O and A Posted January 27, 2011 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I followed this guide and all works except two things. USB apple keyboard is not recognized. I have 10.5.8 on another drive and it works just fine. PS/2 Keyboards work just fine in Snow Leo as well. Also Realtek connects to wifi but nothing happens. In System prefs>network shows that it is active but cannot obtain a proper IP address. Wired ethernet works just fine. Any ideas? Running 10.6.3 from retail disc. brucedemuro Posted August 5, 2011 Share Posted August 5, 2011 So after searching the forum and thinking about to do an update from my 10.5.8 Hackintosh (kalyway 10.5.2 install and iDeneb update), i luckily came to this Blog: http://prasys.co.cc/ And the Empire EFI from Pradeesh sounded really nice and i have given it a try and it was sooo easy. No Hacking, no DSDT patching required. Original Vanilla Kernel and 64-bit Mode enabled… Just updated to 10.6.2. There you have be carefull but is even relative easy if you do all Steps as declared. First of all my big respect to the following people who made this possible: of Course the master chief himself: Netkas from Russia, can be found on: www.netkas.org Pradeesh from Malaysia can be found here: http://prasys.co.cc/ Conti http://osx86.sojugarden.com/ and a lot of others people i'm sadly don't know the Names for suppling the Kexts… The installation is based on Empire EFi and myHack I'm running the following hardware: * Asus P5W DH Deluxe not latest Bios should be 2.5X or 2.6x * Core2DUO E2600 * Nvidia 7600 gt * 4gb of Ram * several HDDs (500gb Sata for Snow Leopard) * IDE DVD Drive * the BIOS Settings are the one from my Kallyway install so have a look over here: Steps you have to do Buy a legal Copy of Snow Leopard Download Empire efi (Version 1.0) http://prasys.co.cc/2009/10/empire-efi/ unzip and burn containig iso to cd (i used disk utility from hackintosh 10.5.8 – use what ever your want) burn slowly, not highest availabl speed. I made it with 8x Download Kext helper app from http://www.kexts.com/ Download the Kexts (VoodooHDA.kext, USB2 ECHI kext, NVenabler.kext from http://www.kexts.com/ Download Wifi Driver http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D1BOPR2I put in the CD Restart your PC/hackintosh and boot from CD (with inserted burned Empire EFI CD) After the empire Efi Screen Shows up (Darth Vader in the background) put CD out and put the Original Snow Leopard DVD in Press F5 – wait till it shows up on the screen (the SNow Leopard CD), select it and press enter (may take a while) Wait Start the usual Snow Leopard Installation Progress. Maybe you have to format your Harddrive via (Additional Software-> Disk Utility) and format/partition it to GUID Install Snow Leopard When the install has got finished, put Leopard DVD out Put the CD with Empire EfI back in your DVD and restart from CD again Now When Empire EFI shows up choose the Hard drive you installed Snow Leopard to and Hit Enter Then the usuall progress with timezones and adding an user… from Snow Leopard will appear (don't copy yout settings from an other Mac) When you are booted in Snow Leopard with an new User Go to the (Empire EFI) CD, there in the Folder: Extra/Post-Installation start: my-hack installer.mpkg and install myhack to your new Snow Leopard harddrive. Reboot without CD Install Kexts: VoodooHDA.kext, USB2 ECHI, for nvdia graphics, the Snow Leopard NVenabler kext. That's it Folks Hope to help yaa out with some answers ;-) Thanks so much for the guide, was able to install everything perfectly... I now need help updating... So, I have successfully installed SL 10.6 using the Empire Efi boot cd and the Retail copy of SL 10.6. The only thing I had to do to get everything working was, deleating the AppleHPET.kext (to get the usb working at full speed). Installed the following kexts: -NVEnabler 64.kext (for video) -VoodooHDA.kext (for sound) -AppleUSBEHCI.kext & AppleUSBUHCI (for usb) -AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext & VoodooPS2Controller.kext (for PS2 keyboard support) And finally installed the Realtek RTL8187 driver to enable Wifi. Everything is running flawlessly the thing is I need to update in order to be able and install some applications such as iLife and Autodesk Alias Studio. What are the steps I have to take in order to successfully update SL to at least 10.6.3 without messing anything up? I'm afraid of doing so and messing all my work so far... I did a forum search but couldn't find anything specific... My system is: Asus P5W DH Deluxe 6GB RAM DDR2 Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition Any info is welcome, thanks in advance! crazytim77 Posted October 7, 2011 Share Posted October 7, 2011 I have almost identical hardware- Asus P5W DH Deluxe Nvidia 7300GT 4GB 800 MHz Intel Dual core I just ran through the method and updated to 10.6.8 but I can't get it to sleep. This feature is a must have for me. I press the power button and it looks like it has gone to sleep, except for one case fan which is still spinning quietly. When I see that, I know the machine won't wake again. Any ideas why that happens? I have tried to install snow leopard ~10 times using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]/rebel efi and have got everything else working but this sleep problem always happens. I've set my BIOS to the original Lifehacker guidelines - the Leopard 10.5.1 Kalyway on a separate hdd sleeps and wakes fine - so perhaps the BIOS settings are fine. SleepEnabler.kext for snow leopard hasn't helped. Can anyone suggest a checklist to troubleshoot sleep for a hackintosh? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

nixosx Posted February 16, 2012 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Would someone please tell me where I can find the wifi drivers (ie. kext file) for the Asus P5W (bios 3002)? There's nothing at the end of the link provided at the top of the page. I have been searching around and haven't been able to find anything that works. Soooo frustrating.
