twonine
hi all...i'm going to crazy... i have an ASUS P5E DELUXE... is the same of P5E? can anyone help me with full patch my DSDT? ty I have both the P5E and the P5E Deluxe... i just flashed the Deluxe with the standard P5E firmware. A lot of people flash the Deluxe with the Rampage firmware, I just used one of the many tutorials for doing so, but substituted the plain P5E firmware. Worked fine. oracle100
oldnapalm, OMG, you are god!!!! (I can kiss you and hug you and all that but I won't.) I have been trying to install 10.6 on a P5E for over 5 months, without success. I've probably wasted 300 hours trying different configurations, kext combinations, multitude of boot loaders, etc., etc., etc. One day I was browsing and searching through this forum and ran across your post. I figured I give it a go and tired your DSDT file and suggested kexts, it worked like a charm!!! It took maybe 40 minutes tops! I was so happy, I literally jumped for joy -- cartwheels and backflips and all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Jeff
Zprood
segundojazz, 1) remove my dsdt.aml 2) add RAM and boot without the dsdt.aml, it should boot (without fixes) 3) extract your dsdt.aml using DSDT_Patcher 4) attach your dsdt.aml and I will patch it, or patch it yourself Hi ! I also have the problem about restart ,cause I can use openhaltrestart.kext to restart computer ,but when use latest versions of chameleon which contain fix restart issue without openhaltrestart.kext by editing dsdt .And I try to do some without succeed .My MB bios is phoenix . Could you help me to do it ? Thanks a lot ! Here is Raw dsdt from OSX : dsdt.zip Regards !
dewberry
Dear, oldnapalm I have got original Asus P5E mobo (Core 2 Quad Q9650, 8GB RAM). But i have used modified Rampage Formula 0902 BIOS for it: [ http://godlike.icore.ru/download/rampage-a...21_fc-slp20.zip ] Cause this BIOS recently compatible with P5E with good BIOS fetures. Also it containes NVIDIA SLI support, SLP 2.0 (id:FC) and SLIC 2.1 (id:1B) certificates. I have one question - does it possiple to use your solutions for this BIOS as well? Just I'm going to use Mac OS X for P5E and have no any experience with DSDT BIOS manipulation. Thank You in Advanced.
oldnapalm
I also have the problem about restart ,cause I can use openhaltrestart.kext to restart computer ,but when use latest versions of chameleon which contain fix restart issue without openhaltrestart.kext by editing dsdt .And I try to do some without succeed .My MB bios is phoenix . I don't know of a restart fix in DSDT, it's done in FACP. If recent Chameleon doesn't fix it, you can use OSXRestart kext, it fixes restart after sleep/wake as well (see first post). I have got original Asus P5E mobo (Core 2 Quad Q9650, 8GB RAM). But i have used modified Rampage Formula 0902 BIOS for it: [ http://godlike.icore.ru/download/rampage-a...21_fc-slp20.zip ] Cause this BIOS recently compatible with P5E with good BIOS fetures. I believe it will work, but can't be sure, you will have to test. Use "DSDT Editor" to apply the P5E patch pack to your DSDT (see the beginning of the first post), it was tested on other ASUS motherboards also. oldnapalm
It looks alright, but the attached file is a DSL (source code) besides having an AML extension. It's not binary, you have to compile it then save as AML, before copying to the Extra folder.
