Hey guys I have been working a lot so I haven't been able to stop by here.

 

2 questions. River86, I already rebooted after installing 10.6.4. Would it be possible for me to follow this fishinrocks95 method?

 

Question 2: Although this thread is currently the sole authority for getting GF100 cards working, it is written at an expert-level. I am new to osx86, and I don't yet understand DSDTs, kexts, plists, etc. Are there any beginner-level step by step guides for getting OSX working that I could read and then come back to this thread and understand what it is saying?

 

 

if the computer starts up in 10.6.4 u should have no problem in my opinion.

 

Now, i have to report sporadic kernel panics during normal use, i would atribute it to my 4gb 1066 ram running in dual channel since the issue is exactly the same i had in 10.5.7 with >2gb ram, i took the RAM pill out and am testing stability atm.

 

IDK if anyone have seen hardcoded kext for 1066 ram?? since that solved the issue for me last time.

 

second question, yeah is really mind boggling at first and idk if is it an effort for some users to be ELITIST or what, but the instruction leave something to desire here (including the lack of linking).

ok, quick update, until now i was having issues watching videos in youtube via Google Chrome, the flash videos didn't played and if i modified the zoom the video would just show for 2 frames, now i have installed the graphic update am linking down here:

and it solved the issue. am attaching my results from the open GL viewer.

update 1 - well seems like having moar than 2gb of ram is not sitting well with my hackintosh, am going to do some test tomorrow having them in single channel (i had them in dual channel) to see if things behave diferently, maybe i should do some BIOS config (my mobo is factory settings atm)

Tried it with broken EDID (definition for EDID) so maybe someone can get some sync issues resolved...

 

 

how serious are these vsyc issues, i mean, i see the vsyc like every 40 secs only during movies, but it's not like something that really bothers me (i use my mac mostly for design.)

soo... i need to find a way to apply the fermi package into the bootcd or is there another way to install 10.6

or just to find a 10.6.4 with fermi drivers ?!

I have a GTX460 I bought after skimming this thread..... it of course doesn't work, but I'm wondering is there a way to get the card to work in VGA/VESA mode without giving the -x flag while we wait for drivers?

 

If you remove /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext

 

your system will boot to low graphics mode without -x

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext

 

pressing enter

 

putting your pass and crossing ur fingers while restart, right?

It occurs to me that the recent release of the new Quadros does not mean anything good for gtx 460's owners hopes of getting drivers. Since the Quadros do not include any gf104 based cards among them, just gf100, gf106 and gf108. So even if they do get mac versions released, the drivers aren't going to support a 460.

Hi! First OSx86 install and everything has been going smoothly thanks to all of the development here but I'm having trouble with SLI and my 470's, specs as follows:

MSI P55-GD80

MSI GTX 470

i5-760

4GB RAM...

 

I installed using a 10.6.3 retail disc and tonyxmac's fermi [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] disc (v2) in safe mode with a single card and no problem. I then updated to 10.6.4 (WITHOUT installing the graphics update as that'd hang) installed the drivers at the beginning of this thread and was able to boot normally using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. I then followed aqua-mac's multiple gpu instructions using the in.plist written for blindwarrior and was able to boot normally with either graphics card in either slot but never with both (with or without the sli bridge). In both normal boots and safe mode I'd make it through the loading spinner screen/the progress bar would go away in safe mode, either display (I have two, have tried just one in all scenarios) would flash a few times without turning blue, and then the system reboots just before loading the desktop. Any suggestions?

 

P.S. Thanks again to the community, I had always wanted to try OSx86 out but always thought it wasn't worth the hassle when I have a macbook around but installation was a breeze even with my chocolate hardware thanks to all of the development and user's documentation. Thanks!

Hope i'm not off-topic but I've got the same SYNC problem also with my geforce 9800gt (hackintosh), and my new macbook pro mid 2010 (nvidia 320m).

The problem for me occurs only during video playback and scroll in firefox browser. with Safari it seem all ok. It might be a problem with firefox or is related to EDID (don't think so..)?? tnx all and sorry for english

No, still nothing that helps. I can now boot without the -x switch, and it ID's the chipset etc, but no QE/CI support.

Quick translation for anyone who doesn't speak Russian (Перевожу вопрос на Английский язик):

 

Nvidia GTX 460 - got it working at 1280x1024x32 (he probably means 1024x768x32), but want 1680x1050x32. Video works, but games do not launch. Are there any kext files for the 460 card?

Any suggestions here? Did a clean install, here is my full install:

2. At this point everything is working except for sleep and my PCI WIFI which is installed and recognized and just needs the 10.5 driver Rosewill/Ralink provides. So, time for a second graphics card (I think)...

 

1. Just install and see if it works - kernel panics

 

2. Try using GFX Strings

a. follow this guide USING 10.6.4 and the .plist linked above from this thread, add key and string to boot.plist, repair permissions - UNLIKE LAST TIME I got a different PCI address for my second card - odd?

b. boot using [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] -v with both cards installed, get problem mentioned above - screen turns black and flashes resolution change, reboots

Fixes I've tried for this method - tried using the second DVI port on the first card and got the same problem, tried using the dvi ports on the second card and got nothing (no POST screen), no BIOS options on p55-gd80 for graphics slot preference (just PCI or PCIE). I can boot in normal mode using [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] without a problem with either card in either slot but never with both, even with -x.

 

3. DSDT

a. tried inserting the DSDT edit posted here at PCI0, boot with [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] -v, hangs at boot - can't find usb, can't find hard disk...

Fixes: the DSDT for MSI boards seems to be very different than the Gigabyte boards - my PCI0 section seems to contain all of the onboard peripherals...

 

Any suggestions? Maybe someone has a working P55-GDxx DSDT for multiple cards? Maybe I shouldn't have used [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] and/or [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url]? 4. Tried this method and have the same problem! Made my gfx string with the method above

a. Tried editing my DSDT at PCI0 modeled after the DSDT jbo44 posted here for his gd85 (4th post down using his "fixed" code), same results

b. Tried again with his working dual card DSDT for his gd85 (his cards are in the same slots), downloaded, compiled with DSDTSE, same results...

 

Help? Please?

 

P.S. "Same results" means boots all the way through -v, black screen at blue screen/desktop, system restart. All attempts made with -f, -v, -f -v with monitor in 1st and then second output, no output at all on second card (probably due to bios). No kernel panics, no problems I notice in verbose mode.

 

Here are the DSDTs I've tried with, my in.plist, my out.hex, my boot.plists, and my reginfo. For some reason I couldn't upload .aml and so on so i zipped them.

 

 

 

 

EDIT: Tried compiling my hex with gfxutil on an ibook g4 running 10.5.8 and got a different hex (i thought gfxutil worked in 10.6.4?), tried with all three dsdts and still get the exact same results

 

EDIT 2: I've been downloading these files to try compiling the hex on different computers... got the same hex on my macbook (10.6.4) as I did on my OSX86 machine and the same hex I got using the first ibook on a second ibook, all using the same .plist linked above...

Guys i need some help here.

 

I have read the entire thread.

 

So i installed and updated to 10.6.4 with my 9800 gt.

 

I swapped the cards and i use tonymacxs [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] fermi. Msi gtx 465 flashed to a 470 bios.

 

I have mounted the package and replaced the kexts and frameworks.

 

I am failing miserably in installing the boot loader. I have read the documentation provided ( i aint lazy ) but i simply just don't know how to do it.

 

can anyone just give me some advice here ?? please
