I'm thinking these guys using voodooHDA that have HDMI audio working haven't told us which port is carrying the audio :(

 

I guess they have it on the HDMI and the mini display port?! as the Macpro 5770 only has 2 DP and 2 dvi

 

My 5770 card didn't arrive today. will be tomorrow night before I can start messing around with it!

if this is true then Apple just might support multichannel then we can work on AppleHDA with more ports, I don't have a DP cable so cannot test it, also my led monitor only supports dvi, even if i get a dp 2 dvi connector it wouldn't bring audio so no point.

it speeds up a little in tests, nothing huge, but anyway everything works fine.

Wonder,

any caveats - how did you install ? whole package with the new frameworks (Opengl-OpenCL-Quartz) , or just the new driver kexts ?

EDIT : First installed only drivers and got a garb. screen... then

 

pulled the pl. and installed the whole bunch and ...BINGO

 

 

Benchmarks seem only marginal better : went from 24.0 fr + 25.1 fr. in Cinebench OpenGL 11.5

depend not only from your 5770 , but from your cpu as well

 

I use a 1,8 - 2,49 GHz (downclocked ) Q9550

 

scaling very well .-)

 

19 fr. @ 1,8 Ghz

22 fr. @ 2,2 GHz

25 fr. @ 2,4 Ghz

 

 

and b.tw. do you use 10.5 or 10.6.0

 

Your benches may be higher......

EDIT - just installed my 5770.

 

Works perfectly - using tmongkol's latest DSDT code for 3 monitors (many thanks.) and the latest Graphicsupdate package that atlee (many thanks too.) posted a few days ago.

 

I have my LCD monitor to one DVI (nearest GPU MB) and LCD TV to the HDMI port.

Both DVI ports work with HDMI but havent tried with all 3 monitors/eyefinity.

Sleep is broken and I get a horizontal split in video when played, in mirror mode on my HDMI connected LCD TV. I had this problem with the gtx260 only the split was on my LCD monitor and I'm generally watching films on my TV!

 

Video plays fine on both in split desktop.

 

Need to try other framebuffers.

 

HDMI audio works ! ;) (I have onboard alc888T and am using tmongkol' AppleHDA 1.8.7f1 ALC888 LayoutID 888.)

yeah xD hey whats the difference between your 5770 bios mod and the normal one ?

 

I use the 5770 in my HTPC (OsX 10.6.4 / Win 7)

 

to get almost silence the bios is flashed :

 

a. 200/300 desktop - 2D .... Fan@ 20 % ..0,9 V GPU

b. 300/800 UVD / HDTV card/1080p ...... Fan@ 20%...0,9 V GPU

c. 600/1000 3D/ Games........Fan@ 30-50% ...1,0 V GPU

 

Temps :

 

a.< 45 degr. C

b.< 50 degr. C

c. 60-85 degr.C

Just use the graphics update i posted few posts back that contains new ati kexts and frameworks and it's installer package from Apple. I originally did it the long way, installed new kexts 7 of them, then copy and pasted .frameworks inside framework folder then repaired permissions, worked straight away, but pkg is so much faster.

I currently use the 9800GT 512MB edition, but I am very interested in the 5770 after following your posts. With the new snow_leopard_graphics_update_10f2074.dmg now available, what would be the best steps to take to get the 5770 up and running?

Read about Nvidia/ATI dual setup, not sure if you can run one as main monitor and one as extended, You might be able to. You probably will need a special efi string. I used to have efi for 9800gt.

I had to resort to this last night when I made a mistake on my main install.

It worked perfectly with GraphicsEnabler=Yes (no DSDT.aml loading.)

HDMI does work ;) already tested i dont need any adapters, but with eyefinity not sure :D

 

 

 

Trust me VoodooHDA is the worst kext's you could use for your HD soundcards, You just cannot compare the quality between AppleHDA and VoodooHDA, AppleHDA {censored}es all over everything, I could work on a AppleHDA that picks both ALC888 and ATI HDMI R600 Audio or ALC889a and ATI HDMI but i'm just busy at the moment and hands full but i will work on it when have few weeks gap :)

 

 

I just tried using the audio kexts you provided and I lost my audio. Not sure why but weird that only VoodooHDA works for me. Any comment?

No I don't, thought he had already patched the files for the 888 which is what I actually have, unless Gigabyte lied to me and so is System Profiler. :);)

Odd, i just looked your MB up on the Gigabyte site and it says alc892 in the manual?

 

EDIT - rev1.0 of your board has alc888 but your sig' says you have rev2.0 which has alc892 !

Then something is extremely mixed up because on the site itself for the rev. 2.0 it says ALC888 but in the manual it says ALC892. My hardware on both mac and windows(astra32) says ALC888. On my motherboard the print says rev. 2.0

Could someone post his ioregistry explorer save, while running ATY_Init.kext please?

 

And a last question, does the 57x0 card works fine while using only one monitor ? (with Vervet at last)

Hi!

 

Have tried to get my XFX HD 5750 512 mb work on my Hackintosh for a month now.

 

now ive decided to reward the person who help me to get it fully working.

 

The reward is a Steam Account with the following games:

 

Counter Strike Source

Half life 2

Half life 2 Deathmatch

Halflife Source

Halflife detahmatch Source

Halflife 2 Lost Coast

 

The reward is only for the one tht really get it to work. First come, first served
