gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4 +i5 750 + GB HD5770

booted using tony's ATI-5xxx-2, installed with original SL, updated to 10.6.4, then, in [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] 2.0.5 i've enabled these options:

UserDSDT (DSDT.aml on the "desktop")

ALC889

jmicron36xsata

realtekr1000sl

fakesmc

chameleon 2.0 rc4

10.3.1 supported kernel

32 bit apple boot screen

smbios.plist: imac 11.1 core i5 & all osx86 software

then i rebooted, and the system won't boot due to vga

then, with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], i've booted up and installed (with kext helper b7) the ATY_Init (vervet) with the 7 drivers (supplied by kill_mark)

prior to reboot, i've been trying to change the /extra/com.apple.boot.plist to disable the graphicsenabler, but the system freezed.

now i can't boot it (even with the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]); i've tried feeding graphicsenabler=no to chameleon at boot time, but it didn't work..

i've tried booting in safe mode, but the system hangs in the same manner

there's something I didn't take care off?

i'm waiting for the new [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] for trying again the whole procedure..

dunno if would be better with the asere's bootloader instead of aty_init..that would go for 64 bit

I looked at your sig that you have an nVidia graphic card.

Please read this post what I did on my EP35-DS3P & 8800GT. I hope this will give you some idea.

Yeah, I had a 9800GT. But this I got today is a Sapphire 5770 1GB... However, I am starting to think the Mobo got fried today somehow during the install as everything is starting to corrupt and having weird issues.. Going to buy a new one tomorrow and report back

So is it safe to assume that all of these kext for the 5xxx will only work for SL? I'm curently running ideneb v1.6 lite (Leopard 10.5.8) and every single one i've tried has not worked.

My specs

AMD PII 945 3.2

8gigs ram

XFX 5770 1gig

GB ga-ma790XT-ud4p

OSX86 iDeneb v1.6 lite (OS X 10.5.8)

pfff very simple bro

Download Hazard's 10.6.2 distro (the one with the name server intel/amd)

Very simple what you need to choose to install it...

boot the DVD with: maxmem=4098 busratio=20 -v -x

Format your hard drive to GUID - journalized

PM me to help you out on the customization selections I have another build with your very same motherboard & AMD PII X4 965BE C3, 8gb DDR3-1600 Ram, XFX 5770

Every time i let my system boot by itself i am getting the default Hold the button to restart screen, but when i press F8 and then type :

arch=i386 "Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32" it starts normally :(

How can i make it do that by default ?

This is my com.apple.Boot.plist in Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Edit: i managed to get it working once by setting GraphicsEnabler to No in the plist file but since then it wont even start with -v anymore.

I an writing from my ipod touch now :(

Add the string you type into chameleon at boot, into your boo.plist file and change graphicsenabler to NO.

For those having trouble doing fresh install of SL with an HD5770. After you get into SL and update, you HAVE TO delete all NVIDIA kext files. Or you'll be KP on reboot. Just make sure that your GraphicsEnabler is set to NO and your drivers are installed after your 10.6.4 update. It's hard but you can't waste time or else you'll KP. Reboot with -x32-v so you can repair permissions in SL. Use Kill_marks' ATI.zip package found on page 10 I think. It already has all the fixes needed in the kext files. Just install them to your /s/l/e folder.

I recommend just updating to 10.6.4 and remove the NVIDIA kext and reboot BEFORE installing the kexts for the ATI card. If you can't reboot after 10.6.4, then try using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]-ati5xxx from Tonymac.

Edit: Here is a better explanation taken directly from Tonymac's blog. I take no credit for this, just sharing information to help!!!

TonyMacx86 Post begin....

I got that same Kernal Panic whenever I would try to install all of the ATI kexts for 5xxx series (by Netkas) using Kext Helper.

It took me serveral hours of trial and error, but I was able to get the correct resolution on my XFX Radeon HD 5770 XXX Edition 1GB by installing just these three kext using Kext Helper b7:

ATI5000Controller.kext

ATIFramebuffer.kext

ATISupport.kext

ATIRadeonX3000.kext Caused Kernal Panic

ATIRadeonX3000GA.plugin Caused Kernal Panic

ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle Caused Kernal Panic

ATIRadeonX3000VADriver.bundle Caused Kernal Panic

Copy ATY_Init.kext (Can be found here) to /Extra/Extensions

Navigate to /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist and copy "com.apple.Boot.plist" to desktop.

Edit com.apple.Boot.plist that's on the the desktop.

Change GraphicsEnabler to No

It should look like this:

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>arch=i386</string>

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>No</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>1</string>

<key>Legacy Logo</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>

<string>Yes</string>

</dict>

</plist>

Save "com.apple.Boot.plist"

Then replace /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist with the one you just edited on the desktop.

Then navigate to /System/Library/Extensions/ and remove the 4 files that begin with NV*

Finally run Kext Utility to repair kexts permissions.

Reboot and Pray...

Issues: I had to manually install a kext for my Realtek 8168 onboard ethernet.

I can't get Dual DVI working so I just have One Monitor (1280x1024) active in OSX.

OSX is unable to wake from Sleep probably because I don't have a DSDT for my motherboard.

Sound worked out of the box.

Its probably best that you completely reinstall OSX if you intend to follow these directions.

Goodluck

TonyMacx86 Post End...

Good luck.

Jay

For me the process was simple, grab the kexts from netkas. Change The Framebuffer to Vervet (This allows you to not need a dongle, also allows HDMI out) in the info.plist of ATY_Init, drop all the kexts into /s/l/e/ and run pfix on the OS X partition. set "arch"="i386" as a kernel flag and set "Graphics Enabler"="no".

Taitac try this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1680x1050x32@60</string>
	<key>Timeout</key>
	<string>0</string>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>"arch"="i386"</string>
<key>GUI</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
	<key>Graphics Enabler</key>
	<string>No</string>
</dict>
</plist>

I cant seem to install ATI5000controller.kext.

I'm running 10.6.2 do I have to update to 10.6.4 ?

Also I cant get my device ID from OSX86 tools, is there another way to find that? ( also running win7 )

Thanks

On page 10 of this thread you will see a file uploaded by Kill_mark...called ATI.zip. Download that and unzip. Install the kexts inside with kextutilty or equivalent installer.

I am not sure if it will work for 10.6.2 but it defnitely works on 10.6.4.

In windows, open Control Panel, then open up the Device Manager. Find your Graphics card, open up the properties on it. Click on the Details tab. You should have “Device Instance Path” selected in the drop down. What you will see is something like PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68B8&SUBSYS… Now what you need is the numbers/letters following VEN and DEV. These are your vender and device ID numbers. My Vendor ID is 1002 and my Device ID is 68B8.

I finally managed to get it working on MSI R5770 HAWK (which is a great card because it is extremely quiet)

Due to a typing mistake in boot.plist I encountered lots of Kernel Panics before i found i typed architure=i368 instead of i386 ;)

Also keep in mind that for 32Bit mode some Mainboards have to be configured in Bios as HPET 32 Bit (i.e. Gigabyte EP45-UD3)

I uploaded the Files I used here: http://najekdub.macbay.de/downloads/ATI5770HAWK32BIT.zip

This is what my boot.plist looks like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
