Wow! A lot of threads and information since I did my original 10.5.1 install with many thanks to pcwiz!

My 10.5.1 install has been as solid as a rock since the day I installed it! truly wonderful. Lately, though, I've been needing to use updated applications that won't run on 10.5.1, so, here I am!

I've followed the install video located here:

http://osx86sv.wordpress.com/2009/09/04/ho...asus-p5-series/

And I've made it as far as registering and everything! When my system finally shows the desktop, a dark shade travels top to bottom on my main lcd then I get the message (in many languages) about "You need to restart your computer..."

Does anyone have any idea where I might begin unravelling what is wrong? Seems close, very close. I'm not real keen on changing the bios, because, if I do, then, I cannot go back to my stable 10.5.1.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time, and particularly for those who make this possible!

You can't use that method from 10.5.1.. Why on earth did you stay at such an antiquated version of Leopard? I'd be surprised if you could install even 1/4 of the Leopard software out there.. Anyways, you can't use that method because that OSInstall package won't run on that old of a version of Leopard. I believe you'll need to be at least 10.5.6..

There are other methods to install Snow Leopard that involve making a bootable USB stick with the SL dvd on it and Chameleon. Then you can simply boot up the USB stick like it's the DVD and like your computer is a real mac. I'd install to a new hard drive (your antique install is probably on an antique hard drive by now, might as well upgrade) with the old drive unplugged. Once the install is done and working, Upgrade to 10.6.2!! Then finally boot with both drives plugged in, from inside SL, import your user accounts from the old drive.