atomiX_X
I'm having issues with a newly installed USB (internal) multi-card reader. My desktop won't go to sleep anymore if the card reader is connected. If it's not connected, I can sleep and wake from USB mouse/keyboard. If I try to sleep with the reader connected, the machine will appear to sleep (monitors go in sleep mode) and the fans and hard drives shut down for a fraction of a second before the system wakes right back up. I've tried to disable wake from USB entirely from the BIOS and that didn't work, which I found weird. I was hoping somebody might have some insight into this. I think the problem might be related to the built-in hub in the card reader, it has 3 USB ports on top of the 6 card slots. Here is some info that might help: USBE device in DSDT (where the reader is connected): Device (USBE) { Name (_ADR, 0x001A0007) Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) { Return (GPRW (0x0D, 0x04)) } } ioreg with no reader conected: +-o USBE@1A,7 | +-o IOService | +-o AppleUSBEHCI | +-o EHCI Root Hub Simulation@1A,7 | +-o AppleUSBHub | +-o IOUSBInterface@0 ioreg with reader connected: +-o USBE@1A,7 <class IOPCIDevice, id 0x100000185, registered, matche$ | +-o IOService <class IOService, id 0x1000001c2, !registered, !matc$ | +-o AppleUSBEHCI <class AppleUSBEHCI, id 0x1000001c3, registered, $ | +-o EHCI Root Hub Simulation@1A,7 <class IOUSBRootHubDevice, id $ | | +-o AppleUSBHub <class AppleUSBHub, id 0x100000201, registered$ | | +-o IOUSBInterface@0 <class IOUSBInterface, id 0x100000203, !r$ | +-o IOUSBHubDevice@fa200000 <class IOUSBHubDevice, id 0x10000020$ | | +-o AppleUSBHub <class AppleUSBHub, id 0x10000023f, registered$ | | +-o IOUSBInterface@0 <class IOUSBInterface, id 0x100000241, !r$ | +-o USB2.0-CRW@fa210000 <class IOUSBDevice, id 0x100000281, regi$ | +-o IOUSBCompositeDriver <class IOUSBCompositeDriver, id 0x100$ | +-o Bulk-In, Bulk-Out, Interface@0 <class IOUSBInterface, id 0$ | +-o IOUSBMassStorageClass <class IOUSBMassStorageClass, id 0$ | +-o IOSCSILogicalUnitNub@0 <class IOSCSILogicalUnitNub, id$ | | +-o IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00 <class IOSCSIPeripheral$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageServices <class IOBlockStorageServic$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageDriver <class IOBlockStorageDriver$ | +-o IOSCSILogicalUnitNub@1 <class IOSCSILogicalUnitNub, id$ | | +-o IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00 <class IOSCSIPeripheral$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageServices <class IOBlockStorageServic$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageDriver <class IOBlockStorageDriver$ | +-o IOSCSILogicalUnitNub@2 <class IOSCSILogicalUnitNub, id$ | | +-o IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00 <class IOSCSIPeripheral$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageServices <class IOBlockStorageServic$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageDriver <class IOBlockStorageDriver$ | +-o IOSCSILogicalUnitNub@3 <class IOSCSILogicalUnitNub, id$ | | +-o IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00 <class IOSCSIPeripheral$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageServices <class IOBlockStorageServic$ | | +-o IOBlockStorageDriver <class IOBlockStorageDriver$ | +-o IOSCSILogicalUnitNub@4 <class IOSCSILogicalUnitNub, id$ | +-o IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00 <class IOSCSIPeripheral$ | +-o IOBlockStorageServices <class IOBlockStorageServic$ | +-o IOBlockStorageDriver <class IOBlockStorageDriver$
oldnapalm
Try removing _PRW from that device. Device (USBE) { Name (_ADR, 0x001A0007) } _PRW (Power Resources for Wake)This object is only required for devices that have the ability to wake the system from a system sleeping state. atomiX_X
Try removing _PRW from that device. Device (USBE) { Name (_ADR, 0x001A0007) } Sorry I forgot to mention this in my initial post. I removed the _PRW method from all my USB devices (USB0, USB1, USB2, USB4, USB5, USB6, EUSB, USBE) and it still didn't solve the problem. I was fully expecting it to work, just like disabling wake from USB in the BIOS I was attempting what is described here.
atomiX_X
Problem has been solved. After reviewing the system logs, it turns out there was another device causing the system to wake, GBEC. I still don't know what this device is but after removing it's _PRW method, all is well. Thanks oldnapalm.
