For sleep have you tried moving your USBPWR jumper. Its on the motherboard near the yellow/black 4pin plug. Thats what got sleep working for me but I'm just running 10.5.8 retail install.
Genius! I've been trying to get my hackintosh to sleep for a year - searching all over the web for a solution. Nothing worked, until I tried this! All the mobo manual says about this jumper is that you need to switch it if you want your mouse/kbd to be able to wake the computer. When I first looked at it, I just assumed that switching it would be something that would prevent the computer from sleeping, as opposed to helping it sleep. A bit counter-intuitive... how did you figure it out?

Doesn't work for me. If I pull down the Apple Menu and select Sleep it will go to sleep right away and the only way to revive it is by shutting down with the power button and restarting. Does Sleep work for you when it's initiated through the Apple menu?

What your describing is exactly how my hackintosh would act before I tried moving this jumper setting perhaps it was already in that spot you can try moving it back and see if there's any change in the sleep state. also you can try in bios to change the sleep setting to S3 only. and you can also try enabling or disabling Legacy USB. The way I stumbled upon this fix was that on the ASUS P5L-VM 1394 board this jumper move was suggested to get sleep working on it so one day when I had the case open on my ECS I said what the heck here's that same type jumper I wonder if it might fix it on this board as well and bamm! sleep started working on reboot. Like I said I am NOT on Snow Leopard I am on 10.5.8 so I cannot say if SL will break sleep. Also it is a retail boot 132 install of 10.5.x so not sure if any added or removed kext could also affect it working. There are also the bios settings t regarding anything that has to do with sleeping and waking that might be played with I'd make sure that anything that has to do with enabling the keyboard or mouse to wake computer be enabled.

I tried this trick and sleep is now working for me as well! That was the last missing piece for me, my system is now working pretty much perfectly.

Anyone else have this happen (I wouldn't necessarily call this a problem- just interesting).. That is, the dvd drive randomly spins up as if the OS is trying to take inventory of whats in the drive, even if it's empty.. Very minor thing, but would like to get it to stop if possible.. Probably happens once an hour I'd say.

OSXtotheZ - What BIOS are you using? swinte said he is using the hacked BIOS. What's yours?

All right!

 

Finished installing from retail DVD. Did the same as swinte, and when updating to 10.6.2, as expected, it crashed due to SleepEnabler.kext. Reinstalled MyHack without SleepEnabler, and booted. Using a 9400GT, worked out of the box. The AirLink101 AWLH6080 works fine with drivers from Ralink, no problems there.

Bluetooth works fine, all USB ports are working, patched sound with voodoohda using Kexthelper. Just finished moving over applications and fixing serials etc for all of them, doing a full backup now.

 

No sleep though, other than that it works perfectly fine.

I am a noob in Mac OS. I followed myHack Installer Guide rev. 7 (http://osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/) trying to install SL 10.6 on my Dell Vostro 400 desktop. When booted from the prepared USB drive, Mac OS X installer only saw the USB drive. Going to the BIOS, there's no AHCI mode in SATA mode (only IDE or RAID). Have found and downloaded IOATAFamily.kext from the internet but didn't know how to install it onto the USB drive. Can someone help me out ? TIA.

 

 

 

EDIT: I copied IOATAFamily.kext into \Extra\Extensions folder on my USB, but Mac OS X installer still disn't see my SATA HDD.

Also tried myHack (without SleepEnabler) on my ECS 945CGT-M/1333 V3.0 board, but couldn't get pass "taking iSuck out of iHack" (?)

 

I not remember where i download the SL disk 10.6.2, but i just put in and install all working perfect. Only the sound has problem. But i have USB sound. No problem... All working great. No issue

I bought my Snow Leopard 10.6 from amazon and used it to install.

Does anyone tried the 10.6.3 update using myhack?

 

I read IOATAFamily.kext will cause problems. IMPORTANT NOTE: We have tested this with the OS X 10.6.3 beta and determined that it DOES NOT WORK and will in fact likely cause a kernel panic. If you require this extension due to a lack of SATA+AHCI do not upgrade to OS X 10.6.3 until a solution is discovered.

Its safe to update to 10.6.3, i use myhack 1.0 rc4.1 and boots ok.

 

Then applied the update of myhack 1.0 and stop booting and this error appears "memory allocation error 0xdeadbeef 0x0".

 

After reading some topics reinstall the myhack 1.0 from another disk this time with GraphicsEnabler option checked.

 

So these lines must be in the apple.boot.plist

GraphicsEnabler

Graphics Mode

1024×768x32

 

After these lines I added my graphic card efi string and have resolution ok. An myhack and kexts updated.

MyHack method confirmed working on this mobo. I'm running 10.6.4 with no issues, but sleep still doesn't work. I use a dual display NVIDIA 9600GS card.

 

Has anyone been able to make sleep work on this mobo?

have you tried moving your USBPWR jumper? Sometimes that will get sleep working.

Just installed 10.6.3 from a retail DVD using TonyMac's [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] CD to start it up for the initial install, followed by installing the MyHack installer. Loads just fine, the only thing is using the IONetworkingFamily.kext installed with MyHack (to /extras/extensions) causes the on-board realtek 8039/8101 to not recognize any networks. Haven't tried 64-bit mode yet, doubtful it'll work since this is a 945 board with a 32-bit memory controller, but worst case scenario is I pop his hard drive out and edit the "arch=x86_64" line out of the boot plist. Also, I'm willing to bet that this HDA controller won't work without VoodooHDA, but being he's using an external M-Audio device, I'm not concerned about this working or not.

