Aska
Just a little technical explanation: why does Leo work mostly with a simple line added to the *.xml, BUT Snow does need a deeper hacking way? Are Leo and Snow so different? My experience: Dowloaded iDeneb_v1.6_1058_Lite_Edition, VM created as per post 1, *.xml modified. Works greatly. I had to change the kernel and some other kext (like the one for the mouse/keyboard) but it wasn't so hard. I'm stun by the simplicity of the whole of the process. Installing Snow was a little bit harder, but just cuz of the right folders to modify. I'm stuck to the terminal step, when i type "su" and enter the password, it says "sorry" :censored2: Ok its not a problem, i won't Snow atm, i just play with Leo untill Vbox could fully support OSX server. mrbox
I also used the guide www.takwing.idv.hk/tech/virtual_snowl and did all the steps. but I can't patch the dll as my host is not windows. but that seemed to be a network thing to pass the MAC address to OSX so DHCP could work. same with leo. ArgVega
Try customizing your installation by adding: -x86patches -> kernel, add voodoo 9.7.0 -drivers->system-> ps/2 mouse/keyboard-> add voodoo ps2 driver Try to install using those and let me know the results. Try this, thats how I helped him fix it.

ArgVega
yes iDeneb should also have those cutomizations, they might be called a little different. Select these under customize: Kernel 9.7.0 Old PS/2 drivers Then install and it should boot just fine, thats how I was able to help lfse, but it might be a different issue for you. If it doesn't work post a picture of where it gets stuck using the -v boot flag. Also post your system specs and verify if you have vt=x or not. I've selected 9.7.0 Kernel AnV and ApplePS2 Old but I got a kernel panic. System Specs: Asus P6T6 WS Revolution Intel i7 920 DDR3 3x2gb where I could check the vt=x? ArgVega
Go into your bios and see if you have an option that says "hardware virtualization" make sure its enabled. Also what boot options do you use?

ArgVega
I might be wrong but it seems that your cpu is not being recognized correctly. Try reinstalling with a different kernel option and no ps2 drivers. If you can post aa picture of the cuztomize screen from within iDeneb so I can see if some cause your problems. Also check what bootloader iDeneb installs. Also try booting with: -v -f busratio=4 cpus=

mrbox
After reading some more I think snow on 3.1.6 might be hard on non-windows. it looks like one of the binary patches is for a 1. APIC to version 14 2. Tell to guest that we support SSSE3 I thought that was fixed in the new vbox Leo runs fine. but snow just hangs. I was thinking the patches was only for the network DHCP bug where the MAC address does not get assigned to osx

You say you have installed snow leopard after having iDeneb 1.6 running under virtualbox right? Try using kernel 10.0.0 Boot into iDeneb with the snow volume attached as a secondary hard drive. Download this file from http://rapidshare.com/files/359804579/vmsl.tar.gz open terminal sudo -s password cd /Users/"User Name"/Downloads root -R 0:0 vmsl cd vmsl cp -r mach_kernel /Volumes/"Your Snow Volume Name"/mach_kernel Try that and see if that kernel is able to recognize your cpu. Let me know if you have any questions.
Mishman
Do you have to anything with Kext's etc in addition to this? Ahhh I miss understood you, so you are stuck on the snow leopard setup. ArgVega
I use vmware for my virtualization, so I have a few kexts deleted as well as the sound/display/vmware tools drivers instlled. But I don't think these apply here because these are for the hardware virtualized by vmware, but the kernel can apply to you guys because it might be your processors that are the problem. I for example have to use the 10.0.0 kernel to run snow leopard 10.6.3 on my vmware machine because I do not have vt-x on my processor, this could also help solve your kps when the kernel tries to determine your processor. far.runner
I downloaded and install the kernel, but still the same error... well, I did follow every steps of the guide, with no errors. and the vmsl.tar.gz link on that post isn't working, I can not download that file, is there any other place to download it? QPolarBear
The max I got working was 1600x1200. My monitor is 1920x1200, so unfortunately can't make use of thefull screen. Also, "About This Mac" gives me blue screen, but after a few seconds it comes back. Looks like it crashed the UI system, which then recovered. [VirtualBox 3.1.4 + Patches + iDeneb 1.6 1.5.8 light edition on Vista x32] 1920x1080 worked for me.

ArgVega
I downloaded and install the kernel, but still the same error... Hmmm I don't know whats happening. Maybe you can try to pm the author and see if he has any ideas on your issue. Its hard to pinpoint the problem because there is no error its just getting stuck at some loop. All the advice I can give you is google the internet and see if anyone has some more tips for you, I know VMware pretty well because thats how I virtualize. Have you ever considered VMware to virtualize Snow Leopard?
displayName79
Is it possible to update my Virtualbox Snow Leopard to 10.6.3 using the Software Update function? Last time I tried an update it wouldn't boot afterwards. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
jwtd
Thanks for the Guide, I also found http://www.takwing.idv.hk/tech/virutal_leopard/ very helpful. But I'm having some problems. I'm using iATKOS_v7, on VirtualBox 3.1.4 on Windows 7 x64 Core 2 CPU (qx9300), 1536MB virtual ram, 2 virtual cores I have successfully installed OS X 10.5.7 but I'm getting performance issues My problem is that even though I can display OS X in my monitor's resolution: 1920x1200x32 (using the method in the guide linked above), moving windows, the dock, and scrolling are terrible slow. Booting and opening applications are really fast, its just anything graphics wise is very slow. I think this is due to no graphics driver installed to make use of 2D/3D acceleration provided by virtual box. Has anyone found a driver, or another method, of fixing this issue? Or at least making it somewhat smooth, I plan to use XCode.
