qbe
@qbe Thx for this important test... This help me to find some "cover" problerm in the power function of our mobo. Can I ask other two test? Test 1) Use my last 3.1.4 and see how is the consumption in sleep mode Test 2) The same test with 3.1.4 + SATA id inject Fabio im not experienced with dsdt editing, so i will do the test fast (if somebody sends me edited dsdt, somebody have it?) or the hard way - i will learn how to edit it myself. both ways are fine for me, but the second takes more time so please be patient, but i will happily do it what i can tell you right now is all the versions of your dsdt i had, when in sleep mode, consumption was 0 Watts (or not measurable) if the power function of the mobo u mean the automatic overclocking (ai overclock tuner set in auto), where the board actually changes vcore, than im happy i could help you. actually this mode helps to lower the consumption when idle. i was experimenting with overlocking and i had to set vcore manually to stock 1.25, which gave me in idle +10 to +20W (depends if frequency was stock or 3900 MHz). so for this board to actually be economical, its best to stay stock on automatic tuner (sucks). when fully loaded the difference is even more big, exponentially of course (linpack: 261 stock / 350W OCed - gotta plant some trees to help my mother nature advice to derail82 : if you want to stay economical, use stock, this cpu is powerfull enough for everything and you get the benefit of "undervolting" when idle to save more watts. if you want to overclock, use good cooler and oc it to the max on stock vcore. my i7 920 DO can do 3927 with 58-62C on noctua cooler, stock vcore. HT on of course, i work with video and there it makes big difference
ErmaC
... here the 3.1.4 with id for "internal" SATA --> DSDT.3.1.4_internal.SATA.zip Fabio Hi Fabio, and everyone with 2 graphics card. This is your DSDT 3.1.4 with injected part for 2 graphics card. Use EFI string for graphics cards. Everything works perfectly. Kristijan Good work kn6600 I saw that you added back the routing tables well. So logically in my version with the second slot (GFX7) is useless I'll see to delete it to make the speed test on startup. Fabio

qbe
@fabio i confirm both of the specified DSDT (3.1.4 + 3.1.4 internal SATA) go properly into sleep, that is turn everything off, and consume 0 Watts note: sleep invoked manually ps:if you wanted consumption of system awake but disk sleep due to inactivity, let me know
KariNeko
vcore set to auto (so asus bios actually lower vcore to 0.920 when idle, and 1.24 when load, 1.25 being stock for i7 920)148W when idle -23W when only one display conected (dual display disabled) -10W without blackmagic device -10W when all disk sleep (i think system disk not sleeping) qbe when you say the vcore is set to auto and those where the voltages on idle and load, you are using SpeedStep right? I remember when I set the vcore to auto the temperatures where higher than when I set a manual voltage so I think SS wasn't enabled. speedstep has its own enabled/disabled setting. i have it enabled. when vcore on auto and ai overclocker tuner to auto, the board lowers idle vcore. when manualy setting vcore (even to stock voltages) the board leaves vcore at set values at idle or load (if loadline calibration is enabled or auto, otherwise there are very minor differences in idle/load values) not sure why your cpu got cooler after setting manual values (as they are mostly higher when idle than automatic values). my only guess would be your board detected wrong settings and set higher vcore (the board can do that, when you try to overlock and set bclk frequency higher than stock, but leave vcore on auto, it detects your overclock and give you some auto settings. usually they are way off (in my case the board set 1.4V but i only need 1.25 for 3908MHz.) also you could have speedstep enabled, but disabled the actual C-states (which correspond to various speedstep states cpu can go into) or maybe some fan settings? Operating System Install Boot off the boot-132 CD you created, you can hit F8 when the system is POSTing and use the Asus BIOS Boot Selector to choose your DVD drive as the boot drive . You'll end up at a Chameleon boot screen. At this point remove the boot-132 disk and insert the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Installation DVD. Press F5 and after the screen refreshes you'll see the Mac OS X Install DVD as a boot option. Select it using the arrow keys and hit Enter to boot. This starts the retail Snow Leopard installation process. If you boot to a black screen, Start from Step 1 again and after hitting F5, hit Tab. You can try typing in the following kernel flags to get your video working. Try each combination. A visit to netkas.org might help you find information to get your card fully working after installation. -x GraphicsEnabler=n GraphicsEnabler=n arch=i386 [*]Choose your language and proceed to the next screen. [*]From the menu at the top of the screen select Utilities->Disk Utility. Select your hard drive and partition it as a GUID(GPT) disk and leave it at the default file system type. Apply the changes so the partition is laid out and the file systems are formatted. Exit Disk Utility. [*]You can now continue through the retail install process, selecting the Volume you just created as the installation target. When everything is done installing your computer will restart. [*]Hit F8 during the POST so you get the Asus BIOS Boot Selector screen. Remove the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Installation DVD and put the boot-132 disk back in the drive. Select the DVD drive from the boot selector and press Enter. You will arrive at the Chameleon boot screen again, but this time you will have the hard drive volume you just installed to as a boot option. Use the arrow keys to select it and press Enter. [*]Enjoy the video and then continue through the Apple setup process. When you get to the Registration screen you should hit Command-Q or Windows Key-Q(the windows key is between the left Ctrl and Alt keys) and skip the registration. Finish up the rest of the installation screens and you'll be left at the OS X Desktop. [*]In the upper right corner of the screen you will see an icon for the DVD drive. Double-click it and there will be an installer package named P6TDeluxeV2Installer.pkg. Double-click that and go through the installation screens. If you have multiple Volumes select the correct one as the installation target. [*]Click the Applications folder in the Dock on the lower-right, it will pop open and then you will click the Utilities folder, then click Terminal. At the Terminal screen type in: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions Hit Enter and put in your password when prompted. This will rebuild your extensions cache so the network adapters will be recognized. You may also have to go to System Preferences in the Dock and then go to the Network icon for the adapters to be recognized. [*]Click the Apple in the upper left part of the screen and select Restart... Remove all disks from the DVD drive and see if you can boot. If you can then you are done! If not, I've encountered some boot problems in testing and the following solution helped.