 

The only major difference I notice between this system (PDC e5300, 2 GiB RAM, ECS 945 GCT-M/1333, GeForce 7600GS PCI-e) and my system (C2D e8400, 4 GiB RAM, Gigabyte EP43-DS3L, GeForce 8600 GTS PCI-e) is that the graphics enabler actually works on his system versus requiring an EFI string on mine. Otherwise, both are simple and straight-forward installs when using the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]/MyHack method on vanilla kernels.

I am using the v2.0 version of this board and had an easy install (compared to my Gigabyte board & my previous laptop). To save yourself some time, load TonyMac's "[url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]" and the OS 10.6.6 combo update onto a USB thumb drive before you begin.

 

I will also note that I used a USB keyboard and USB mouse. Not sure if that makes a difference, but my system had no trouble recognizing either.

 

1. Burn TonyMac [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] disk .iso image to a CD

2. Boot using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]

3. At Chameleon prompt, switch out [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] CD for the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail DVD and hit "F5"

4. Proceed with install (partition/erase as GUID MacOS/Extended)

5. At reboot prompt, hit reboot

6. F8 at reboot and insert [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] CD, select Boot from CD

7. Once [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] CD gets you to Chameleon prompt, select your newly installed hard drive

8. Boot into OSX, go through all the startup BS

9. Download OSX 10.6.6 combined update AND [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] (from TonyMac's site)

10. Install OSX 10.6.6 update. DO NOT REBOOT YET

11. Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] and choose [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. Install and reboot. LEAVE [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] CD in tray and boot from CD

12. Reboot with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] into your hard drive

13. (ENABLE VIDEO) I have an NVidia 8300GT card, so this is how I had to enable:

Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. Select "Drivers-->Graphics-->Enablers-->NVEnabler" and install

Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] once more and select "System Utilities" (both of them will select). Install and Reboot--this time WITHOUT the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] CD.

14. (ENABLE AUDIO) I may have done some overkill here, but this is how I did it & it worked.

 

Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. Select "Drivers-->Audio-->Realtek-->AppleHDA Rollback" and install

Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] once more and select "System Utilities" (both of them will select). Install and Reboot--without iBootCD

 

Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. Select "Drivers-->Audio-->Universal-->VoodooHDA 0.2.72" and install

Run [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] once more and select "System Utilities" (both of them will select). Install and Reboot--without iBootCD

That's all I had to do. I haven't checked all functions, but I have video (with recognition of my monitor), and I definitely have audio out. My DVD drive (IDE) works, and my SATA HD works and boots very quickly.

 

I believe I'm only using a Dual-Core Pentium, but it's snappy. Ethernet connected right after the install (allowing me to download the Combo update). USB jacks that I've tried worked fine, too.

 

45 minutes from start to finish. I hope this helps someone. I didn't fidget with my BIOS settings, but if you need them, let me know.

Just in case anyone cares. I wanted to confirm working 10.6.7 update on ECS 945gct-m3 1333 ver3 board. I did a fresh install of retail 10.6 with bootloader myHack ver 1.14 (important to use the latest ver of this bootloader and check the IOATAFamily.kext option under customize) then I used PCwiz DSDT GUI patcher to give me an DSDT.aml for my board I added it to the EXTRA folder and I also added EFI string for my video card to the com.Apple.Boot.plist and put that in the Extra's foler aswell. Once all this was done and I had a working bootable copy of 10.6 I used Carbon Copy Cloner to make a copy to another HD incase I messed up going to 10.6.7 I could go back to this point without going through all the initial work again. (remember if you have to restore from your backup you need to run the myHack bootloader on the drive to which you restored since the hidden boot sector doesn't get copied over). Then I downloaded the 10.6.7 combo update from apple and ran it. IMPORTANT do NOT RESTART after the installer is done. The 10.6.7 has replace USB related kext that will cause USB not to work and they need to be "rolled back" IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext need to be replaced by the previous versions from 10.6 in my case. Also IMPORTANT is I was unable to boot the vanilla 10.6.7 kernel. I had to use the patched 10.6.7 made by Nawcom (just google for it) remember to rename it to mach_kernel or to specify to use it with whatever it is named at your bootloader screen. Once I replaced those 3 things I was able to re-boot and had a working 10.6.7 system. Something I noticed through this process is that if your try to boot with the 10.6 kernel it will work but wifi was lost booting with the Nawcom patched kernel wifi worked again.

I have not been able to get audio on this board working past 10.6.2. I have tried various rounds of [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] Rollback (Audio, USB, Voodoo). 10.6.8 works but is very slow, 10.6.7 probably is the best one for me but with no sound. I too have an E2200 so only the AWESOME (thx nawcom, prasys) legacy kernel works.

 

 

Anyone had any luck with 10.6.8? Haven't had probs w/ any of the other updates as long as sleepenabler is removed, but this one totally hosed my system- just comes up to a blank screen. Tried several boot options but nothing worked. Luckily I had just done a TM backup before installing it, so I reverted back.

 

Also- anyone know if this board will be "Lion-ready"? especially given the fact that I'm running an Allendale E2200 (dual core, but not core 2)- and an older geforce 6600 GT. Thanks
