farukp
Hi. First of all thank you very much for this guide and the software. I tried this guide but did not get to the installation process. while booting the install cd with the gigabyte CD bootloader the screen goes BLACK. I then installed with the Empire EFI Bootloader and then installed the gigabyte of the gigabyte bootloader CD and the sound worked perfect on my UD3R. As soon as I restarted, the screen went BLACK on login or just before that. I than again installed the Empire EFI Bootloaded and that worked then. How come I cannot get this to work? How about Update to 10.6.2 from 10.6.0. Can I just do the update ? Thank you!
mikedddd
Still getting the error boot0 : GPT boot0 : testing boot0 : testing boot0 : error This is with the USB install on a UD3R 8500 processor, 4 gb ram, 8800 GTO video card, PCI GA311 ethernet card. Tried flagging the partition in terminal to boot, but no effect. Any ideas? Best, Mike
artmusic
Many ,many Thanks for this wonderfull Tutorial ! You are a genius ! First I try the DVD guide- but no effort at all- I can boot with the boot cd, but not with the installed boot loader....always kernel panic So I make it work with the USB Guide- all is working ! ( I plug off before install the second SATA Drive and the second DVD Burner on IDE- it seems this is sometimes disturbing the install process - you can plug it on after install ) some advice for others- do not format your snow leopard drive with Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) ONLY your thumb drive ( usb) ! Why I wrote this? - you cannot install Adobe CS3 for example ! So I have OS X 10.6.2 on a Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR GeForce 9800 GT 1 gb 8 GB ram 2 SATA Drives 2 DVD Burner- 1SATA , 1 IDE Again- thanks for your work !! xbench result: http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc2=416678
leafhound
Wich videoport is using? VGA or DVI? Had same troubles using VGA port. Changed to DVI and the problem was solved/. Hi to all, guys! Hi, Mrjanek! Have fully working system (v1.0 installator version). But recently i noticed one thing: system shows wrong CPU Freq. I have Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93 GHz but it shows 2.27 GHz. Has it any impact on my perfomance and how can I fix that bug? And secondary. I`m also having troubles with sleep mode and usb-devices plugged in. System is always warning me that my device was removed not in a proper way. What version of your putch have I use? Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to you Mrjanek, and to all, guys! What Motherboard are you on?

Alex566
Sorry if this has already been asked. I looked through the thread but might have missed it. System: GB EP45-UD3P nVidia 9800 GTX+ Intel Core 2 Quad 3.0 GHz I followed your guide and got everything installed. This was the first time a hackintosh install ever worked for me. I booted up and got to the desktop. I have a monitor designed for 1920x1080 and OSX booted as 1024x768. When I tried to change it, that pale blue screen came up and wouldn't go away. I reset the computer and when I booted up it was 1920x1080. So then I updated it to 10.6.2. Bad mistake. When I bootup, I get a black screen with the mouse. No matter what I do it won't go away. Luckly, when the computer falls asleep, it wakes up to the desktop. I though it might have been a problem with the install, so I reinstalled. Works perfectly. Only problem is that when the computer falls asleep, it won't come back on. I have to reset the computer. 1. Is it normal for the blue screen after changing resolution? 2. Does 10.6.2 break compatibility with my hardware? 3. What was up with the black screen? 4. Is the sleeping problem normal? Thanks for the guide, it is amazing. And sorry if I am asking to many questions. I just can seem to find any answers.
mikedddd
OK, so I tried the CD installer instead of the USB installer and I get the same boot0 error. I've tried changing the SATA ports used, flagging the partition. Running out of ideas, anyone got a clue? Best Mike
mrinsanelymac2
Hello Mrjanek you seem to have done a fine job here. So much so I'm thinking about ditching the motherboard on my current Dell System which I have failed miserably to convert to a dedicated Final Cut Express hackintosh box. See my posts here. I'm planning on buying a EP45-UD3LR board (but was considering EP45-UD3P) with a new GT 210/220 graphics card (for transcoding, Bluray, Final Cut work, etc) and transfer the old PC bits to it. I have a few questions if I may regarding your install method: 1) If I bought a EP45-UD3P would both graphics slots be supported ie. ability to use SLI mode? 2) Would a GT 210 graphics cards be Quartz Extreme enabled using this method and the EP45 boards? 3) Would I be able to utilise the HDMI output and DVI or VGA simultaneously (thinking about running a video presentation onto a tv whilst doing work on my monitor)? 4) Is there a more compatible card you could recommend? Your answers would enable my core 2 duo macbook (GMA 950) take a breather from all the hard video work its been churning through over the last few years. All the best to all the ppl keeping this topic alive! Hi guys. anyone got any ideas for the answers to the quick questions please?
ovo
I have a 5870 radeon that I know wont work but I want it in my system for gaming Ive read that there can be problems putting nvidia and radeons in the same system? what is my cheapest no brainer solution, a 4850? is there something cheaper? also: I want to do this on my 1T drive, can I partition it and put win7 on one and osx on the other? I haven read that I 'cant' do it but I got the impression some where that I should do it on a seperate drive for each os cheers, Im new to all this but just about got all the parts I need together at half the apple premium

As for the 5870, you might want to check out the posts on netkas' website. I don't have an ati card so I cannot help with that. I have not managed to install both windows 7 and snow leopard on the same drive. The problem is you need to format your drive as GUID to install snow leopard, and installing windows 7 on a GUID (as opposed to a MBR) drive is a pain. I am dual-booting by having windows 7 and leopard on one MBR drive, and snow leopard on its own GUID drive, and using chameleon as a bootloader. If you really want to have them on the same drive, you can. It involves installing SL on another hdd and then restoring it to the MBR disk; haven't tried it but will be doing it on my work pc soon. What's your motherboard? Sorry if this has already been asked. I looked through the thread but might have missed it. I followed netkas' guide, i.e. make sure that sleep enabler is removed, updated using the combo update and repaired kexts using kext utility before restarting. I did not use software update. 3. That seems like a video issue but I have a GTX 200 series card so I used netkas' graphics enabler. 4. That sounds like a sleep enabler issue. Hello Mrjanek you seem to have done a fine job here. It requires some work - both physical (removing video cards) and virtual (efistudio and dsdt editing). I'm still working on mine since I really don't want to have to remove one card whenever I want to boot into SL. 2. I used netkas' graphics enabler for GT200 series cards and all is working great with my GTX 285. I did, however, use an old 8800GT to get SL installed before switching. 3. That, I don't know. 4. I don't know about that either.
bbscience
First of all thanks for the great package. This was by far the easiest install ever, excellent work. One question, regarding ram speed. I'm having trouble getting SL to recognize my ram as 1066, instead of 800. I'm 99% sure that I have everything in the BIOS set up right...timings, OC voltage, etc. But System profiler always shows only 800mhz for ram speed. Is this cosmetic or do I need to keep tinkering with my settings? And will SL attempt to update the speed with a reboot or would I need to reinstall for it to be corrected? Running on an EP45-UD3R

mrjanek
1. Is it normal for the blue screen after changing resolution?3. What was up with the black screen? 4. Is the sleeping problem normal? Sounds like some problems with the DSDT.aml file. As I've mentioned before I don't own any of the other motherboards just the EP45-UD3LR. This means that I can't try them out to see if everything works. So it's a lot of guesswork. But I will investigate straight away and I'll have a solution soon.. hopefully Happy new year everyone!
