hey, I had the same problem 2 months ago. was going mad ;)

 

Please disconnect VGA card, blow out all the dust and connect again....mine was overheating after the apple video update due to dust...still little noisy but now but it works. Hope this help :D

Yeah I bought a new case and cleared out as much dust as possible but still had the same problems.

 

Will give it a good blow out tonight and see what happens.

 

I backup up all my data so could do a clean install...but I lost my Snow Leopard disc.

 

I installed Windows 7 on machine and still had graphic glitches so reinstall wouldn't help ;)

I have "ready" a new version of DSDT (using *SDT tables and the new Chameleon 2 RC5) I just waiting 10.6.5 will OUT...

 

So... post your Ioreg and will see if we can inject or what we can do with your GFX..

A1. They're not identical, in slot 1 (blue) I have a EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512 mb superclocked edition, in slot 2 (white) I have a EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512mb (not sc edition), I just noticed that the device ID is not hte same. SC edition is 0x0612 and Regular edition is 0x0613

A little heads up, I received some support from aquamac, who assured me that if my string was working in Leo, it had to work in Snow. So I went back to the first string I generated using aquamac's guide: http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?boa...&thread=569

 

Then I randomly tried booting using your last DSDT v3.3, just a feeling... and it booted!!! Yaaaaaaayyyyy

 

Only problem is that I don't have QE and CI enabled (as I do have in Leo using the same string).

 

Another thing I don't understand, when I manually change the com.apple.boot.plist, it automatically enables EFI injection in the Chameleon Pref Pane. But when I boot 10.5.8 using this Chameleon, I guess it uses this EFI injection (wich is supposed to be the same) then I lose QE and CI in 10.5.8. So I boot 10.5.8 with a previous version of Chameleon, and then it's back to normal. I guess it then uses my manually edited string in tha com.apple.boot.plist. So I figured, what if I boot Snow with the previous chameleon version, working with Leo? Scratch, QE and CI not enabled.

Then the best way to isolate this issue, if you have another video card lying around, just try it and see if you still have the same problem.

 

Might be the video card itself.

(My knowledge with GFX card still limited...)

I take a look in the Chameleon 2 RC5 nvidia.c source code and I found this relate with yours card.

so...

Maybe is time to use the new bootloader with GraphicsEnabler... or you can try to use a USBstick with Chameleon2RC5 installed on it for test it w/o "destroy" your old bootloader

I tried Chameleon RC5 with graphics enabler (and removing GFX injection right?), but it didn't work. I had a kernel panic. Right now, the only way to boot is to inject GFX strings using Aquamac's guide for Dual Cards, and using your DSDT V3.3. Anything else results in a kernel panic and/or black screen after login. I can boot, but I don't have QE and CI, and I can't play videos using Quicktime or VLC (just noticed this morning).

 

I'd be happy with my fully working 10.5.8, but it's not rock solid. I get a few random crashes. The only solution left would be to remove one graphic card and go with 10.6.4... but I WON'T ALLOW IT!!

but pls (no like build personal DSDT :()

 

I know you try without succes EFIstrings And onestly... no idea why it not work.

try this DSDT

is the 3.3 for 920 with your two GFX injected delete the EFI strings from the c.a.B.p and GraphicsEnabler=no (or delete this key).

 

-->JSBG.920.2x9800GTX.zip

 

If works ok if not it need to add more data in the injection like reg.data

Now, while you were making me this super awesome DSDT, I tried something, just out of curiosity. I tried booting with my old patched DSDT from 10.5.8... and it worked. I had QE and CI, could play videos in QT... but I also had old problems back, that I had repaired with a few Kext on my 10.5.8 build. Few things like no shutdow and reboot, no wake after sleep, problems reading Data on second hard drive. It's all good with yours, but still, maybe you'll find something interresting in my old DSDT, maybe not:

Hi All,

 

I have some problems with my installation.

 

I put the leopard 10.6.3 DVD after the chameleon bootloader and when I press enter, a reboot occurs...

 

I have tried with -arch=i386, -v, -x, -x32 flags and all possible combinations but it doesn't work...

 

Specs are in my signature.

Sorry your question is not detailed enough to help. Have you researched what you require for your 4870 to work.

 

This problem occurs just after putting my Leopard DVD and pressing enter (I see some kexts loading and black screen - reboot).

 

I will search for my video card support if you think that it's it.(i have also tried with GraphicsEnabler=n)

Your GFx should not be your problem 'yet. Are you following this guide, have you burned iso and installed or

are you using USB method ? Just installing Chameleon wont work if that is what you have done. The more

specific you are & relate to steps in this Guide the more likely one of us from a'far can guess what is not

working for you.

 

That said do be ready with whatever is needed for your card.. :)

Just wondering how you guys connect to blue tooth devices?

An OSX compatible USB blue tooth dongle will do the trick..

The chameleon isn't installed but i launched it from bootCD (available in the first post).

I have burned an iso (no USB method)

I will try with an another iso.

My PC :

P6T Deluxe V1

i7 920

eVGA Geforce 9800GX2

SuperTalent DDR3 2Gb x 6 (Total 12Gb)

 

I have a small problem, my PC just recognised the RAM at DDR2 with 800Mhz. Could anyone tell me what wrong with that and how to solve to recognise DDR3 ?
