@makkernel2:

I've just seen this : http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/issues/31/#ic139

Please do not hassle Chameleon people with such things! You have no idea how ugly are the change i've did to ati.c !!!

That was just a very quick mod, in ordrer to test ONLY on HD5000 if it was possible to get GE to work or not. I've only shared the code here for people to look at... and for the second time that was a really bad done job.

I'm now working on it to make acceptable, be sure the right persons will have the RIGHT code in the RIGHT time.

I noticed this morning that I've actually lost audio out (back pannel stereo out and front pnl' headphones.) since I flashed back to standard BIOS. As reported HDMI audio is working fine.

Odd as in Audio options all outputs are still listed, dectection of headphones is still working and the volume icon isn't grayed out.

Will have to double check I've not done anything silly but looking at my DSDT this morning (from standard ami BIOS.) everything is as it should be.

D

couldn't find anything wrong. re-flashed back to UEFI BIOS and it's working again.

the BIOS clearly giving me the advantage.

EDIT - when analogue audio not working there where no sound assertion errors and applehda had appeared to load ok.

When you were back to standard BIOS, were you still using UEFI DSDT? Is standard DSDT similar to UEFI DSDT? Do you have TPM device?

I think AppleHDA can handle many audio device as much as it supports audio devices; however, AppleHDA may handle with limited ports of each audio device. If you disabled sound on board, you still can get HDMI audio working, using HDAU in DSDT.

I've read discussions at Apple, there were many people (iMacs) complained about HDMI audio issues after updating 10.6.4. I will wait what will be changed in 10.6.5 that was seed to developers.

I'm not using a TPM, it's optional on the MB and any TPM option is disabled in BIOS.

When I flashed back to standard BIOS i went back to DSDT taken from that BIOS ROM.

There are several differances.

I can try with standard BIOS and EFI DSDT later this evening.

Please note these are not my current DSDT files, the only differances to my current will be edits to the usual parts like GFX Scope (_SB etc ... but will post anyway so you can diff them.

You'll notice part of the SSDT table appears at the bottom of the EFI DSDT - this is how it was when extracted.

Hope this helps.

Snow Leopard Graphics Update build 10F2084 works fine.

10.6.5 Beta causes the screen to get messed up, you cannot use older 10.6.4 GFX drivers either, will not work, old drivers with new framebuffers still dont work, maybe the framebuffer is changing or will be changed, couldnt be bothered messing around again as i was offline from my work for little while, got too much to finish ;)

I bought a Sapphire Radeon 5770 1 GB in a locale store in Hong Kong, The box says 1 GB and the sticker on the card also says 1 GB but the opencl info program found on this site says its 512 MB. Have I got ripped off or is it detecting wrong? Also it detects the clock frequency as 725 Mhz instead of 850 Mhz.

What do you think, have they ripped me off? Any advice would be appriciated.

EDIT: To make my card work in OS X i copied the DSDT with the bin image from FormerlyKnownAs, everything seems to be working great except that I can only see 512 mb.

Thanks for checking.

So it seems OpenCL framework might have some problems? Also the OpenCL performance is really bad for me.

Audio is not working for me either, only shows up in System profiler but not in sound preferences.

And then there is the underclocking to 725 mhz.

Still a little work but hopefully it will work soon :)

Hi, can you up your bin image from macpro for hd5770? And your dsdt with all code also for 3 screen in mirror and hdmi sound? Thanks so much :(

OpenCL performance poor ?

post-253749-1282154790_thumb.png

I take it back, It seems fine, I get 50 seconds which is just 1 second more then the 4870 OC. Generally 5770 is around same speed as 4870.

But I cannot get the results you get, maybe version 1.71 is much more optimized then 1.70? :)

I really cannot understand why your results are so much better.

Already in the thread mate. using bin image you can find in tmongkols' DSDT for 3 screens which works just fine with audio.

and ive also already posted the DSDT code you need to use to get audio with Trauma's mod'd boot file.

yes you may try v.1.7.1 its optimized

(but as I remember the difference is not so high..)

To check , if your HD 5770 is working correctly with Open CL:

dl:

http://rapidshare.com/files/410151278/smallluxGPU171_V3.zip

you may post the midrange -ultra -and sponza benches here

(the last bench "instances" does not work on ati gpus and reverts to cpu mode.)

To check if your HD 5770 is working correctly with Open GL :

you may try as well cinebench 11.5 to check if you have updated frameworks

if you have a pretty fast cpu (I am still on a slow Q9550 downclocked to 2,6 )

you may have much better results in cinebech (>40 fr.) than me (I got 28 fr.)

(The underclock (725 MHz for HD 5770) is a bug in the opencl driver )

These are standard results of a stock ATI 5770 Sapphire (higher clocked Vapor X version is slightly faster) :

*As this OpenCL bench is not CPU-dependent , if your results differ more than a few second from the

results above something is wrong with your config.

Hmmm!

first one is a little bit on the weak side, but nothing to worry about it

did you optimize your bios ?

the results of this open cl bench are rather cpu independent

but it likes fast - highclocked RAM with tough timings and high FSB.

Hi sch8mid

No my RAM is far from tuned at the moment.

current 6, 7, 7, 24 @500MHz native i think is 7, 7, 7,24 @533 @1.8v

I know i can get those timings down @500MHz

fsb is @ 400MHz x8 multi at max Fid Vid

This is still on my todo list!

Cheers

hi FKAs

I use

5-5-5-15 @1066

subs: 52-3-6-4-3 @ 2,15 V :-)

and Performance level 8 ..this gave me one additional frame in cinebench and half a second in CL

over SPD : 6-6-6-18

I am on 6x 450 FSB a.t.m , but the EP-45 has no problems with > 500

___-

Tmongkols' DSDT for 3 monitors ? where ? in this thread ? EDIT : found it

he is a genius

I use cartris mac bios , so I have not to deal with DSDT ...

which is i confess frankly way over my head

yay! all well, glitch gone. Sapphire HD5770 working smooth.

down to one minor annoyance! (thanks FormerlyKnownAs)

I've two displays via DVI-I connected.

Once the OSX Desktop appears, i have to pull & replug (same port) the Cinema Display HDMI for the CD Display to work. Samsung as secondary works instantly.

Any hints?

I'm using Trauma! 5x boot for 3 Displays.

GraphicsEnabler=no. "Yes" results in blowing GPU fan & black screen.

cheers!

What thanks for the minor annoyance? :P

Seriously - I've just been a tester here, trauma and tmongkol have done the hard work :D

Re your problem - if you are using GraphicsEnabler=No and this is working then even on one screen then you have one of 2 things.

- either you still have ATY_init installed or you havent cleared caches since removing ..

- or you have the DSDT GFX with bin image still in your DSDT .

you don't want either of these things if you wish to use traumas' mod'd boot file and GraphicsEnabler=Yes

Cheers

I think I had the same problem with my 30" Cinema Display, though I was using the DVI port. It booted up, then the screen went black and the power light would start blinking 3 times (which means it had an incompatible screen resolution). I got it to work by adding

	<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>2560x1600x32</string>

to the com.apple.Boot.plist file. I no longer had to unplug and replug the video cord after that.