MaLd0n
DSDT Auto-Patcher ASUS P5E DSDT_Auto_Patcher_ASUS_P5E.zip This is a DSDT auto-patcher for the ASUS P5E. It was created using DSDT Editor (by el coniglio) and uses this new feature that extracts the DSDT, applies the patches, fixes known compile errors, compiles and saves the patched dsdt.aml in your desktop. ESB2 AHCI (silver icons for internal HDs instead of orange ones) This "fix" was not used as it reduces capabilities, including real 64bit sata transfer and hotplug. MysticWizard
Hi All, First of all thank you for this DSDT file. I used the 4GB on the start topic together with the kext files listed. Everything seems to work OK. However, Since I have a P5E3 Deluxe X38, I have the question if the kexts + DSDT supplied are the most optimal ones for me and if I should also install other ones. Another question I have is that I used ##### supported + ##### to install OSX 10.6.4 and chose the DSDT option for installing it which requires me to copy the AML file to the desktop and it uses that one. It does not ask for kext files. If I understand correctly I have to put all kext files in a folder extra\extentions on the OS drive of my SL installation. Also is this way of installing OK or is it not advised? Yet another question is audio related. Can you confirm that my X-Fi platinum PCIe will not work? I also remember I used taruga drivers in the past with the kalyway install, they had a better support for the soundcard, is the soundcard kext supplied the best one available? Last but not least, the guy above here talks about chameleon RC5 with native power management + restart fix. Can I update my ##### install with that one and remove the kext file? My signature should contain all the info about my system that is needed. Thanks for the info. I will post a compatibility list after I am sure I have all the kexts I need. Amazingly I am able to use dual display which I remember not being possible with the kalyway install I did in the past. Also, my keyboard seems to be fully supported once I install the logitech OSX setpoint drivers
oldnapalm
I do not recommend using the dsdt.aml file provided in the first post, mainly if your mobo is not the P5E with BIOS 1201. My suggestions: 1) Remove the dsdt.aml, reboot, then use Maldon's patcher to generate a new patched DSDT based on your original one from BIOS. Use this file with Chameleon RC5 for C-states generation (P-states are optional since they are present in original SSDT). OR 2) Remove the dsdt.aml, reboot, then use DSDT Editor and my patch from first post and create a new patched DSDT based on your original one from BIOS. Use this file with Chameleon RC4 or RC5 WITHOUT C-states generation (P-states are optional since they are present in original SSDT, and C-States are inserted into DSDT by my patch). I don't know #####, but I believe it's a good way to install, although I don't know which kexts it installs and if they are needed for this mobo. For audio the provided kext works fine for me (needs original AppleHDA in /S/L/E), but VoodooHDA works the same. If it doesn't work for you and you want to try VoodooHDA, you have to remove HDEF patch from DSDT. I have not tested Chameleon RC5 restart patch in this mobo yet, but I believe it works. MysticWizard
Thanks for your info. Guess I have to study dsdt files. Saw a hardware list thingy on here somewhere too might try that to find all the kexts I need. Will report back when I am condfident I have everything in order. MysticWizard
Hi Again , Concerning the audio, it is working properly, but, I seem to remember more options in the past. I read something about VooDooHDA, i'd like to try that one (don't know how yet) Uhm so after a some reading about the DTST patcher or auto patcher I get the feeling that I still need to somehow create some of my own patches like the ASUS P5E.txt file you made. I'd also like to try the VoodooHDA kext. Since all this is completely new to me I do not know yet how to locate what I need to change and what to change it in to I have another request if you feel up to it I used the system info program mentioned somewhere else and this is its results (with your P5E 4GB DSDT.aml): Devices: 8086;Intel Corporation;29e0;82X38/X48 Express DRAM Controller;Bridge;Host bridge 8086;Intel Do I need C states, and do you by any chance know what this means? oldnapalm
Your mobo is very similar to P5E, you can use Maldon's patcher for the P5E or my patch in first post. The only thing you are missing is that you should apply the patches to your original DSDT instead of using the DSDT.aml from P5E. Please read the 2 suggestions in my previous post. dewberry
Hi, chaps I've successfully extracted dsdt section from ASUS Rampage Formula BIOS 1001 with SLIC 2.1 which I used into P5E mobo. Then I applied oldnapalm's P5E DSDT Patches and inserted NVIDIA SLI. I need help cause a problem is new compiled dsdt section is bigger (44977 bytes) then original (44340 bytes). But really I can use 44352 bytes maximum for DSDT BIOS section. Anyone who advanced into ACPI source language please help me to do attached DSDT.ZIP section much smaller. It is interesting real optimization or cuts of unneeded things w/o suggestions which I can do myself such as: - removing lines like: If(MCTH(_OS_, "Microsoft WindowsME: Millennium Edition")) - using abridgements like: "CPU Temp." against "CPU Temperature" Please help me and I can do SL Ready BIOS with cool features for P5E/Maximus/RF mobos. Thnx. DSDT.ZIP
