ultrasoul
Out of curiosity. Also reply to this thread stating the number of hours it last running windows after the number of hours it runs OS X. If you want, you could always add your laptop model and battery info. I'll have a go ... 2.5 hrs, 5 hrs on Windows XP Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19699-calling-all-laptop-owners/ Share on other sites

mark7714
Fully charged and screen at full brightness, it says 2 hours. I don't know if I really buy that, but with dimming, I think I could squeeze at least that much out of it, maybe a bit more. halfthelaw
Will we ever get battery indicators and such, or is that another pipe dream? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19699-calling-all-laptop-owners/#findComment-129759 Share on other sites
ultrasoul
Will we ever get battery indicators and such, or is that another pipe dream? Oh but we do already. Someone made a patch for it. Indicator is working just fine (but I can't verify that it reflects accurately as I haven't been using my OS X rig for that long). Patch is done by Keith I believe. Only problem now with OS X is that it sucks and sucks up a long of power (using it for more than 30 minutes on my system will create so much heat that the fans spin at max speed, creating a very very noisy and hot system) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19699-calling-all-laptop-owners/#findComment-129785 Share on other sites

iNap
My XPS M140 gets about 4 to 4.5 hours on its 9-cell battery (gets about 7 hours under XP, though the battery's big enough it sticks out the back of the machine). ZepFloyd
In XP I can squeeze 8 out of my extended battery on my Latitude 620. In Vista it's about 5.5 to 6. (wifi off) OS X is a different story. I only get 2.5 tops. That's really sad that I can 6 hours more in Windows. Either OS X sucks on power or it just doesnt understand the hardware well enough. -Bj
I think its just the OS not understanding the hardware, plus, I don't think it knows to clock down the CPU. I have a 760 (2.0 GHz) P-M and it looks like in OSX, its maxed out at that speed... this creates a lot of heat and loss of power in the battery. In vista and xp, I can get upto 8 hours (My max was 8 hr, 15 min) with the 80 wHr battery for the 6kd.
