wow! Thanks dude ^^That sounds a little complicated. Do you mind making a noob guide? Pretty please ;)

Ok, but do you have to use an EFI partition for your motherboard like i do,its a p5k but not all MB's need this work around. if so then i will try and guide you.

I dunno.. I'll tell you how I installed OSX, my specs and maybe you will know what to do.

I installed it using:

1. #####-GE and a retail snow leopard DVD.

2. Installed Combo update 10.6.5 (didn't restart)

3. Used ##### with #####,

Advanced:

Audio: LegaceHDA:ALC889, HDAenabler:ALC889

Disc: JMicron36x SATA

Graphics: NVenabler

Ethernet: RT1000SL

Miscellaneous: USB 3.0 Support

Chameleon: Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r643

com.apple.boot.plist: 64-bit Apple Boot Screen

smbios.plist: MacPro3,1 (Auto-Detect CPU)

and lastly: I checked the "System Utility" Rebuild Repair

4. I installed the "tonymacx86 NVIDIA Update" (modified Retail Mac Driver 256.01.00f03)

5. reboot.

6. Added some Kernel flags to com.apple.boot.plist "Arch=i386 Busratio=22" and doas the Rebuild and Repair before I reboot once again.

I get stuck with a blue screen every time I change the resolution. But then I reboot and can successfully boot into the right resolution.

Used the install instructions on tonymac's blog to install MAC OS X 10.6.0 from scratch, couldn't get the 10.6.3 disc to install on my machine. Used tonymac's ##### and nVidia installer. Working as everyone else's is. Vsync is good, don't know about OpenCL.

Some people were having trouble with World of Warcraft and I was also. I disabled Sunshafts in the Video options and it's running properly now. Been playing it all day with no lockups or issues. Performance is not as good as windows or linux (under wine), but its playable. I see it as a fair trade off to not be running Windows.

Mac OS X it's self seems to run fine too. My audio DOES NOT work after the video driver update. Using a real crappy usb audio dongle. it sucks.

My card is an evga GTX 470 (femi) 1.25GB

Thats good you sorted out your system profile info, but your score could be right for your system.

You see the previous guy got a very good OpenGL cinebench score as he has overclocked his CPU to 4.10Ghz which is going to push his score up quite a bit.

Ok thanks. I have heard too many people getting over 30fps so I thought something was wrong. But maybe it isn't then :thumbsup_anim:

I would prob get the same score as you but have not checked. but i know that i only get about 29-30fps openGL on cinebench because i have overclocked my Q9550 @2833Ghz to 3400Ghhz.

This is a stable overclock and i have pushed it a lot further to 3.8 before now!! so if you want higher scores then you need to be looking at optimizing your system, but this would have to be another thread!

Thank you again ^^ I feel like I can relax for a while and start using my stuff. I might wanna over-clock it later on.

But for now I just enjoy it that everything looks and works like it should :thumbsup_anim:

@DaniPoo

IMHO

doesnt matter if u OC ur system or not, coz OpenGL score pure from Graphic Card, not CPU, in my test nothing different if am OCing my system or running default, just got the same score on OpenGL,

in my system am using MacPro 5.1 w/o removing AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext and I got lower score on Cinebench, but if I remove that kexts, wow, I got higher score,

but if u use MacPro 3.1 u dont have to remove/edit that kext,

CMIIW

btw,

have u tested with OpenCL benchmark??? LoL...

try to use MacPro 5.1 with removing AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext (actually its just edit it, not remove it, but am still looking how to edit it) ;)

how bout ur Cinebench score???

[uPDATE]

test with editing AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext

- Show Package Contents/Contents/Info.plist

- short to MacPro5.1 section

- change device ID to 0e22 (for GTX460)

editgraphicpower.jpg

and this my Cinebench score after editing :

Well.. Since its gone. I need to get a new one.. How do I get a new one?

Now I have tried with MacPro5,1 and deleted AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext.

I still get a Sinebench core of 22.88fps. How can I restore or get a new AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext for snow leopard 10.6.5?

You can download both the 10.6.5 combo update and Pacifist.app then open the combo with Pacifist to extract the .kext you need from it. BTW the next time you may want to consider something like mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext.original.10.6.5 to move it out of the way with no .kext on the end it will not be used so just like you deleted it. Or if making changes to the .kext then use cp -Rp in place of the mv to make a copy before editing so you can reverse the process if things do not go as you want.

Well.. I have tried to freshinstall OSX with your guide. but this time I did just edit theAppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext. cinebench gives me around 23fps.

Are you sure that the CPU doesnt have anything to do with the OpenGL?

You could always over clock your system and see for yourself, there are plenty of guides out there for your chip

status of quadro 4000 cards (fermi) changed on apple website to 1-2 months, hopefully there will be official drivers soon or in next OSX patch (apple writes their own drivers)

i guess i will give this gfx a try afterall, instead of ati5870 as there are still many problems with them...(still dont get it why as 5870 is used in macpro)

hhmm,

if u have installed with following my guide than it will work fine, IMHO the Cinebench score for GTX460 w/o OCing CPU around 23-25 FPS is normal,

so, just enjoy ur GTX460 with Mac OS X, :sorcerer:

last, anyone success with OpenCL issue???

helo deDante,

does your setup is stable without random freeze / kernel panic ??

coz my setup (zotac gtx 460 768) always got random freeze when i play ford racing 2 (rosetta)

on cinebech i only got 18 fps (with dsdt) and 22 fps (without dsdt /#####)