oldnapalm
You can remove some devices which are not used by Mac OS, such as: PS2K (PS2 Keyboard) SPKR (Speaker) FDC (Floppy Disk Controller) There are many other things you can change/remove to reduce DSDT size, take this post as reference http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1280888
MysticWizard
Hi again So I chose your first suggestion removing aml, using p5E auto patcher and updated to RC5. I think it worked ok but would you mind taking a look Here is everything I have got (ioreg,com.apple.boot.plist,dsdt.aml,system info devices+kexts). The main thing I am wondering now is if I can remove some kexts. I guess my next adventure will be to install OSX using only chameleon + kexts. The challange will be installing chameleon on my hfs+ disk from either dvd or usb stick? Ah well Should I contact the writer of the auto patcher so he can create a specific one for the P5E3 Deluxe? oldnapalm
You can remove these kexts: OpenHaltRestart.kext (shutdown patch in DSDT and restart fix in Chameleon RC5) PlatformUUID.kext (supported by Chameleon since RC4) The patcher for P5E works for your mobo, no need to make another patcher, it would be the same. You could report to the author, although. Did you check SpeedStep with VoodooMonitor?
MysticWizard
You can remove these kexts: OpenHaltRestart.kext (shutdown patch in DSDT and restart fix in Chameleon RC5) PlatformUUID.kext (supported by Chameleon since RC4) The patcher for P5E works for your mobo, no need to make another patcher, it would be the same. You could report to the author, although. Did you check SpeedStep with VoodooMonitor? Yes I see 4 cores alternating between 2 GHz and 3GHz in the status tab. So it does change something there. Thanks for the reply will remove these 2 and test if it works. Hereby my Kernel.log. If there's something there I should fix let me know (A) Oct 31 01:11:23 Anonymouss-iMac kernel[0]: systemShutdown true Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: npvhash=4095 Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: PAE enabled Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: 64 bit mode enabled Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: Darwin Kernel Version 10.4.0: Fri Apr 23 18:28:53 PDT 2010; root:xnu-1504.7.4~1/RELEASE_I386 Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: vm_page_bootstrap: 973074 free pages and 75502 wired pages Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: mig_table_max_displ = 73 Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=1 LocalApicId=0 Enabled Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=2 LocalApicId=1 Enabled Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=3 LocalApicId=2 Enabled Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=4 LocalApicId=3 Enabled Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: calling mpo_policy_init for Quarantine Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: Security policy loaded: Quarantine policy (Quarantine) Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: calling mpo_policy_init for Sandbox Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: Security policy loaded: Seatbelt sandbox policy (Sandbox) Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: calling mpo_policy_init for TMSafetyNet Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: Security policy loaded: Safety net for Time Machine (TMSafetyNet) Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: Copyright (c) 1982, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993 Oct 31 01:12:07 localhost kernel[0]: The Regents of the University of California. MysticWizard
Here I am again I managed to install OSX now by just booting with ##### supported then install and update and then installing Chameleon RC5 and then copying the folder extra with in there dsdt.aml com.apple.boot.plist + smbios.plist + extensions.mkext + extra (with kexts). I found out that can't boot into OSX without the smbios.plist file or possibly extensions.mkext. (can you confirm which one is absolutely necessary?) My current question is, can you post your smbios.plist My smbios.plist states imac 11.1. You say I could make it macpro 3.1, but there is this french guy on this forum (with an ASUS P5E3 (not deluxe which I have)) that tells people to avoid the macpro 3.1 and 4.1: google translate: smbios.plist (avoid MacPro3 models, 1 and 4.1: Kernel Panic with AppleTyMCEDriver.kext on P5E3)I advise you MacPro1, 1 / 2, 1 or iMac8, 1 / 9, 1 / 10, 1 This is the file for smbios.plist MacPro1, 1 Do you agree with him? Many thanks Once I have everything properly working I will make a as detailed as possible installation guide for my motherboard
oldnapalm
I confirm AppleTyMCEDriver KP with MacPro4,1 but not with 3,1 My smbios.plist <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacPro3,1</string> </dict> </plist>
