iam7805 Posted June 22, 2006 Share Posted June 22, 2006 Hello, I attempted installing the JaS 10.4.3 release which I download from The Pirate Bay on a Dell Latitude C840 (Pentium 4, 512mb RAM, 40gb HDD). I started with a completley empty hard drive that was erased using Active @KillDisk FREE. Having no idea if there was a proper way to install OS X, I just popped in the disc and installed. I didn't use the '-v' switch. Installation went quite smoothly, no problems there. Just partitioned my disk with the Disk Manager and installed with a Custom installation (all options selected except the X11 window manager). The partition was formatted with the HFS file system. After it was done installing, it rebooted my machine and I took out the DVD. Instead of being greeted by the nice gray Apple screen, I get a nasty 'b0 error' message. This got a huge 'WTF' from me. I've given you all the information I can remember, can anybody help me? I can probably get more information if someone can ask me a specific question. Is it possible to use something like the Windows 98 EBD and use the FDISK to set the partition active? This would allow me to avoid the time it takes to download a disc iso. iam7805 Posted June 24, 2006 Author Share Posted June 24, 2006 Ok, fixed that. New problem though. After I set the partiton active I tried booting and it seemed to work until the screen just became blank for 5 seconds and then the computer restarted. I tried -v but I can't see errors because the screen blanks instantly. I tried the following switches as well: -v -v -x platform=x86pc -v -x And other combinations of those. Any ideas?
