well, guys I made a new installation and now it seems it works good...

I want to thank mrjanek for this special wonderful guide... with hackintosh installation I feel like a two yeaqrs old baby, but with janek's guide I made my hackintosh... if I was able I'm sure that everyone in the world can make his hack! Thanks from Rome!

That's terrific, slataper! Sometimes it takes a few tries to make everything work. You can now upgrade to 10.6.2 without any problems. Download the combo update from the Apple site and install it manually - it just is safer to do it that way. Don't try to do it from Apple Software Update! And as a bonus, 10.6.2 runs better and faster!

Hello, I'm very, very new to the wonderful world of hackintoshing, and I want to make sure that Kakewalk will work for the system I have planned before I order the parts. I see that the motherboard I plan on using (GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5) is compatible, but I want to make sure the rest of the parts I plan on using are as well.

 

All these components would be compatible with Snow Leopard installed using Kakewalk, correct?

Also, I think you should do a Google search at the top of any InsanelyMac Forum page for the wireless board you choose. Some info is dated. It may apply only to a particular board, or only to 32bit and not for 64bit. Usually hardware that works OOTB for Leopard will work for Snow Leopard, but there are exceptions. You might want to search the Netgear WN311B as well as the ones I suggested earlier. And check the specs and reviews in Newegg.

Hey everybody, I have a quick question about repair permissions. I have had my hackintosh up and running for a couple months now with relatively no bugs other than a few things not opening up(not responding). I used Kakewalk boot formally known as gigabyte usb, and it worked flawlessly. Things slowed down a bit (sometimes) and usually a restart fixes this. But i was wondering if I repaired permissions, since I have a list a mile long and dont know what any of it means, if this would fix my problems. My real question is would it screw my implanted kext files or make my hackintosh not boot, or something scary like that?

I got kakewalk to work on my GA-P55M-UD2 with F7 Bios. (w/ 9800GT video card)

 

I cant get the Mac OS X 10.6 installer to work though with the kakwalk boot disc, the machine always reboots

when loading the installer DVD.

 

I ended up using tonymacx86 boot cd from: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/12/ins...ectly-from.html to install Snow Leopard.

 

Next I rebooted, installed the KakewalkBoot.dmg from the kakewalk cd, and everything is working now.

 

Not sure what the issue is with kakewalk cd and 10.6 installer DVD, but it definately didnt work for me.

Thanks a million!!! I feel much better knowing that. I have made the hackintosh my main for everything now and have so much stuff on it, I am a little afraid of doing any tweaking with it. But it runs pretty flawlessly other than a few hicups occassionally, even at 3.6 ghz 2000 mhz ram. I better leave everything alone if it works good now. Thanks again!!

Has anyone been able to get SpeedStep to work?

 

I'm using the GA EP45 UD3R with a Q6600 SLACR G0 at stock settings and the stock cpu fan is running full blast non-stop.

 

Anyone have any solutions?

so i just got the ep45-ud3p rev 1.6 bios fd

system specs:

q6600

8800gt

6gb ram

250gb hd

ps is 700w

using $29 upgrade disk

(no access to a mac)

 

it only gets about half way through the install and then it blinks a gray screen for just a second then it restarts ive tried it four times with kakewalk and gigabytecd. any thoughts? thanks

 

(update: had to install with an old 7600 to boot then installed 8800gt after) i dont know why but it works

...I'm so unlucky, my hack restarted to make the mad... I turn on and when os. is starting appear the message of restarting or it stops on the blue screen... has anyone some idea about the reason of this?

There's probably something wrong with the files that are being added to the ISO during creation. I'll see if I can fix this.

It's a limitation with the Chameleon bootloader. It's not a big fan of partitions >1TB.

After the machine boots and before you select the DVD or USB for install, type a boot flag "busratio=22" (without the quote marks) then hit Enter. Once you upgrade to 10.6.2 you won't need the busratio flag.

My steps:

 

created kakewalk boot cd with p55m-ud2 option

burn cd on another hackintosh (based on ga p45-ud3lr)

boot on p55m-ud2 machine (configuration as described sooner)

change to SL dvd

F5

busratio=22 (on bottom line appears)

enter

boot dvd..... after 10-15 sec computers restarts

I have tried using your files to install on an EP45-DS3R using an Nvidia 9800gt.

I know the mobo isn't listed as compatible.

My main problem is after I upgrade to 10.6.2 I am faced with a black screen and a pointer.

If I press the power button I briefly see the desktop before it goes to sleep, if I then press the power button and wake it up everything is fine.

This only happend after I set the screen resolution to the correct (1920*1080) for my monitor.

I hope you can help.

For some reason the search within this topic is throwing a error, so I apologize if it has been mentioned, but I missed it while scanning the 80 pages or so.

 

Does this method support multiple graphic's cards? And if so, does it support nvidia and ati (apple officially supported?)

 

I am currently using a ati4870, even though the kakewalk install was done with a 8800GT (mac efi) in it at build time.

I've since added a 9500GT, which shows up (well sort of) in about this mac, but no display output on the dvi port. If I remove the ati card, then it works fine, anyways, just not sure if they need to be the same family or not, I've noticed a couple of the other tutorials claim no dual video card support, so I thought I would ask.

You cannot reset the resolution when there is only one to choose from.

I found some software that will not install on my Kakewalk install. The software refuses to install because it requires an Intel Mac. I am running a EP45-UD3R with a Intel Core 2 duo. Anyone know how to fix things so I can successfully install the software?

 

The software giving me problems is Neo Player. Neo Player is a free CineForm decoder that works with iMovie and Final Cut. You can get the free software by searching google for Neo Player.
