Swad
A thread for you to share with us the music you think we should be listening to. Feel free to post as often as you'd like! Top of my list of music for friends right now: MuteMath - Mute Math You have probably never heard of these guys, but they're one of the best sleeper albums of the year. Great prog and experimental rock. Keane - Under the Iron Sea Not as good as their first album, and a little less accessible initially, but easy to get into after several listens. Chris Thile - Not All Who Wander Are Lost Great contemporary bluegrass album from a member of Nickel Creek (another great group).
Mr. Bond
The Mars Volta - Deloused In The Comatorium One of my favourite bands. While not a household name (yet), they're quickly gaining popularity, especially with the growing relationship with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Absolutely mindblowing stuff, and probably some of the best prog/experimental/latin-infused rock band you'll hear today. While not as good, IMO, their second album Frances The Mute is equally amazing and enjoyable to listen to. Additionally, their third studio album is set to be released August 22. Death From Above 1979 - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine It's amazing what these two guys, simply a Drum & Bass duo can come up with, consisting of some solid rock-infused dance beats. While some of the songs on the album do suffer from sounding eerily similar, it's a refreshing change from your standard 3/4/5 piece guitar band. Even more awesome, is their remix album Romance, Bloody Romance which builds upon much of the success of their debut album, infusing it with some new and creative life. Not sure how accesible these guys are where ever you might be, but you can always try you're favourite P2P program and see what you think (they're fairly local...a Toronto indie band, but pretty big in Japan, strangely). Much more to mention another time.... Edit: Lol...Limewire categorized one Mutemath's songs as "Christian Space Rock". Odd...
