Hi. is there a step by step guide for a complete mac newbie to do this? i just installed iatkos 10.6.3 version and would like to make my hd5770 fast and support higher res but all these instructions are very confusing. please help.

Hi

 

I'll use Kabyl's bootloader and it works with a Powercolor 5770 card.

But it works only one monitor.

I use Vervet. I'll try others frame buffers but the resolution is not the correct.

My question is with another frame buffers it Could work with dual monitor (dvi and vga).

Or I have to change something to enable the other port.

Any body else having problems with wake from sleep?

I'm getting no video posted on wake, have tried usual sleep scripts/ kexts with no joy.

 

Any suggestions?

b.t.w. God ... Right now I should stop tuning my gpu and old english bsa goldstar moto and learn how to edit a and patch a dsdt and install a bootloader manually ..my new rig though in 64 bit is really flakey compared to EP-45 :-)

Hi people, I am wondering if anyone that has a working 5770 card could help me get mine going, preferrably in 64bit.

It is an Asus EAH5770 Cucore 1GB GDDR5.

I currently have Snow Leopard 10.6 installed, updated to 10.6.4, and run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] with the DSDT from TonyMac's forum for my Gigabyte P55-USB3 rev 2.0 motherboard.

Using Kabyl's boot file, and can increase the resolution of my screen to 1400*1050 or something like that, with the boot file:

But I still am not using the card properly. My Vram is 256mb and using the ATY_Init methods, I get a full blackscreen and 100% fans. I want to continue using it on my hdtv, using the hdmi cable as I do with Windows7. If I need to get a DVI adapter to make this setup work, I can get one, but am fed up or having to restore from Time Machine and try again! Please is anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be very greatful, as I am so close to having my computer running! I have tried Tmongkol's method, and tried to follow what Mohamed Khairy has been saying with no luck. Thanks

I can only speak of my method in the beginning of this thread , though

I didn`t try Mohammeds version , because I sold my old rig.

 

I used tmongkuls modified Aseres bootloader 1.1.9 (vervet) (here in this thread)

bootet with GraphicsEnabler= yes

and PCIRootUID = 1

and it worked

Thanks for your fast response. I have read pretty much the entire thread, and have seen that you have some pretty impressive results so kudos! It just seems that everytime I use GraphicsEnabler=Yes, I get a black screen.

Is using the Asere bootloader as simple as installing it on SL? Because I've done that, edited the boot as you said and still black screen unless GraphicsEnabler=No

If you are using the ATY_int still you need to be using GraphicsEnabler=No. I'm not sure how Kabyls boot file is going to effect anything if you are still booting in 32-bit mode. For 32-bit only you can use ATY_int, GraphicsEnabler=No and the ATI kexts. Do you know what the vendor ID of your card is? Most of the 5770s I've seen working are either XFX, Sapphire or Powercolor, not the Asus version. That could be different. Also, the 5770 should use Vervet as the frame buffer, which is default for the modified ATY-int in [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] and in Kaybls boot. Thanks Flipflp, have been getting myself in a mess with methods for a few days, which is probably the culprit for my terrible 1024*768 on full hd tv :D

Those are indeed the same Device IDs as mine.

 

Are you trying to get full 64-bit boot or no? If you do want 64-bit boot, you should be able to follow these steps:

 

Remove ATY_int

Install latest Chameleon Bootloader from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...l=chameleon+RC5

Replace the bootfile in your main volume with Kaybls bootfile

Change your boot.plist to a 64-bit GraphicsEnabler=Yes with [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url].

 

If you are fine with 32-bit:

Leave ATY_int installed

Use [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] to setup a 32-bit, graphicsenabler=no boot.plist

 

If you have installed the correct ATI kexts, graphics update and otherwise you should be working at that point, either 32 or 64-bit.

 

Note: None of what I said is really relevant if you don't have a properly setup computer e.g. a good dsdt.aml file for your board, all other kexts to make your system fully functional except for video under Snow Leopard 10.6.4 with graphics update 1.0. If you are still having problems with the ATI kexts, download them from this thread separate from [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] and install them with Kexthelper. [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] did not correctly install these kexts for me.

yepp , thats the way I would try it

 

right -the asus Hd 5770 is slightly special , as the bios of the card is widely used in the OC scene for flashing

other cards . You can manipulate cpucore V and shaderspeed and overclock your card very easy

if you have the proper RAms on your card (i.e. Samsung)

tried the bios as well , but saw no approvement with my sapphire

but the card worked as well . So if 32 bit is o.k.for him the AtY -init method should work , and yes multibeastst is nice but there are rare reports of black screen and 100 % spinning fans if you dont use it very carefully.

 

concerning your nice geekbench score ( as I am a damned benchmarkfreak) : if you have a proper dsdt look at your RAM speed in geekbench and your bios timings. @ 4 GHz you can easily see scores in the 7500- 7800 range (RAM)

and break the 14000 barrier.

Hey thanks, My dsdt is someone elses, can't remember who's but it's the best I've found so far. My RAM is at the tightest timing it can go but only at 15xxmhz because of 21x191bclk. If there's more there to be found, that would be great but I am more than happy with how fast it is right now.

HD 5770 performance with i7 CPU @ stock (and overclocked )

 

 

As I just finished a new , fresh install of 10.6.4 I want to give HD 5770 users

an orientation , what they can expect from this card with i7 CPUs in OpenGL and OpenCL.

You will find my similar database for QuadCore 9550 CPUs here in this thread.

 

OpenGl performance is very important for games and pro apps (Motion,Photoshop, Aperture,Premiere etc.)

OpenCl performance will be very important in near future , right now only a few apps (i.e. Starfire) use it.

Test : i7 CPU @ stock 3.06 GHz , HT on , all Powersaving states enabled, fresh 10.6.4.

 

 

 

Sapphire HD 5770 (ATI reference design) , stock bios:

Dont worry if your results differ one or 2 frames , these results are based on a very lean installation.

If your results differ more than 3 frames at the same CPU speed you should have a look at your configuration.

 

I couldn´t resist to add the results of the brandnew 2010 MacPro 6 core Westmere ,

equipped with the Apple HD 5770 @ 3,33 GHz CPU.

 

So you see we are happy campers in the OSX 86 scene.. :)

If you have overclocked your CPU I attached my results , trying to squeeze the most out of my

rig , though this is not meant for 24/7 use .

 

HD 5770 @stock -i7 950 CPU @ 4,2 (on air) *this CPU boots in Windows @4,52 GHz on air :-)

Win7 : HD 5770 OC @930/1380 : 88,16 fr.

 

 

Currently my HD 5770 scores Nr. 1 in Cinebench OpenGl on Win 7 and MacOS 10.6.4
