inquisitor06 Posted December 30, 2007 Share Posted December 30, 2007 Seeing as I have a machine that just has Windows on it (for now), here's what I use: IE7: It hangs once or twice, but kills Safari, Firefox, & Opera in memory usage; and with this thing called a 'firewall,' it's quite safe to use as a go-to browser; Firefox: I use for my important stuff; serious memory hog; might get skittish, but rarely crashes Safari: I use for general browsing, but it still isn't ready for primetime as it crashes unexpectedly, and still renders some pages bizarrely; works fine with eBay; Flock: I have it installed, but I use it when I need to do more than one thing (blog/use Flickr); Netscape: Version 9 is great (although it seems like Firefox without some of the plugin support that slows it down, so it's usually pretty fast; Opera: I may reinstall opera at some point, but the fact that it's plain hideous has a lot to do with it; when I did use it, I was happy with the performance, not the appearance. S.SubZero Posted December 31, 2007 Share Posted December 31, 2007 Out of the blue: What is wrong with IE7? I find the interface too un-Windows. Stuff seems to be all over the place. Nevermind it's a popular target of the seedy types. On XP64 I use Firefox x64. It doesn't do Flash or other plugins but on the off-chance I need to watch a youtube video or something I can fire up IE7. I do a lot of virtualization stuff, and in every guest that has Seamonkey, I use that. Since some of these OS's (like OS/2 and BeOS) have inferior or antiquated normal mail and chat apps, I like that Seamonkey gives me modern web, mail, and IRC with a consistent interface in several operating systems. mister_doodi Posted February 19, 2008 Share Posted February 19, 2008 Opera beta, because it saves my bookmarks on their server and it'll never be lost due to my error and I can retrive it anytime and it syncs between differnt computers. I have tried IE7 on Vista a few days, it was pretty fast and much more secure all around (with Vista anyway) but it just wasn't flexible enough and the default UI... man. I also gave Safari a shot in the early betas on XP. It was ok but, like IE7, was too much of a firefox ripoff. It was somewhat fast but crashed a lot and I'm not really fan of that metallish colorscheme, but that one is up to me Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

However, I am starting to feel the need for something more native to osx, though so far safari just didn't do it for me. Might give camino a try again someday. Dont really care right now, just wanted to say that I was forced the other day to use IE and found that the browser of my youth was totally confusing to me. I use Thunderbird as my email client/calander too. I'm slowly switching everyone at the office to Thunderbird too. I only use IE to test sites and that's it. It renders fonts ugly and it too is ugly. I must say that I am feeling like I should go over to Firefox on OS X as well, Safari is nice and its extremely fast, but the extensions support is poor compared to Firefox and FF has a feature that I can't live without, download pausing, and Safari doesn't come with these features which leaves me to use 3rd party trial download manager software Firefox 3 sounds very promising! ~pcwiz Posted March 15, 2008 Share Posted March 15, 2008 Yeah, also, to be honest, I don't have many problems with IE7 on Vista (had probs with it on XP but not on Vista so far) and overall its a pretty good browser, and a major improvement over IE6. Not to say its my favorite browser but it works fine I couldn't switch over to IE7 even if I wanted to because my brain is not comfortable with any other browser other than Firefox on Windows...but maybe if there was a Firefox mod for IE7 j/k Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can get it if you sign up for free at developer.apple.com OMG it is so fast! Much faster than Safari 3.0.4 not to mention much more stable. Running on a 1200mhz Celeron with 512mb RAM, this sucker is blazing! It is definitely my favourite browser for Windows XP right now. Firefox 3 beta 4 is great too, but...this is my no.1. Edit: Just found that changing the MaxBundleVersion entry in the info.plist in the Contents folder of the bundle to 99999 will let it load. IE7 has tabs now but too late I already have been Foxed And is there away to make a link open in a new tab by default like in FF? Edit: There is. Tools-> Internet Option -> Tabs/ Settings.
