card for anyone using their hackint0sh for editing / post...... as long as they work.... :D

My build is currently up and running; perfectly using #####-GE / ##### 9400GT @ OSX 10.6.5, though i need CUDA support for editing HD footage etc.

I've started reading this gigantic thread and will keep working my way backwards.

Thanks for your help and time! :)

i applied to patch (vram_size in mem_detect).

else { // >= NV_ARCH_C0
	vram_size = REG32(NVC0_MEM_CTRLR_RAM_AMOUNT) << 20;
	vram_size *= REG32(NVC0_MEM_CTRLR_COUNT);
}

gt 430 video ram is 1024MB. but detcted 512MB.

hm, weird. maybe it needs some adjustment for cards with gddr3 memory? another register/variable that contains the memory type or sth like that. but as long as the nouveau driver doesn't support it, i can't do much.

Hi

I do all you are say in the installation of the new drivers for the gtx 480.

But it's not work at all :)

I'm always in 1024x768 with no sound :P but with network it's the main...

I used the #####-ge from tonymac for a clean install,the install work good but no sound,that's all.

But the graphic drivers.....Damn

If someone can make a video tutorial for helping me and the other people with the same problem please?

Thx a lot

Applegraphicspowermanagement.kext does not load in macpro3,1 no edit is applied... Is it normal?

yes, and it hasn't been a problem for me so far.

as long as the gpu fan works automatically (which it does) everything is fine :)

cmf, but mine doesnt work correctly and i have lag and vsync issues so far... this kext doesnt load so editing this has no use... is there any other way to make GPU throttle?... mine is GT 430 and i tried to fix the vsync issues based on the method proposed my dreamwatcher but that method used this kext which has no use on macpro3,1. do u have any idea about this?

I found this little tid-bit of information of information from a Chinese blog.

http://translate.google.com.au/translate?h...5445&anno=2

This guy has the GTS 450 and 4-5 other newer cards; up and running with QE/CI Support @ 10.6.5.

Although there is only very brief info in his posts and no real tutorial on how he has achieved this.

Any help will be much appreciated! :thumbup:

I recently replaced one of my 9800 GTX+ in my hackintosh build with a GTX 470.

I have my 470 GTX working fine, but I've lost sound. I was using VoodooHDA 2.7.2 for my Creative X-Fi Titanium and had that fully working in 10.6.5, but now the VoodooHDA driver doesn't seem to detect my sound card (the options for output in the preferences pane in system preferences is grayed out).

For reference, here's my system:

ASUS P6X58D w\ i7 930

Creative X-Fi

GTX 470

9800 GTX+

(I used the EFI string method to get both of my graphics cards working.)

I followed the instructions from the beginning of this thread to get the GTX 470 working, but I'm at a loss to restoring my sound. Any advice?

i'm not sure if this might work, but it's worth a try: gt430_bl_test.zip

please install it and tell me if it still says 512mb.

thanks reply!! boot of gt430_bl_test detects 512mb.

i have a gigabyte GTX470, the screen starts to corrupt almost as soon as i start to play wow :P:( the weird thing is that the graphics intensive login screen works just fine. i have not tried fiddling with the power management yet, really hoping for proper/full support from apple real soon now!

i should note that everything else seems to work ok, there appears to be some slight vsync issues when watching videos but usually not noticeable unless looking for it (slight tearing). don't know about opencl, don't use it.

tried the latest official nvidia drivers, worked fine, even using xbench and opengl extensions viewer, however, the moment logging into the wow world (after authentication) the display freezes, have to ssh in and reboot. very disappointing ;)

updated first post, new fermi package.

Does OpenCL work?

but… What is the difference from cmf's drivers? I don't know )))

So… Do we need AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext from aquamac's Fix2?

http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?boa...amp;thread=1133

And the last suggestion is to merge Prasys's solutions into the one OSX Nvidia Combo pack.

http://prasys.info/2010/10/nvidia-kexts-for-osx/

P.S. What is the main difference from previous drivers besides driver version?

You can lost sound if You applied Aquamac Fermi Fix...

Cause Aquamac replaced AppleHDA kext for some purpose...

I did not use Aquamac's Fermi Driver. I followed cmf's latest (as of 2010/11/21) instructions from the beginning of this thread. These instructions do not seem to replace AppleHDA.kext, so I don't think that is the problem.

if Your sound _really_ worked later - then try to play:

1. I always remove AppleHDA kext if I used VoodooHDA (just i have kernel panic in other cases)

2. You can try roll back AppleHDA and/or use latest VoodooHDA from #####

I'll give that a shot - thanks!

UPDATE:

I already had removed AppleHDA to get VoodooHDA working with my sound card prior to installing my GTX 470. I tried adding the kext, but it didn't seem to affect anything.

I reinstalled VoodooHDA, and I now see the same options I saw before installing the GTX 470 in the Prefs Panel (Line-in, Line out, etc.) However, I still have no sound. Prior to installing the GTX 470, the output tab of the Sound panel in System Preferences had no options (I think). Now I have four "Digital-out (HDMI)" listed as outputs.

This is purely conjecture, but I think if I can disable these new HDMI entries (presumably for the HDMI port on the GTX 470), my sound will work again.

before you actually log in, try changing the video settings so that liquid detail is at its lowest setting and sunshafts are disabled.

I had that exact same problem with that exact same video card both before I updated to the nvidia drivers and after. I don't know how to fix it but at least turning those two settings down let me play the game without causing a hardlock everytime it tries to load water.

the other thing you can do is add (or replace if it is set to something else):

SET gxapi "OpenGL"

to your WTF/Config.wtf file

Hi,

apart from OpenCL not detected seems no support for Flash GPU hardware video decoding (Apple GPU hadware video decoding API returns error)so will go through CPU..

Also CUVID library doesn't work seems..

For that I publish here three binaries for testing all of this:

please install at least 256.01 driver and CUDA driver 3.2.17

see README:

APPLE GPU SUPPORT TESTS

==================

*Tests GPU OCL device detected ->run: ./oclgpudev

*Test GPU has Apple hardware video decoding API support (Apple VDA API) (will be used in Flash for example) ->run: ./vdatest

*Tests NVCUVID support

./cuvid.sh

Please post console output of all apps!

Example output for Fermi GPU:

./oclgpudev

Num platforms 1

Platform 0 Apple

num gpu devices:0

OCL GPU not detected!

./vdatest

Status :-12470

kVDADecoderNoErr = 0

kVDADecoderHardwareNotSupportedErr = -12470

kVDADecoderFormatNotSupportedErr = -12471

kVDADecoderConfigurationError = -12472

kVDADecoderDecoderFailedErr = -12473

returns kVDADecoderHardwareNotSupportedErr doesn't work!
