Azurael Posted March 25, 2007 Share Posted March 25, 2007 I used to have a lot of older Macs (Performa 630 was my first, got that after my A1200, then a PowerMac 5500/225) but the only one I've got laying around still is a Power Computing PowerCenter Pro 240, unless you count the B&W G3 as old, but that was the second NewWorld Mac. Khan_Man Posted May 2, 2007 Share Posted May 2, 2007 I'm not sure I have space. :-) In the building - Dead IIc - 2x Apple IIe w/ floppies - Mac Plus (2.5 meg, 100 meg external drive, sys 7.1) Ran my midi studio, it used to be a 512Ke but upgraded - 2x SE 30 (4 meg, 100 meg HD, sys 7.1 w/ ethernet) is runnin my midi studio - LC II (6? megs, can't remember HD, sys 7.1 w/ ethernet, 12" monitor) what a POS but my first computer to get on the internet (14.4 baud, remember FreePPP?- what a POS) - LC III (20 meg, HD, sys 7.5.5 I think), over clocked to 25 MHz :-) - Quadra 950 (601/100MHz, 44 meg, 10 gig, sys 8.1) this was my first file server, amazing hardware - Powercenter Pro 210 (G3 300MHz, 112 megs of ram, 2 gig drive, sys 9.1) runs Protools LE - 7500 (G3 450MHz, 384 meg, total of 15 gig SCSI HDs, sys 9.1 and 10.3.9, USB...) Frank'nMac :-) - G3 B/W (G3 450MHz, 512 meg, 40 gig, PCI 7000 64meg QE, burner) used to be my server, portable POS - Powerbook (G3 266 13.1", 192 meg, HD?,) I use it to guide telescope - Lombard (G3 400, 384, 30 gig, sys 9.2.2 and 10.3.9) My dad is using this as a internet radio receiver I used to own - Powerbook 540c (040, 20 meg, 500 meg HD) played a lot of Civ II - LC 580 (non CD) - LC 580CD (040, 20 meg, ?HD) it played a lot of Civ II to - Powerbook 3400 (603 240MHz, 80 meg, 3 gig) At work - a few Plusses and SEs - a couple of IIe (one with a comm card, 300 baud - 6100/66 (72 meg ram whoot, 750 meg drive, no CD, sys 7.5.5) - iMac 266 (192 meg I think, 6 gig drive, sys 9.2.2) all working and on a desk I managed to avoid those nasty 603s (except for the 3400). loki936 Posted May 21, 2007 Share Posted May 21, 2007 I have a blue G4 400mhz, a PowerMac G4 800 (2 processor), PowerBook 1400cs (probably with 8mb or 16mb RAM) and an Apple Newton 110! The original PDA and it still works! I think I have another PowerBook laying around as well, but I would have to go through boxes to verify. The dark ages are alive in well here! Enjoy! I run across them for a dollar or two at yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores, etc, and end up taking them home. Now people are even giving them to me. B&W PowerMac #1 - 450MHz G3 CPU, Radeon 7000 (64MB), 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, DVD-RW B&W PowerMac #2 - 400MHz G3 CPU, Rage128 (16MB)x2, 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, DVD-RW B&W PowerMac #3 - 500MHz G4 CPU (overclocked 100MHz), GeForce Fx5200 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, DVD-RW Yikes PowerMac - 400MHz G4, Stock Rage 128 VC, 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, DVD-RW Digital Audio PowerMac - 667MHz G4 CPU, GeForce Fx5200, 1.5GB RAM, 500GB HDD, DVD-RW All machines have 10.4 on them and none of them have seen the light of day in about a years time. G-Force Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 A PowerBook 1400cs/166 with a 2gig hard disk and 40MB of RAM. It has no battery (only the battery casing), the power supply is a non-Apple one but works fine, the backup battery is dead and the speaker sounds weird but works. WhyOSX Posted June 19, 2008 Share Posted June 19, 2008 I got an iMac 266 for 3.83 Euros (approx. 