wangerman
Have you updated to 10.6.4?Are you using the VGA port or the DVI port (assuming you don't have a card with 2 DVIports)? Does the com.apple.boot.plist have: <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> and what injector are you using for nVidia graphics? running 32 bit or 64 bit kernel? Thanks for the replies I am running 10.6.0 and am plugged into VGA port do have an adaptor for dvi though I have not tried the boot.plist where do I find it and how do I edit it ? I tried using nvinject 512mb didn't work then loaded osx86 tools and tried to insert the efi string for 8800gt and then 9800gtx but neither work I would feel stupid if it were as simple as editing a fie or just updating the os Oh yeah also running 64bit kernel Thanks for the replies guys most grateful

Look in S/L/E and see if you have this driver / version: NVDANV50Hal.kext [v1.6.2.35 (18.6.5f11)] If you do, the 8800GT and the 9800GT should be natively supported. If you have an older version, update and check again. Keep updating untill you have it and then you should be good to go.
ProjectY
I've also started working on a tool that will help the hackintosh savvy of you build packages for your motherboard and send a request for the motherboard's and the package's addition to Kakewalk. This will help a lot as the it is hard for me to keep up with all the changes as there are quite a few motherboards supported by kakewalk. It will also make it easier to add support for more motherboard models. I will review every request and add the ones that work to an 'unstable' version of Kakewalk. Once the package is fully working it will be added to the 'stable' version. Win! I'll also be spending some days next week to solve the sound issues. Cheers, mrjanek I'll see what I can do! Hi mrjanek How is the Project (Tool) going. Have you made any progress Ray

recoilfx
GA-G41M-ES2l rev 1.4 - no audio, ethernet I just recently put together this build with Kakewalk - everything is working except that Ethernet and audio devies are not recognized, wake also only works with power button. I get these on my kernel log: kernel[0]: AppleRTL8169Ethernet: Unknown hardware version ID (2c000000) kernel[0]:AppleRTL8169Ethernet: probeHardware() failed I don't care too much for the onboard sound, but it's rather a bum to not be able to get the ethernet running. I've already tried to install RealtekR1000Sl.kext with the kexthelper. AzaliaAudio package didn't help on the sound either. I also tried to down grade my BIOS version from F9 to F6, still no go. My specs are: e6600 2.4ghz Core2Duo 2gb ram GA-G41M-ES2L Rev 1.4 Nvidia 8800GTX Any ideas?

It worked for jacoverse - see his post #79 here - http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...20199&st=60 I know it's a different board and different lan driver, but it just might work! Can't tell until you get desperate enough to try it, lol!
recoilfx
I've actually managed to get the ethernet to work by installing realtek's official mac os x driver. Unfortunately, it seems that when I got it installed, I couldn't wake up from sleep anymore. Computer tries to wake up, lcd is still blank, gpu fan on full blast. You might try replacing the IONetworkingFamily.kext file. Can't tell until you get desperate enough to try it, lol! But... This worked!!! I got the 8111D driver from that thread and i t looks like everything including sleep is working woohoo! Thanks. I've also discovered that wake up from USB1 devices are fine, but USB2(EHCI) devices are not. So I can't wake up using my Alu keyboard, but if I have my mouse connected directly to the motherboard (so it's at UHCI), the mouse can wake up the computer. I looked into System Profiler, all the USB controllers are listed as Built in too. None of the usb removal warnings too when I wake up. Strange, I really don't know where to start on fixing this problem though. Tried couple DSDT hacks that came with DSDT SE, none of them seem to work. PoloBear
I have the same USB-Wakeup problem...with the plain installation mainboard USB could wakeup the computer, after applying doods Speedstep fix DSDT the processor is 10 °C cooler, but USB wakeup is no longer working.... So I have rather the cooler CPU, wakeup with powerswitch is fine... I also tried different DSDTs but no luck...

Going Bald
But I have to use Chameleon when using mac too? Not if you don't want to. You can use any bootloader you want to - just install it rather than the kakewalk bootloader in the last step. You can even make the Windows install your primary by using EasyBCD to add OS X to the MBR of Windows. There are at least 4 posts on this forum that describe 4 different ways to install 2 or more OS's, both on a single drive and on multiple drives(3 of them I wrote as I tried out various setups before I found one that suited me best. You don't have to go all the way back to page 1 - I think they are all after page 90, so you only have 80 or so pages to read, lol!

Going Bald
Ok thanks Does kakewalk take care of drivers for everything? Not if it's new since v2.2 was compiled - for instance, some rev 2 boards the lan chipset changed to 8111E - no drivers for it in Kakewalk - have to hunt them up and install yourself

SeanieB
Hi, Just got a new Gigabyte GV-R485ZL-512H (ATI Radeon 4850HD 512 MB) to replace my old 7600GS. I have a GA-EP45-DS3L. I can install Kakewalk fine, even get perfect video (native res, acceleration ,QE/CI, transparency, resolution changes) on 10.6.0 with the ATI.app tool that comes with Kakewalk. I can not update at all. I've tried: 10.6.1 update 10.6.2 combo update 10.6.4 combo update (via software update) and every time I update at all, I am left with either a white or garbled screen. Safe Mode still works, I have to boot the installer, and the system in Safe Boot until I run ATI.app after getting the boot loader installed. Then I can boot in normal mode. Can anyone give me any advice on getting my system to update past 10.6? At least to 10.6.2? (Safe Mode = -x flag in boot loader)

zondaf
Hey guys, Kakewalk looks very simple. I did try it and that did not work for me either. I know I'm doing/missing something here. I have been attempting for 15 hours straight and had no luck installing the OS on my clone tower. How do any of you make it seem so easy. I'm a Windows guy who wants to move to MAC desperatly. The hardware I have should make it easy to switch over! I have the following hardware: Motherboard: Gigabyte (GA-EP45-UD3L) Video Card: BFG GeForce GTS-250 (OC) 1GB CPU: Intel (3.40MHz) Pentium D 950 Drive: WD 500GB 32MB SATA2 Opticle: LG DVD-RW-DL SATA I know I have the right BIOS options set and do not change after each installation re-boot. I have used a few boot CD's to attemp to install the OS: Kakewalk 2.2, EP45-UD3v3, EP45UD3P_Snow_Leopard & Snow_BootLoader. It's when I place my Snow Leopard 10.6, or Kalyway 10.5.6 or iKtk05 10.6.3 the installation starts and there are so many options with diff. kernels, LAN, Audio, Video, so on..... Install alway finishes and re-boots the system. Than I get the white screen with the apple logo and it freezes. I think it's a kernel panic of some sort. I want to get to a point where I have a desktop first, than worry about the rest later, like LAN, Video & Sound. I know I'm missing something here; can anyone help? Thanks,
