Hmmm I don't know whats happening. Maybe you can try to pm the author and see if he has any ideas on your issue. Its hard to pinpoint the problem because there is no error its just getting stuck at some loop.

All the advice I can give you is google the internet and see if anyone has some more tips for you, I know VMware pretty well because thats how I virtualize.

Have you ever considered VMware to virtualize Snow Leopard?

well, I am not familiar with vmware, so I will try do dig around a bit more, I will try vmware if nothing comes out.

Thanks for your help!

I hadn't heard anyone report success with iDeneb v1.4 yet, but that is what I used for my Leo install.

Can someone explain how to install the mouse integration? It looks like it is just a kext, so where do I put it? Does it go in Extra/Extensions or System/Library/Extensions? I'm assuming once there I need to update permissions and rebuild the cache.

No Logs @ /Library/Logs/

I use Chameleon 2.0 RC4. Anybody some idea's why it doesn't start up?

Status Update:

Networking: (Intel 8254 adapter) without VBoxDD3.dll

1. Looked up the MAC value from "VB NetworkIcon->Network Adapters->Advanced->Mac Address" and wrote it down.

2. On Snow Leopard, I manually updated the device by typing "sudo ifconfig en0 ether MAC_ADDRESS" in terminal where MAC_ADDRESS is the value I got from above. I am sure this can be scripted/automated. Then disconnected cable (from VB Network Icon) and reconnected. This initialized the card and grabbed an IP from DHCP server.

MAC value was initially all zeros. I wonder if there's a fix for this.

I am running an Ubuntu 8.10 x64 host so was unable to use VBoxDD3.dll

To get the network up, i have to disconnect cable, "sudo ifconfig en0 ether MAC_ADDRESS" then reconnect the cable

Then the DNS etc is populated correctly via DHCP

at that moment, simply use the default and continue....

don't expect network will work at that stage.... you need to go on and patch your VM's xml file, which is stated in my tutorial (see "next" page).

Stick with what I state in the tutorial first (this is my recommendation...), changing your network card should not work.... as what I stated is the values/settings that works for many people (and I think if you change something, we need to do 'other' changes.. which non-expert llike us, don't know how to fix it).

Is it true that your mouse / kbd hang?

under ubuntu you cannot VB patch by using Black Trinitron's patch or <ExtraDataItem name="VBoxInternal/PDM/Devices/PcExt/Path" value="VBoxDD3"/>

So everytime i boot, I have to go thru the cable disconnect/sudo ifconfig/connect cycle above. Does anyone have a fix for this?

My guest is Leo iDeneb 1.6 or iATKOS v7

I'm ready to use VMWARE ..you got a vmdk and vmx that you can share?

I've managed to install Leo from iDeneb 1.3, but Snow Leo won't boot.

May be someone can give me some advice (screen attached)

It seems to me, that system can't see HDD, but may be I'm wrong.

I have similiar problems with Leo also, but after some attempts to combinate patches included into the iDeneb I've managed to install it properly. (There I have famous 'Still waiting for root device' message)

Info:

VirtualBox 3.1.6 Patched

CPU: q9550

Here you go man use that for snow leopard machine, set for 2gb ram and 2 cores.

Use this guide first: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=198448

Then: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=189969

for the second guide see last page for vmsl.tar.gz link

enjoy virtualization

Has anyone succeeded if your CPU does not have VT-x? I'm one of those unfortunately ones who have the early batch of Quad Core Q8300 that doesn't have it. Tried patched VB 3.12-3.16 with different settings and different copies iDeneb 10.5.5, iAtkos 10.5.7. No luck.

I have the same configuration Core i7 920 @ 2,67 GHz, my mobo is Asus P6T Deluxe v2, running W7 x64, VBox 3.1.6 x64 with VT activated, Black Trinitron's patches...

I followed the instructions & had the same problem!

for now i'm stuck here :

- replaced the Vanilla x64 kernel supplied with 10.6.2 User DVD by the one that came in the VMSL package

- rebuilt kextcache and fixed permissions

- I get KP when loading Disabler.kext, deleted it & rebuilt cache => ok (doesn't like the i7-9xx cpu?)

- I get KP when loading IOPCI / IOATA system kexts, need some more patches...

Booting with -v, I can see my computer's recognized as a MacPro 3,1, Nehalem ;)

At least I've got a (quite-)working Leo install (used iDeneb 10.5.8), no sound, & need to manually configure the MAC address of network interface, but I'd really love going to Snow, so let me know if someone succeeded with the same configuration!

