i1sam Posted June 24, 2006 Share Posted June 24, 2006 this is a 14 days old since i bought this macbook.... now... without the magsafe attached i cannot use the macbook..... i connect the magsafe and the baby boot-up..... but the battery icon say an x, and sense a no battery attached.... i called long distance apple care here in the philippines, and advices me to reset v ram by holding option-apple-pr and reset the baby... for 3 sets... yet with no able still i cannot start the macbook without plugging it in.... then the technician again advice me to drain the battery.... i am doing it now will im posting this.... has anyone has the same experience as this... now without the power magsafe... still the macbook runs.... it just not software detect the battery.... but i am posting this now without the magsafe plugged in to a power outlet... i am so desperate now.... so after the draining.... the battery will function normally again.... manila is very very far from my place .... its $200 away thru airlines.... i1sam Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20360-please-help-me-on-this/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
Colonel Posted June 24, 2006 Share Posted June 24, 2006 Try taking out the battery while it's on and then putting it back in and see what it does. I had the same problem with my iBook and that fixed it. i1sam Posted June 24, 2006 Author Share Posted June 24, 2006 thanks for the quick reply colonels1020.... i just did it now as you suggested.... while its still running... i removed the battery... using my thumb fingernail and after 5 sec the tilt the baby and put again the battery.... the reaction was... the battery icon turns from charging then just a few sec... turn again to battery icon with "x" with no battery available... i have also done done this... turn off the unit... after a few sec... without the magsafe on.. i removed the battery and after a few sec... return it back and immediately press the power and its turn on to the system... then the bat icon turn from full to icon x..... wow this is driving me crazy.. i also try thiss... without the magsafe... remove the battery.... and after a few sec... return the bat back and just a few sec... lock the bat.... then press the power on... without rection from the macbook... it doesnt turn on... wow... and i am months away from going back to the store.... Resetting MacBook and MacBook Pro Power Management Unit (PMU) MacBook, MacBook Pro If the computer is on, turn it off. Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery. Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter. Press the Power button to restart the computer. done it and i thought it cures it.... but the x icon battery is back again... Call up Applecare and see if they can send you a replacement battery. Call up Applecare and see if they can send you a replacement battery. woooh.... colonels1020... this is depressing.... ill just choose my action not to feel depress.... ive called the apple store where i bought the macbook and told them everything, and agreed, this day they will just record my issues and i have to wait till july 30 when i have a scheduled travel in manila for them to replace my battery, for now... ill just be contentent to use the magsafe everytime i boot-up and use the baby.... to save the $200US plane ticket.... hope it will magically return to normal tomorrow.. lovegren Posted July 11, 2006 Share Posted July 11, 2006 The exact same thing happened to my 15" mbp. It appeared that the battery had died, the battery led on the bottom would blink a couple of times quickly when the button was pressed then go out. An X on the battery meter. I upgraded my BIOS and it was fixed. Make sure you follow the directions carefully.
