AvinashRx
I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with 8800GT as the graphics card. I've already installed the nvinject.kext and other video drivers that came along with the it. I'm trying to run the newly released Aperture 3. But when I start it, I get an error message saying that my graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirement. Please Help. I think 8800GT is quite a powerful graphics card do this job. Thanks

BiTRiP
But why extra drivers for this card? It just work fine with stock kexts from Apple and the graphicsenabler in com.apple.Boot.plist. (as long as you use Chameleon or Chameleon based bootloader) <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>y</string> Be sure you remove all 'non vanilla video kexts' if you use this string. I have this card too and it just works fine. BiTRiP

mitch_de
I think also QE/CI isnt working with your setting ! Or if QE/CI works, the VRAM is reported wrong - must be 256MB for my knowledge to run Aperture. So check your VRAM injection (by those .kext) with systemprofiler Grafik VRAM if you must setup the vram (in .plist) . IF you already have an dsdt in running, i would add the 8800GT injection there. You dont need any .kext anymore = much less problems! Here my dsdt part: Device (GFX0) { Name (_ADR, Zero) Name (_SUN, One) Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x16) { "@0,compatible", Buffer (0x0B) { "NVDA,NVMac" }, "@0,device_type", Buffer (0x08) { "display" }, "@0,name", Buffer (0x0F) { "NVDA,Display-A" }, "@1,compatible", Buffer (0x0B) { "NVDA,NVMac" }, "@1,device_type", Buffer (0x08) { "display" }, "@1,name", Buffer (0x0F) { "NVDA,Display-B" }, "NVCAP", Buffer (0x18) { /* 0000 */ 0x04, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x03, 0x00, /* 0008 */ 0x0C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x07, /* 0010 */ 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 }, "VRAM,totalsize", Buffer (0x04) { 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x30 // 0x30=768 MB, 0x20=512 MB }, "device_type", Buffer (0x0D) { "NVDA,GeForce" }, "model", Buffer (0x18) // (0x17) { "nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX" // "nVidia GeForce 8800 GT" }, "rom-revision", Buffer (0x25) { "nVidia GeForce 8800 GT OpenGL Engine" } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) }
BiTRiP
What do you mean by extra drivers? I just installed the NVinject.kext and NVEnabler64.kext, nothing more. Well, those you mentioned are extra non vanilla drivers right? (not standard in system) To get the 8800GT working you don't need any driver installed. I assume you use Chameleon RC3 or RC4, then all you have to do is add those line I pasted earlier in com.apple.Boot.plist and remove all injectors or drivers like NVinject and NVEnabler64 etc... Then 8800GT is working fine with all its options. BiTRiP

I've tried almost everything and can't get it to reigster on my snow leopard at all All I get is; Display: Type: GPU Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 128 MB Device ID: 0x0405 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Vendor ID: 0x15ad

I've tried almost everything and can't get it to reigster on my snow leopard at all All I get is; Yes, it should work for your card too. But there is a bug in some DSDT's of some motherboards. you can check using gfxutil: gfxutil -f display It should start with “PciRoot(0×0)”, if it’s “PciRoot(0×1)” then it can be fixed with a DSDT edit by changing the _UID of the PCI0 (this is the common name for it) device from 1 to 0: Device (PCI0) { … Name (_UID, Zero) … } BiTRiP
muitommy
Mine is working fine too. I used DSDT as the enabler the cards, with CE/QI enabled.
AvinashRx
Mine is working fine too. I used DSDT as the enabler the cards, with CE/QI enabled. I did that but still Aperture 3 doesn't seem to open. Furthermore when I try to edit pictures in iPhoto, all I get is a blank screen.
differentcloud
Hi, I have a problem similar to yours... When I try to install Aperture 3 it gives your error, why? I have a Sapphire 1650 pro installed and this is what gives in my system information about my graphic card: Radeon X1600 Pro: Modello Chipset: Radeon X1600 Pro Tipo: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 Larghezza Lane PCIe: x16 VRAM (totale): 256 MB Fornitore: ATI (0x1002) ID dispositivo: 0x71c6 ID revisione: 0x0000 Revisione ROM: 113-B7710C-176 Versione driver EFI: 01.00.068 Monitor: SDM-HS95: Risoluzione: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz Profondità pixel: Colore 32 bit (ARGB8888) Monitor principale: S“ Mirror: Spento Online: S“ Mostra connettore: Stato: Nessun monitor collegato I also noticed that Front row and Preview don't function.... do you know why? thanks for your support. **edit** I just modified the model of my graphic card in ATIinject.kext with terminal and all worked!!!!!!! BiTRiP I confirm what BiTRiP said ; just installed Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on P5Q with 8800GTS(640MB) and adding the following in com.apple.Boot.plist fixed everything. No need of nvinject or third party drivers : <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>y</string>
geiman
Just wanted to add one more confirmation; I've had my graphics working by defining it in my DSDT, and also with an EFI string in my Boot.plist, and both methods allow me to use Aperture 3 perfectly with an 8800GTS. multigl
I can use aperture 3 here as well (gtx260, GraphicsEnabler=Yes method). However the UI is very sluggish, especially when compared to my late 2008 macbook pro. I did some testing, with quartz debug + aperture 3 on both machines: osx86 (i5 750, 8GB, gtx260) ~50FPS macbookpro ~ 40FPS What's even more bizarre is that Aperture does run nearly 3x as fast for doing big batch imports/exports on my osx86 than real apple hardware. maybe something's wrong with my ui in general woops, turns out my monitor was plugged into DVI port2, and I {censored} you not UI is 100x faster when plugged into DVI Port1. When i try to open Aperture 3, i receive a windows msg like the graphic card does not meet the minimum requirements.
