jingomomma
I recently Installed 10.6 using some of the guides (MACinized) here but I'm running into some issues. Kernel panics, system is not stable wile being used, if left alone it's fine Audio, even following the DSDT guide I still have no audio. Still using a EFI String for video. I got audio to work once but was unsure how, and that was before I wiped the system to start fresh. I dont remember what combo of kexts and patches i may have used, I tried a lot! I found another guide written for the ep35-ds3l but the pgks error out on installs. Anyone else have success with it on this board? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=184367 Memory, I had 8gb of 1066mhz ram in the system but drop back to 4gb after memtest86 show errors with all 4 banks full. Using just 2 sticks I have no errors. Yes I tested all the sicks, the only time there was an issues was when all 4 were in use. Q1. I don't think the KP are related to the memory, but I was reading that more than 3gb can cause issues in 10.5. Does still hold true with 10.6? Q2. Audio question, is it easier to pick up a usb soundcard that just works or sit and mess with DSDT? Is there a downside to usb audio? Q3. I will try the "debug=0x100" so I can see what is causing the panic. Is there anything else I can do to find out what is causing the issues? Hardware GA-EP35-DS3L f5 bios 4GB PC8500 1066 2x2gb onboard audio PCI nic, on board disabled. Nvidia 7300 video card. Thanks! Your hardware is very close to mine and my SL install (now 10.6.2) has been very stable. A1. I doubt the memory is a problem. I use 4GB and it is fine. A2. I use USB speakers mostly, but have enabled HDA audio using a fixed DSDT plus 1 kext A3. Did you look in the Console messages to see if any complaints are being written there before the KP? Do you have a fixed DSDT for the EP35-DS3L? Have a look at this thread for the EP35-DS3L Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/196765-ga-ep35-ds3l-kernel-panic-and-other-issues/#findComment-1327362 Share on other sites
