iCrash
Absolutely no mobile versions of the Core Duo processor work with both core's enabled on a hackintosh install. It has been reported across the board. Sorry to burst your bubble kevin, Darkside must be completely mistaken. The cpus and idlehalt method are the only ways of fixing the issue, short from disabling multi-core in the BIOS. Are you sure about that? Unless JaS 10.4.8 automatically diables one core I am running both cores. EDIT: Oh you said Core Duo, I have Centrino Duo, my bad... kevinosx
My 1405 is only a few months old and I have 2 years of warranty on it that will probably see an added year. I would not be willing to lose a paid warranty over dual cores. I was one of the first to report that 2 cores were no go with new kernel, and I too have been searching for a fix since the beginning. I'm still on the fence as to the bios being the problem, my 1405 has more options then I've seen on most laptops and I don't understand what features or options you guys think are missing that would help the situation. Bios are limited on notebooks for a reason, to protect the manufactures ass and to keep users from frying their machines. I can run both cores in any other OS, that is what leads me to believe that this is strictly an osx kernel and mobile cpu issue Yeah I know you've been researching it for a hell of a long time, most threads I find about it have you in them! So unless some Kernel breakthrough happens it's probably just time to can it until the efi emulation is out. Are you sure about that? Unless JaS 10.4.8 automatically diables one core I am running both cores. EDIT: Oh you said Core Duo, I have Centrino Duo, my bad... I thought centrino duo was core duo? Mines centrino duo and they call it "core duo 2.0 t2500" And what are your specs? do you know what kernel and what version? Because it's interesting that you have the same processor as mine (just a little slower) and it's working! But you have a Gateway and I have a Dell. Comeon, if that's the case then it has to be bios!! EDIT: my front side bus is different than his 666mhz Edited January 31, 2007 by kevinosx
iCrash
Well here's my system profile. It looks like it is using both cores. system_profile.tiff
linh1987
As long as you're runnning on dualcore CPU and your MAC run normally (I mean not stutter, but I doubt it), you can say both cores are running.
iCrash
As far as I can tell it does not stutter. It actually runs very smoothly.
SkyZ
Heard that some laptops able to use both core (HP, Gateway.... etc), and some don't (Dell is definitely on the list). I think it's all depend on the BIOS....
kevinosx
HOLY {censored} ICRASH!! You're running 2 cores!! So I noticed the two differences I see from that screen is that mine says: Machine Model: ACPI and yours says, Machine Model: ADP2, 1 that and the front side bus is different. Please, what type of kernel are you running?! just the one off the Jas 10.4.8 install dvds? (Myzar or Semthex) Edit: ADP2, 1 means Apple Development Platform, Something is telling your version of OSX that you are using one of the Developers kits! http://www.macmegasite.com/node/2520 So does that mean your using a modified kernel from an ADP platform? The ADP used a basic PC bios and basic pc motherboard etc. Do me a favor, can you open the installation dvd you used and drag the kernel out of the root directory or type mach_kernel in your little search bar at the top right of the computer, go to the kernel location and copy it to your desktop. Then will you email it to me at spanishgringoboy at yahoo.com ? Edited February 1, 2007 by kevinosx
mifki
rofl n00bs. Hes most likely using th eold kernel (8.4.1) NOT THE NEW ONE (8.8.1), and most hackintoshs are reported as adp