5 Dollars, I guess) among these: This is what is lying around (and sometimes working): My first Mac was an LC 10/120 33MHz, a fast one in 1994, built in early 1992. It has an external Apple CD 150, single-speed with legendary "caddies", hardly cola-resistant. These and the fantastic brillant 12"-Apple RGB-Monitor are waiting for a 475 or motherboard. It is bright green with orange, no boring gray except for small keyboard and ADB-Mouse (I). Secondly there is a 3-button Logitech MouseMan, not working with Systems newer than 7.5.5. (never tried 7.6 although I have the CD) [475 arrived, running nice and slow with 8.1, no MouseMan either]. Second one to come along was a 5300, killed in an SCSI-crash but soon replaced by a 5400/180, still working pretty fine with 8.6. It has a 13.0GB-HD (=12.1GB), internal zip 100, external Teac-CD-Burner (CD-R56S4), external Apple CD (Mat{censored}a CR-8008)) and an EON-44-MB-Syquest-Drive; an extended keyboard and a small one, wacom Art-Pad II and ADB Mouse II. Built up to 136 MB RAM, has a 2-slot USB-Card (Genesys Logic 1.4.1) at the PCI-Port and external Monitor-Capability (Apple Ext. Video-Connector), and the original Performa TV-Card. There is a Geoport, of course (I may use it as a telephone...), and yet another MoDem. Printing is done by StyleWriter II, you may have guessed. Reading pictures via Microtek ScanMaker II or a hand-held Logitech ScanMan black&white/256 grays. 14"-built-in-Monitor-Solution (Apple Multiple-Scan) is limited to 832x624 for 256 colours only or 640x480 with up to 32768. It worked with 7.5.5, 8.0; 8.1; 8.5.1 and a very stable 8.6 with 147 extensions (no foolin’) over the past eleven years for about 32,700 hours of use (information obtained by free utility TechTool 1.2.1 by MicroMat) There is another 5400/180 with poor 56MB RAM running a "stripped" then fast 9.1 (nothing not necessary for iTunes) prepaired for being upgraded to 250 MHz (metabox) with two internal HDs (2 & 10 GBs), an external Syquest 200MB/CD-ROM(8x)-combined-Drive, 4-slot USB-Card, built-in-Monitor for up to 1024x768 pixels. No TV-Card here, but there’s one in my black Performa 5200/75, one of the early ones with NuBus-technology and close to "brand new & original", built in 1995, I guess. Really slow but reliable with 8.5.1. I can change the motherboard to one from a 6500, easily identified as one for 5500, presenting millions of colours then but without support for the TV-card. Monitor solutions of up to 1024x768 pixels with ridiculously tiny symbols then are possible. There is a number of HDs I use, I have had bad results with WesternDigital 40 (32 ! installed!) and a 20.4 (19.1)GB –Seagate-discs. Best ones to use on older Mac-systems are Quantum and Maxtor discs, a 2GB by NEC (50 pins) is working fine as well on the 5xxx-computers. Next thing to try is a jaz-drive. They accompany my G4/733MHz – 512MB, Tiger 10.4.11 controls three HDs 40 & 4 GB, smaller one containing "Classic”, and two DVD-Writers, one of them on the USB-ports, a DVD-player on USB). A Maxtor 80GB came in reserved for documents only (as my music library). There are external zip (USB) and 3,25”-floppy (USB as well, kind of "post-modern”-nostagia) to be used where they are needed or I wish to use them. Changing a zip-disk may be done faster than changing a USB-stick ! Actions of any kind are shown on a HannsG-TFT (17”)-monitor. Now tere are two PowerBooks of the 1400 family, a "c” (System 8.1) and a "/166” (System 8.6), a G3 blue and white tower that annoys me to pieces trying to run 9.2 from any of my two iMacs G3 (266 & 350 MHz), I’m working on these problems. Nine ... count 'em ... nine Apple Network Servers. Seven 700s and two 500s. Many have the optional 200 MHz processor card. Most 700s have the optional redundant PSU. I bought much of the remaining stock of an Apple dismantler, and have boxes full of 68- and 50-pin disk drawers and several dozen 4 GB (50-pin), 9 GB (68-pin), 18 GB (68-pin) and 36 GB (68-pin) drives to go into them, and scads of miscellaneous replacement parts, certainly enough to keep the ANSes working for the next couple of decades. About a dozen 8600 and 9600 Macs, some Mach V, but most are pre-Mach V. About a half-dozen Beige G3 Macs. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's a rather low-end Powermac for the time, with a 275 MHz PowerPC 603e, more comparable with the Performa series. It hasn't run for weeks though, since my father got his white Macbook, and now he runs the Macbook and an eMac bought in 2004 (one of two, the other was originally mine but due to lack of use, I gave it to my mother).
