notshy
How do you use ATI.c.text ? I'm currently loading my ROM (extracted via ATI Flash in Windows) and GFX enabler = Yes and Boot 9. I've still got the issue that I cannot connect the DVI out of my card into the DVI in on my screen - I have to use a DVI>VGA converter. I've got the Gigabyte 5770 UD - Batmobile card. Edit: So I've found this : http://netkas.org/?p=104 I was using ATY_Init kext before but I don't know how to use the ATI.c.txt injector - sorry for the N00b question. FortKnUX
Hi - I had this problem which was due to first boot device being CD rather than HardDisk in BIOS - check that for starters as the delay is likely due to BIOS looking for CD to boot from... Thanks Tony, that did the trick!

notshy
no ati.c not to be used as ituse anther file boot file OK - so just replace my Boot 9 with the Boot file in your ZIP? I will try this and hope that it fixes my DVI/VGA issue - having a super fast GFX card and running it through VGA back to a 1080p monitor seems a bit of a waste of technology. scotthooker
I've read through all 30 odd pages of this thread and I'm not sure if i'm more confused or not!! But I am sure the right information is somewhere in there! I have a 5770 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=222761 - is the guide i used to install mac osx from the disk. I modified the bootloader slightly to include the ATY_Init kext and that enabled me to load up and install osx fine. Then I am at a bit of a loss... The furthest I've got is to install the bootloader listed in that thread and install the ATY_Init kext and boot up with out the CD but I only have 1024 resolution and the system profiler doesn't see my GPU as anything more than 256mb GPU. Both my monitors do work though. Ideally I would like both monitors to work as an extended desktop with high resolution. I am so confused as to what version of ATY_Init kext I am supposed to use and when I should upload to 6.4 any advice much appreciated! I am willing to pay for a solution or make a donation to someones preference! I don't expect to be helped for free! Nor do I want my answers on demand without me doing a little leg work! But I've read through this entire thread and Im at a loss haha Thanks guys! Also - Each time I get a KP or blackscreen through trial and error I'm not sure of the best way round it so I am reinstalling OSX everytime...very time consuming... Is there anyway I can use my bootloader CD that works and boot back into the desktop without having to reinstall EVERYTHING. I know about -s mode but not sure what the command is to mount my drive and whether that will work
Mohamed Khairy
@scotthooker 1- setup 10.6.3 or 10.6 2- update to 10 10.6.4 3-setup chameleon latest installer from here 4-replace boot file with file i uploaded in page 34 5-add to boot.plist graphicsenabler and use ati.rom use chameleon perf that will be installed with installer it willl be easy to add two keys using it 5-put rom i linked above (hd5770) on extra 6- restart 7-install GFX update 1.0 from apple 8- restart now it must work
scotthooker
Wow great reply thanks for the advice cracking on with that now! 4 - which boot file on page 34 rev513.zip? Just trying to package everything on to my USB before I crack on and try all this out 5. not sure I am going to understand this instruction do you mean add a string called graphicsenabler to boot.plist? and what is ati.rom and what do i have to do with that another string? I follow that I can use the perf panel in the new chameleon to add these but not quite sure what i am adding! Don't feel obliged to answer those questions! I should be able to work it out when OSx finishes installing...again. Also - on a side note I plan to dual boot osx (once its installed) with windows 7. I have two hard drives and my plan is to install osx as I am now then unplug that hard drive, plug in my other one and install windows 7 then plug them both in and hopefully the bootloader will work between the two. I'll check this out properly in the other forum later.
daskog
Whats the Performance of the HD 5770 like in viewports (modo) and in Desktop interaction? i currently have a 8800GT that is kinda sluggish. I really need to know how it is with dragging windows (is it fast?) Windows 7 with GTX 460 is blazing fast.
