tmongkol any chances of me reading your GFX0 code so i can add it to my DSDT then i won't need the bootloader :thumbsup_anim: does it function the same as the bootloader?

I don't use GFX0's DSDT for ATI graphic card on OS X 10.6. It needs to add a lot of number of bin image and this is not a good idea. I used to try it but it failed from waking up. I got this method from somewhere but I can't remember where it is. So, the best way is using bootloader for ATI graphic card. I added only "hda-gfx" for getting HDAU device (HDMI audio) to work. Unfortunately, I still couldn't get HDAU of ATI graphic card working.

Hi,

i have a Radeon 5770 (Sapphire 1GB Version) too and nothing but ATY_init (Vervet) worked.

LSPCI Output:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device [1002:68b8]
01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device [1002:aa58]

many thanks for your work!

i think you misunderstood me..

i installed the new drivers:

ATI5000Controller.kext

ATISupport.kext

ATIFramebuffer.kext

ATIRadeonX3000.kext

ATIRadeonX3000GA.plugin

ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle

ATIRadeonX3000VADriver.bundle

and the ATY_init kext (Vervet).

All other combinations did not work (ATY_init with Uakira; Asere bootloader with GraphicsEnabler)

so i installed the new driver too and it works (PowerColor 5770 1gb).

HPET is set to 32bit as far as i know right now.

the only problem i have is mouse and keyboard input lag (every 3 seconds for about 0.1 second)

i searched the internet, but i dont know how to fix it. already deleted this appleupdatething.kext .

any other ideas?

thanks

I've followed everything, tried a whack of different options, I can't seem to get past a kernel panic from the 3000 kext...

Painfully aggravating!

I want my 5750! LoL

0x68BE1002 is in the 3000... should it be? I've tried removing it, but to no avail...

I've tried a fresh OS install even (several times actually, since I've got a spare SATA drive with in install disc loaded to it, and it only takes about 5 minutes to install LOL)

//managed to get rid of the kernel panic (problem with the boot loader, not kexts, go figure.)

//however, after following everything, I boot up normally, when the Apple GUI should load up I get a blank screen full of defects and artifacts. It's "trying" to work, but just can't seem to get into the actual desktop.

My boot plist is empty except GraphicsEnaber=Yes

I tried adding pciroot=0 and 1

Do I need to do anything to the kexts maybe? I tried the default Ukaria(?sp) and Vervet, no dice on either, same screen with defects. (note, it does the exact same thing with, or without the ATY_init.kext

I'm lost, any help someone could offer would be appreciated.

got it finaly work with Vervet!

No graphic glitches anymore  great, really really great!

thank you!

//edit: but as a new hackintosh user i have one more question.

how reliable is this system now? i mean it runs stable, but i didnt

do that much on it until now.

is this thing a safe thing? can i trust it, i mean, it would'nt be that

nice if someday this thing stops working and all my data is just screwed up.

thanks for your answers x)

@atlee

This is an example.

Q9400_HD4870_EP45_UD3R_DSDT.dsl.zip

It is for HD4870. You will see a lot of number of bin image in DSDT. GFX0 in DSDT will be working for such HD4870 on OS X 10.6, it requires the data of bin image.

I could not remember where I got this bin image but I am sure it's from insanelymac.

Thats how i am sometimes, i still dont have everything on my working right. Like when i shutdown it just restarts..and i have tried everything imaginable. but im afraid that Apply may start cracking down on this or something....or start having intel make processors specifically for the mac and stop a lot of these hacked kernels and stuff....i mean it will be hard to stop it completely..i just am afraid it may happen..but as far as loosing data...you can always get an external enclosure and hook it up to a real mac or something....and get all of your data off of it....if anything and you dont have a mac you can get software that allows windows to read mac partitioned hard drives......so losing the data should not be a huge problem....i would worry more about hard drive failure or something like that...than that.....if anything get an external hard drive and create a time machine back up...

Noob Question: How do i change framebuffer from default Uakari to Velvet?

well you can right click on the kext and click show package contents...then click contents..then info.plist i think..and where it has the 5700 series info just change it all there..i dont have the step by step instructions...but you can also just use the kext that i uploaded.lol

Shortman they won't make Intel CPU's specifically for Apple, Wasting too much money. Backup your mac contents with SuperDuper regularly if your ihack crashes no problem buy a new hardrive and restore it using SL Install DVD. I do not see a real mac being more stable then a ihack but i guess it all depends on the hardware your running and how much of your hardware is supported.

Now that my system has ATI 5770 up and running I have no need to go back to windows unless i wish to do my tax or something :D My system never crashes, freezes, can restart, shutdown, sleep, screen sleep come back on, everything works as it should.

Creating a kernel that cannot be hacked or modified, in my lifetime of being in computers for over 10 years that has never ever happened, never will be created.

I say if your new to the OSX ihack scene do a lot of reading and learn how to edit files, how the kernel works, how the terminal works, if something fecks up, how to identity what file is causing it so you can remove it, best to know your system inside and out then you can get it up and running nice and smooth :(

I am new to the ihack scene, I know may way around computers and have alot of free time at the moment (through injury)

I have a custom build PC running a 5770. I have read through the guide applicable to my mobo but can't get it to load after the boot132 cd, passed the black screen - do i have to load the graphics drivers into the boot132 cd?

Having trouble getting this to work using tmongkol's method. Managed to get it working using netkas method but the resolution was running at something 1280x1024 only and of course only 32bit mode and it was only mirrored display not extended.

I suspect it might be the combination of the DVI connectors but can't determine what others have used successfully - do 2 DVI connectors work providing an extended desktop.

Just seems to get black screens in doing normal boot and single user.

Also my card has a device of 68b8.

Any pointers ?

I manage to overcome my resolution problem with switchtXres. But after I installed my screen resolution I got a black screen (out of range resolution)

so I deleted :

 • /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
 • ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.xxxx.plist

And then i could choose the right ones.

Hope it will help

good day

Hi guys :P

I've bought a new PC (see signature) and i would install SL: the "little" problem is the graphic card, an HD 5750 1GB.

In this topic I see that now is possible use this, also with 64 bit architectures, but I don't know how install SL with needed drivers already working :(

I would follow tonyosx86 instructions, using #####+#####, but in that case probably I have to "insert" 5750 driver in the boot cd: is it true? Could you suggest me a smart way to install SL and make my HD 5750 working?

Thank you very much!

Can somebody confirm that MSI R5770 Hawk is working?

msi_r5770hawk-01_k.jpg

@Matteonerm: I have not yet tested, but as far as I can tell - whatever method you use - you have to be on 10.6.4 as the new kexts are only supported with the updated OS. So you first have to install & then update your system & then try out the methods described in here.
