GA-EX58 and GA-X58A DSDT native power management modifications

THanks for great work, sleep now works with my machine.

 

However, there is two problem:

 

1)unable to wake from my bluebooth magic mouse and kb

2)vmware will quit and unable to start up, require reboot

3)dvd rom will disconnect

4)system cannot reboot after wake, it stick on logout screen

 

These problem make sleep useless, anyone can help?

Not sure if it is an f9j bios issue though, it really is a bizarre bios. I have 4 BT dongles, with one of them, BT 2.1

the system will not boot because it seems to be trying to measure the amount of system RAM + RAM on the dongle

(12Gb + 800 bytes ?).

 

When I tried to revert to F9e the bios flash utility doesn't see my USB memory sticks with

the bios file on them

 

My other 3 USB dongles seem to get past system boot OK. The weird BT 2.1 dongle I mentioned does work if I

insert it during SL boot.

2: Are there any messages in kernel.log, system.log, or vmware-vmfusion.log that would point to the cause?

What VMware version are you using, and did you give it enough memory?

 

3: Does it have a SATA or IDE interface?

If SATA, is it attached to one of the Intel ports, or one of the JMicron ones?

 

4: Infrequently mine will hang at showing just a desktop pattern on restart, but I usually use shutdown instead.

Specifically what changes did you make to get idle sleep?

I never did anything to get idle sleep after I got rid of third party SleepEnablers some months ago both

software and idle sleep just worked as expected. I don't have any third party sleepy scripts just the Apple stuff plus

 

PCEFI 10.5, FakeSMC, EvOReboot, IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector, PlatformUUID + RealtekR1000SL

 

(my goal is to get rid of EvOReboot, IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector, PlatformUUID)

 

Fun started when I got 'wake from BT' working a couple of days back, seemed to kill idle sleep although

software sleep still worked.

 

Now today after some random but educated fiddling idle sleep started working again, still not as quick as before

when it was idle sleeping every ten minutes but I have a theory I'll check over the weekend. If I turn 'wake from BT

off I'm sure it would sleep after 10 mins (now it takes 20 mins to an hour depending what's running)

 

I didn't realise people had issues with idle sleep

Hey d00d, everytime you update your BIOS, do you have to redone your dsdt? To make it clear, i would like to update with a F9 one, currently using the F7, do i have to dump, etc,... or my dsdt (f7) should be fine?

UD5 BIOS F7 didn't have support for the yet to be released i9 CPU with sixteen processor cores defined (0-9, A-F) in `Scope (_PR)', it was added in F9e.

F9e, h, i and j are all the same relative to the extracted DSDT, and the only BIOS setting that changes it is ACPI Suspend Type;

S1(POS): `Name (\_S1, Package (0x04)' and `Name (\SS3, Package (0x04)'

S3(STR): `Name (\SS1, Package (0x04)' and `Name (\_S3, Package (0x04)'

I had both of them running fine with working sleep, but I only used regular HDDs.

Yesterday I got a Intel X25-M and moved my OS X to it. 2 days before I already upgraded to F9k.

Sleep still works, so give it a try!

Do you have any luck getting your hackintosh to auto sleep without the script? The script is OK but I found out that it force sleep no matter what you are doing. I know the new RIP script posted won't sleep when DVD and Quicktime is playing. But I wish the script can monitor disk activity instead. I was trying to download a large file from an ftp site. The computer went into sleep and stop the download. It is pain to remember to change the Energy setting everytime I try to download.

I needed it in 32 bit, but I'm now running in 64 bit so I'll test auto sleep again tonight.

Do you still have your BT dongle plugged in?

 

I have used most of the DSDT fixes on here and both idle and software sleep work perfectly without any scripts

provided wake from BT is off. My settings are 10 mins on idle and if left it sleeps every 10 mins.

 

But if I turn wake from BT on, it will idle sleep sometimes but often it wakes straight away. Software sleep always

works with or without BT. It is defiantly the v2.0 BT that keeps it awake (can't boot with the power saving 2.1 dongle)

 

I'm using F9K for UD5

it could be a very good idea to upload a 'file.txt' containing all mods, because even if you find it quite unbelivable, it is difficult to copy/paste those txt maintaining the tab format...and without that, one must rebuild the tab format and it is very easy to make mistakes

Quite, so all things considered we know it is possible with compatible hardware

 

For my part I have apple keyboard & mouse, my monitor is Formac (For Mac) which is a Mac compatible and

my video card is a red reference 4870. Only bluetooth causes issues, I have a choice of working idle sleep or

using 'wake from bluetooth'. But for power saving I choose sleep and use the keyboard to wake

Here are the 4 kext files I use. I have the 64 bit ethernet kext in /S/L/E

I use the native Apple kexts as configured by the DSDT file.

 

I only have an old 4.1 set of speakers and only use the 2.1 part as 1 of the speakers no longer works

I have a proper sound system and tv for my multimedia so not that bothered

 

I have used various audio kexts in the past to get 4.1 before one of the speakers died but have now deleted

them - never bothered to alter the DSDT following this as audio still worked

 

In general I try to run with a minimum of 3rd party kexts as I found in the past having incorrect mixes seems

to cause side effects

I thought I just did that, these are all the kexts I use plus PCEFI 10.5

so you dont have kexts like evoenabler, ati4800controller and atiradeonx2000? Do you have any ROM file in the Extra folder?
