TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
Sad to see Apple go with only ati cards as much as I'm an ati fan I need nvidia for the CUDA support that adobe has recently implemented into their latest Create Suite. I admire apple going ati but the lack of CUDA would keep me away from an iMac or Mac Pro because they would have to render without the mercury engine which is specific to CUDA supported cards only. It's the reason why I'm leaning to getting a gtx 4xx card once all the quirks are worked out. It's a good thing you have that MBP still.
MacUser2525
how can i find out what version of smbios im running ? and if im not running macPro4,1 how do i change it ? Looking at your /Extra/smbios.plist which controls the Mac Model identification if using it will show you this information also looking in the About This Mac -> More Info -> Hardware tells you as well. Changing is as simply as installing a different smbios.plist or editing the current one with the changed settings.

Changing is as simply as installing a different smbios.plist or editing the current one with the changed settings. i used RC5 r635 which i guess does not install a smbios.plist, in my hardware tab my 460 shows up with 1024 in memory as it should, the model idenitifier is MacPro3,1. i used tonyosx86 nivida drivers, is 17fps for Open gl in cinebench nornal for a PNY460gtx and q8200 @ 2.33 quadcore ? enerxotic
Well, it does work. A bit. Getting into boot, but hanging at a blue screen, and flashing my desktop. It's not allowing me to login at this time, i only see the blue screen with the black mouse. Running 10.6.4. Not updated yet due to a missing kext for the wireless USB stick (sweex LW053 wireless LAN usb adapter). If i boot into safe mode, i can login and do all the other stuff. Almost there! I think it's a kext problem for the GTX460, and i did find this: http://www.ofzenandcomputing.com/zanswers/719. But that is for a MAC and not for a hackintosh. Any word of advice? Thanks in advance! DaveVegas
Hi all, I just managed to get my GTX 480 working on my Asus P6T SE. For everyone who has trouble with Fermi cards and Asus P6T SE = I provided a fermi package for you. IF you have an Asus P6T SE and a Core i7 920 this is good for you. Bootloader, Kexts, Nvidia Update (From Tonymac) With this your brand new fermi card should work on a Asus P6T SE. Cheers Dave Download Asus P6T SE Fermi Package: http://linksave.in/6499121784d1b346eac28f

TomBuntu
EVGA GTX 470 seems to work fine here. But in Cinebench it's actually a bit slower than my GTX 260. -Tom

sabrefresco
howto (follow the links if you don't know what i mean):1. install or update to 10.6.5 (if you're updating from 10.6.4, do not reboot after the update completed! instead, continue with this howto) 2. grab fermi package 2010/11/21 from here (mirrors are welcome): http://hotfile.com/dl/84097554/3977fdc/fer...101121.dmg.html http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R03KDSBF 3. install bootloader located in bootloader/ (if you don't have 'fdisk440', use normal 'fdisk' for now; you already should have installed chameleon before this) 4. add this to your boot plist if you haven't done so already: <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> 5. copy all kexts from kexts/ to /System/Library/Extensions (replace old ones) 6. this only applies if you installed the previous fermi package (2010/08/03) or messed with your opengl/opencl frameworks: copy all frameworks from frameworks/ to /System/Library/Frameworks (replace old ones) 7. clear caches and reboot, or reboot and ignore caches on boot-up I am new to the OSX86 scene so can someone please explain what to do from the 3rd to 7th points for the "howto" part. mwparrish
I hate to be a nag about this... but does anyone have any information regarding full 5xx series support? the lack of QE/CI is a huge issue... CUDA drivers work fine though. The lack of OpenGL/Video for all 5xx series cards is a bit perplexing. I realize the 5xx uses the GF110 core which is obviously modified from the both the GF100s and GF104s. However, they're still Fermi so I would imagine that functionally, the drivers would work as evidenced by the proper loading and function of the NVGF100Hal.kext for my 580. The problem appears to be GeForce.kext as once you remove it from S/L/E the system boots with full resolution. Anything beyond this is a mystery though...
