Suck. I can't start testing this out for like 8 hours.

Can someone confirm for me if:

1. Rotation works

2. All three monitor ports work simultaneously

Thanks in advance

(480 here) Rotation menu doesn't even appear in the Displays preferences. I have 2 monitors, so can't test a third one. 2 DVI ports running OK.

Rodrigo.

Run Kext Utility after you save the change.

Anyway, I don't want to get off topic. Fermi is working without VSync issues! GTX 480, 470, and 460 now confirmed!

Edit: Did you reboot?

Quadro 4000 (fermi) support....

Who will test it now?

New nVidia Quadro Drivers release for Mac OS X Snow Leopard

What are the odds that nividia released these drivers the day my 470 showed up?

Retail osx running 10.6.5, previously had a 9800 GTX+, I installed these drivers and then installed an EVGA GTX 470, everything worked perfectly upon reboot as it was before, no hacks or extra kexts to install.

UPDATE: I only get 23FPS in cinebench, and according to OpenGL Extensions Viewer, no 3.0+ tests will run. Starcraft 2 hangs on attempting to load the main menu screen, probably related to the lack of opengl 3.0 support in this driver.

Ok so the official drivers are out :) any news about OpenCL and CUDA? I use my hackintosh as a workstation, i'm working with maya a lot, octane render which is CUDA, Premiere CS5 which is also CUDA, now vray RT for maya 2011 mac edition is released and is OpenCL and it works only with nvidia cards (ATi has problem with textures and a lot o bugs). Does any body know that GTX 460 with 2 GB of ram is 100% supported? Right now i have GTX 275 with 1792 MB and nvenabler doesn't fully recognize the card and the OpenCL\CUDA and OpenGL performance is about the same as a 9600GT . Can please anyone update the kext for GTX 460 2 GB plese, is possible?

installation went surprisingly smooth and trouble-free (especially on my hacked together 10.6.5 early beta+10.6.4 drivers) :D

so, if you already have 10.6.4 + fermi driver package installed, simply install 10.6.5 (do not reboot!), install the new nvidia driver, reboot, everything should work.

this both fixes the opengl performance and the vsync issue.

opencl still doesn't work :/ cuda however does.

I am surprised that you still hang in there, as stated earlier, Apple have never released updated drivers for graphic cards or graphic chips that is not in their product line, and no custom drivers have been released since it´s basically to hard to hack together.

Either a ATI Radeon HD 5870 or a ATI Radeon HD 5770 is a safe bet, since they are in the latest Mac Pro´s.

Thanks for the post!

Looks like some people are reporting working GTX460s with the latest & greatest drivers!! Wooot!

Yeah, who wants a Radeon HD 5870 now? Hehe.

loui:

You don't have to do anything special if you already have QE/CI working with your 9800GTX+ with Chameleon GraphicsEnabler=y.

Just update to 10.6.5, install the new nvidia drivers and swap video cards and it should work.

Unless you use the patched Chameleon from the first page of this thread, the GTX460 will probably show as 'unknown' in System Profiler but that's just cosmetic and does not affect performance in any way.

do i need to delete any previously installed kexts from the guide?

No, updating to 10.6.5 and/or installing the new nvidia drivers will overwrite the modified kexts from the guide.

Can someone confirm for me if:

1. Rotation works

2. All three monitor ports work simultaneously

The OS X Nvidia drivers can only support two displays at a time for each video card.

No luck with my eVGA 460 SC 1Gb.

I have done a clean installation using ##### 2.5.1 and a 9500GT, updated to 10.6.5 and installed new nVidia drivers. All work fine. Swap the 9500GT with my GTX460 and I lost everything, no Quartz and resolution is stuck in 1024x768.

I have to wait  :P

Quick question: anyone with 460 SLI made them work on OS X?

OS X does not support SLI (or Crossfire).

Swap the 9500GT with my GTX460 and I lost everything, no Quartz and resolution is stuck in 1024x768.

Not necessarily, maybe its as simple as adding your cards device ID to GF100HAL.kext.

Google 'guide for all nvidia boards' and follow the examples given there.

OS X does not support SLI

Did you even read the rest of the post?

I know it doesn't support SLI, I was just wondering if I can get at least one card working without too many headaches. I've done it before with 260s and I had to experiment a lot(from installation to getting an actual useable system with QE).

hmmm i think aqua-mac's installer uses some 10.6.4 kexts... after i installed the nvidia driver i ended up with black and white blocks again. (this is with 10.6.5 update) I'm going to try to download the 10.6.5 combo update and install it again (does that work if I'm already on 10.6.5??) and try installing the nvidia driver again.

Any suggestions?

*update*

Happy to report - I booted to safemode and installed combo update (10.6.5) and nvidia driver again - I'm now back in fully supported gtx 470 in 10.6.5.

I'm going to start testing cuda and opencl soon but from earlier post it looks like only cuda is supported?

Look at info.plist inside GF100Hal.kext and check for your device ID, see if device IDs for other GF108 based cards are in there.

If not, add it and try. Other 430 users will be grateful for it.

Some device IDs are here (incomplete list) : http://pastebin.com/ZR5RHRxU (posted previously in this thread).

Yes, I read all of your post. It wasn't that long.

You wrote "get them working". To me "them" means both video cards.

If you could get two other identical video cards working at the same time in OS X before, you already know how to do it. Just try it, the drivers came out today, nobody knows if two GTX 460's will work yet! Be the first and tell us if it works.