Ahhh I miss understood you, so you are stuck on the snow leopard setup. You say you have installed snow leopard after having iDeneb 1.6 running under virtualbox right?

Try using kernel 10.0.0

Boot into iDeneb with the snow volume attached as a secondary hard drive.

Download this file from

http://rapidshare.com/files/359804579/vmsl.tar.gz

open terminal

sudo -s

password

cd /Users/"User Name"/Downloads

root -R 0:0 vmsl

cd vmsl

cp -r mach_kernel /Volumes/"Your Snow Volume Name"/mach_kernel

Try that and see if that kernel is able to recognize your cpu. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your help, and sorry for the delayed reply...

I've replaced the kernel, but doesn't solved, this is the new screen:

When I tried Chameleon RC4 I wasn't able to get it to work. I then went back to RC2 packaged on the Utils disk and everything worked fine. I think the RC2 installer delivers some extra kexts that may be necessary?

Whenever I add

<ExtraDataItem name="VBoxInternal/Devices/e1000f/0/Trusted" value="integer:1"/>

<ExtraDataItem name="VBoxInternal/PDM/Devices/PcExt/Path" value="VBoxDD3"/>

VBoxGUI crashes when started. If it's set to bridged I get

VERR_INTNET_INCOMPATIBLE_FLAGS

I've been searching but I can't find solutions. Anyone know what's going on?

Hi everybody I'm new to this forum and I have i simple (I think) question: VirtualBox doesn't recognise my f8 key so I'm not able to start with verbose mode. So when I hit f8 it boots as I hit any other key and the spinning wheel screen continues for hours and I'm not able to see what is the error. I've tried with many distros: iPC, Kalyway, iAtkos, iDeneb both 1.3 and 1.6 with the same results. I'm running Windows 7 32 bit, VirtualBox 3.1.2 and I have Italian keyboard on my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

I followed the exact steps in the well-written tutorial by Wing and it's working quite well. Windows 7 x64 host with VirtualBox 3.1.6 to which I added/replaced the DLLs from the version specific links in post 1.

I too encountered the zero MAC address problem in Leopard. Each time I boot the VM, I have to fix it. The ifconfig command to fix it has been addressed (no pun intended) in this thread. I used these steps:

1) When starting the Leopard VM, immediately go to the VM's Devices / Network Adapters and "disconnect the cable". While you're there, make a note of the MAC address the VM has configured for it.

2) Once Leopard is booted, open Terminal and use ifconfig to set the MAC address to the same as what's configured in the VM. Note that ifconfig expects you to specify the MAC address using xx:xx:xx:xx:xx syntax.

3) Go back to Devices / Network Adapters and reconnect the cable.

However, I had no problem with Snow Leopard's networking.

Another problem I found was the VM's clock is set to the host's local time, but apparently OS X assumes the clock is set to UTC, which it then adjusts to what it mistakenly thinks is the correct local time based on the time zone you choose during setup. VirtualBox can be configured to use UTC, just add this to your VM's XML file:

<ExtraDataItem name="VBoxInternal/Devices/mc146818/0/Config/UseUTC" value="1"/>

Supposedly this option will be in the GUI in the next major release of VirtualBox.

What OS host are you using and what VB version?

You have all the necessary files to patch VB in the first post by Black Trinitron

Alright, so here's my situation:

Win7x64 with VB 3.1.6x64 (Patched per OP)

Leo installed successfully from iAtkosv7 (with voodoo 9.7.0, intel sata/ide, voodoo PS2)

I'm stuck at step 10. in the OP. I successfully UnHideIT'd the OSInstall.mpkg but when I run it and hit "Continue" at the first screen I get an alert that simply says Alert and it closes out. post-605827-1271947407_thumb.jpg

Do I need a different version of the SL disk (I'm trying 10.6.2)? Or is there something wrong with my install?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

***EDIT: Got 10.6 and the problem is gone.

***EDIT 2: This edit written from Snow Leopard. Thanks OP.

***EDIT 3: Tried software update to 10.6.3. Now getting a panic on boot.

I'm pretty super-n00b can anyone help me with this?

Hi guys,

I got the Leo4Allv3 10.5.2 running in VBox 3.1.6 x64 in Windows 7 x64. The Leopard seems like a bit slow but acceptable speed, is there any tweak for the speed and sound? It works pretty well in native install.

System: P5Q Deluxe, Intel Q9400.

Thanks :)
