Remember to delete Graphics Enabler = Yes

Installed OSX on my ASRock Vision 3D. With Chameleon v351, the GT425M is recognized. Unfortunately, the HDMI port stops working after boot. The graphics card does not show anything connected even though the TV is connected. The DVI port works fine and DVI and HDMI both work in Windows. Any ideas?

post-618506-1291932748_thumb.png

The correct version of Chameleon is v651.

I also have a GT 425m, and I followed the guide to install the new drivers and bootloader, but I can't get to the Desktop. With Leopard 10.5.7, I can boot, but I am only getting 1024 x 768 resolution. With Graphics Enabler=yes, the screen is always stuck for about 2 minutes here:

dsc049941024.jpg

After this, everything seems to boot normally, but finally the Desktop does not appear and the last thing I see is this screen:

dsc049971024.jpg

What am I doing wrong? In the information about the Graphics Card, you can see 0MB instead of 1024, is there a way to correct this and get the card working? Or is there a conflict with the Intel HD from the Core i3 370M? Here are additional infos about the card in windows:

Geforce GT425m (HDMI + VGA)

I would be very happy if anybody can help me! :)

loui, I've got a EVGA x58 SLI LE mobo and a i7-950 as well. Running on a vanilla install with a EVGA GTX 465 1G. No kernel panics, no freezing, everything runs pretty smoooth. I'm getting around 23 fps? in cinebench. something like that. But it's a great build. Let me know if you need help.

Is rotation supported on your 465. I have the same EVGA card and I want to see if others have rotation supported.

i'm very disappointed in the freezes. i just purchased a GTX 460 that i'm otherwise happy with, but had to remove because of the instability issues.

i've reverted to my trusty 4850 that has been stable on my system. hopefully nvidia releases updated drivers to correct the kernel panics.

In Win7

The GT425M works correctly with DVI and HDMI.

in OSX 10.6.5 w/Nvidia drvers

On DVI (w/HDMI adapter), the GT425M works correctly.

On HDMI, the system boots but fails to maintain the HDMI connection. Reconnecting the HDMI device doesn't fix the problem.

I'm using the DVI connection w/HDMI adapter (GE=Y) for now. If you only have HDMI, then you'll get 1024 x 768 on an unrecoginized card (GE=N).

Is there more chameleon magic?

Thanks i might just do that.

Though your cinebench score seems a bit low for your card and cpu, and i,am assuming your 465 is a higher spec than my 460 1GB as i get 29-30 fps. I have read earlier in this thread that a cause of this could be to make sure that you are Mac pro 3.1 in your smbios.plist and not 4.1 etc..

Or you can move the AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext out of the way so it does not get loaded and get the better speeds. It does not effect the MP3,1 model but does on the iMac11,1 , MP4,1 , and MP5,1 models I tested when I put together my new machine. BTW anyone know how to edit the Disabler.kext to add that to it? I tried but I can't get it to have the right matching for it not to load it..

i've had tentative success with using an EFI string in lieu of activating GraphicsEnabler in RC5. i'll report back after some testing to see if this is an actual fix or just a placebo.

system crashed in the 3rd hour, so the EFI string i used did not work ;)

It work with premiere, but, I didn't compare with gtx285. I compared both card with blackmagic resolve.

what are the results on DaVinci? is there any gain or is it same story as cinebench... does the card work with no problem with resolve? is it hack or mac? (does DaVinci use opencl or opengl for rendering, do you know?)

thanks

Or should I Install all over again?!

EDIT:

save mode boot and reinstalling fermi package will it help ?!

EDIt 2: I've managed it myself!

Still I want to enable CUDA. I saw that that's possible with the new quadro drivers but how to apply them. Please Respond!

This is how I got my GTX 460 1mb working smoothly.

My Specs:

• Asus P5E Deluxe Intel X48

• Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

• PNY NVidia GeForce GTX 460 1Gig.

• Thermaltake 850w Powersupply

• 4g Ram (Corsair Dominator 2x2g)

• SupremeFX II Audio PCIe (Currently uninstalled)

• Soundblaster X-Fi Ultimate Music PCI

• Seagate Barracuda 500g HardDrives

• Hitachi 400g HardDrive

• ASUS DVD Burner

Fresh install of 10.6.3.

Updated to 10.6.5.

Installed Chameleon onto 10.6.5 drive, graphic enabler= no.

Reboot into 10.6.5.

Installed from Nvidia, Retail_256.01.00f03.dmg. (3-packages after opening package)

Changed Chameleon's com.apple.Boot.plist, graphic enabler= yes.

Reboot into 10.6.5 with mostly working GTX 460. Periodic system hangs and not able to play games.

Opened IORegistryExplorer and made the following notes:

* Where my 460 card was located in PCI0 (was on POP2)

* Various values from the 460, (NVCAP, VRAM,totalsize, device-type, model, rom-revision).

Setup my nvidia dsdt hack in TextEdit with the new values. The code was obtained from tonymacx86-DSDT-FIXES. The NVCAP data had to be reformatted to comma delimiters and 0x prefixes, 8 values per line.

Using DSDTSE extracted my dsdt.

* Locate PCI0.

* Locate POP2, yours is most likely different.

* In the POP2 braces, after the first "Name (_ADR…" line inserted the GFX0 NVidia hack.

* Compile and place in the /Extra folder. Remember to capitalize.

Changed com.apple.Boot.plist GraphicsEnabler to No.

Rebooted into 10.6.5 with a "Working better than NVEnabler or Chameleon graphicsenabler=Yes" hack. The important step was obtaining the correct NVCAP numerals for your system.

Oddly enough I can run smallluxGPU, cinebench. Tried World of Warcraft, I can login, create a character, but cannot actually start the game without it freezing the whole system. It does render a frame, maybe 2 frames before it crashes.

I can use 2 monitors correctly. I currently am using a dvi and the hdmi outputs. It mirrors and goes sidebyside okay.

Update: It seems the NVCAP numbers in this method are not the actual values from ROM. I followed the directions in this post to get the actual numbers from my card. Get your actual NVCAP numbers here.

ASUS P7P55D-E LX Core i5 650 3.2 GHz 8 GiB DDR3 ACER GD245HQ PoV 470 GTX 1280 MiB Worked perfectly, many thanks. But i dont like fonts, on Win7 is more smoother :-D

I have checked your screenshot and by zooming in 400% I noticed that subpixel font smoothing isn't activated. It's a common problem.

Use this terminal command and it should look like on the right side.

defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2

It should look like this. Do you see the colored subpixels on the right? Please click on the attachment to get it zoomed.
