EJJIV
Alright, so I have the 10.4.3 version of OSx86, patched with Wesley's Patch on one copy, and patched with JaS.1111a.Generic.Patch.V4.2b and whenever I try to install in VMware or in native, I get an error that says i have to reboot after the spinning circle at the grey apple screen (I believe its a Kernel Panic, it says 'You need to reboot your compter' in a few different languages). Whenever I boot in VMware with the diagnostic menu as it trys to install, it hangs on "kdp_poll: no debugger device found". All the guides I could find said that it was a problem with USB so I disabled all USB devices in VMware and the same message still comes up. Same thing happens native excecpt I havent disabled the USB. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Rammjet
the "kdp_poll: no debugger device found" error means something happened and it can't find the debugger. the real error is listed right above where it says "panic". what is the last thing it says it cannot do before it panics? EJJIV
I should also probably note that I have Darwin 8.0.1 installed on here (I installed that when it first wasnt working because I assumed that it was a non-HFS+ partition related error, so I used Darwin to make an HFS+ partition.) I see alot of fails in there, so any help on any/all of them would be great. Thanks in advance :-D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19789-problem-installing-1043/#findComment-130067 Share on other sites

Rammjet
"still waiting for root device" is a nebulous problem where the system can't find your boot drive. First thing to do is to make sure your hard drive is primary master and your optical drive is primary slave. Also, be sure that you set your Mac partition "active" when you set it up. One person had a flash drive installed which fooled the system. Removing it solved his problem. EJJIV
Alright, I got through the "still waiting for root device" problem, but I still have the following error in the console whenever I try to boot: SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x24, ASCQ = 0x00 SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x24, ASCQ = 0x00 SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x24, ASCQ = 0x00 SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x24, ASCQ = 0x00 SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x24, ASCQ = 0x00 At that point, the system hangs, but I can still type into the Console. I read that in Darwin it would automaticaly go to the login screen if you press enter, but the console prompter just goes to a new line in OSX. Advice?
