my system is GA-X58A-UD3R Nvidia GTX465 12GB RAM 1TB HDD

I used kakekalk with the mobo specification and it gives me a kernel panic before I arrive to the SL installer.

Someone can give me a hand? The method is using a CD.

Successfully updated to 10.6.4 using the full combo update from Apple. I did have to reload the AppleHDA kext to get sound back though.

Upon the reboot the speaker icon in the menu bar was originally black then as it was loading went to grey. Sys prefs showed no audio device again, reinstalled AppleHDA and the icon went from grey to black and operational without having to reboot.

Funny thing though, it appears as if 10.6.4 actually removed Apple HDA because as kext utility was running, it showed that AppleHDA was not found.

My setup.

EP45-UD3L (using Mac Edition BIOS)

Q9550 (standard clocking)

2 x 2GB Corsair 1066

EVGA NVIDIA 8400GS

1TB WD Black (single partition)

would you mind posting the link to the update you used? i think i used the default one by accident and i want to use apples new facetime app

install with max. 4GB RAM ... if Mac OS X running you can put your ram back again in the board.

if you have the possibility use USB method.

'BUMP'

Greetings all,

Latest SL update failed and now I cant boot the OS.

I get the 'this disk is being made available to you with limited functionality' message when put into an external drive and looked at on my MBP. eg. I can only read the disk.

anyone else have this problem? SURELY IM NOT THE ONLY ONE?

Or do I just have to say goodbye to that OS?

cheers

EP45-UD3LR ALC888 SnowLeopard 10.6.4

delete from Extensions the same file and use this.

Can we implement this into Kakewalk 2.3? :D

still wait for HDMI problem? anyone? HDMI freeze osx11

I have a EP45-UD3P tried your sound drivers and they didn't work, I NEED SPDIF out/Dig OUT,(USING TOSLINK CABLE) Doing a new install again with the snow disk and will not update Will wait for anyone to reply. Of all the kexts etc i have used have never seen the SPDIF red light up when looking at the SPDIF port on the back of the MB.

What am i missing? :(

Has anybody gotten the Kakewalk USB method to work on an EP45-UD3P rev 1.6 running the FE version BIOS? I bought a Snow Leopard DVD (is 10.6.3) and successfully installed, but after applying the 10.6.4 Cumulative update I can only boot in safe mode. The KP I get on boot is:

ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::PushCPU_cstmta_CST Evaluation failed

com.apple.driver.AppleTyMCED(1.01d8)

com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily(1.30)

com.apple.iokit.IOCPIFamily(2.6)

com.apple.driver.IOPlatformPluginFamily(4.1.2b1)

I also get a "Can't find SMBIOS" even though there is an smbios file and in verbose mode even says it's reading the file (shows correct path and says it's reading the file).

Rig is:

EP45-UD3P rev. 1.6 BIOS FE (Built in LAN doesn't work at all in previous revs, under windows 7 too, also fixed mem timing problem)

Intel QX6850 Core2 Extreme Quad @3.67GHz

4x500MB RAID5 Windows :D

1x500 Mac OS on ICH10

2TB eSATA backup drive (on jMicron Controller)

Plextor DVD writer on ICH10 SATA

LiteOn DVD on IDE

BFG GTX285 -Works great at 2560x1600 WoW with full options and rez is so pretty :D

This was set up originally with the lifehacker 1.0 method that gave me a fully working machine (on FB BIOS which now breaks my ram and my ethernet) that upgraded flawlessly through 10.6.4 without so much as upgrading chameleon past RC2 rev1. Worked beautifully until the adobe acrobat uninstaller/upgrade crashed and the system slowly degraded till it can't boot outside of safe mode. Just for kicks I tried the original lifehacker usb stick again, but it doesn't like BIOS FE either. KP right after POST.

Any hints on getting this working would be much appreciated.

Where did you download the bios from? According to Gigabyte here: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-pa...x?pid=3137#bios there is no FE version BIOS.

You should be able to install, but you won't have the right DSDT for your mobo. You can use several different methods to extract one from your board and post it on Tonymacx86's blog here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4463 and check back in a few days to here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt.php and you should be able to find one for your board if you ask nicely, lol.

With the right DSDT and the Kakewalk install CD you should be able to get it up and running. If it doesn't work for you, try tonymacx86's #####+##### method from here: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/

It looks like they pulled the FE BIOS. Now there is a beta FF in it's place. I'm wondering if I should just wait for the FF BIOS to pass beta as I don't want to be on an unsupported bios version. Gigabyte Tech Support had me install FE, lol. Actually, as I have no idea when Gigabyte will finish FF, I'll extract and ask nicely :)

Thanks!

Why not go with the FD version for right now? What improvements does the FFb version offer over the FD version? Is it anything you would be worried about or have problems with not having? If the answer to questions 2 & 3 are none and no, then the answer to question 1 is no reason whatsoever not to.

I have no ethernet (important) and my ram runs underspeed 800 vs 1066 (unimportant) with all the bios versions prior to FE (though I used to having fully working ethernet, ram at 800 and stably running windows7 64bit and osx 10.6.4 with everything on FB). I really don't want to rma my board if software will fix it. I have 7 drives, a raid5 for win, 2 dvds, and a host of other {censored} that I really don't want to disassemble (I'm one handed atm after an injury put my left hand in a splint for the next couple months.) I'll include a copy of my DSDT.aml if any kind wizard would care to work some magic for me :D

Have you tried lnx2mac's port of the RTL81xx dirver from Linux into SL? You can either download it from his blog or use tonymacx86's ##### to install it.

I noticed your comment on the GA-G41M-ES2L; I recently installed the Kakewalk 2.2 on this same board with v1.4 bios F9 using the stick method. The install went flawlessly except for not having lan or audio. The new bios does not alow to set "SATA RAID/AHCI Mode" to "AHCI".

Has anyone been able to fiqure out what can be done to fix the lan & audio issues or possible a bios fix for the GA-G41M-ES2L?

Thanks

Thank you for your support, lan is working!

I installed the lnx2mac's port of the RTL81xx kext and the lan is working flawlessly.

Earlier I found the file AzaliaAudio.pkg and the audio is working fine now.

Thanks again.

Updated mine via Software update and went as expected, no sound after reboot. Reinstalled AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.3 using Kext Helper and sound is back again. Everything else works great.

Hello, i want to install SL 10.6.3, i have the retail disk, iatkos v3, ideneb 1.3 10.5.5. I have an i3 540 with P55 MB made by Dfi Lanparty DK T3eH9, 4 gb ddr 1333, 8800 gts 320mb g80.

Ideneb 1.3 runs perfect on my configuration except the quartz extreme that says it's not supported, realtek alc885 (i didn't found the driver yet), and ethernet intel 82578DC Gigabit PHY.

If i don't have Gigabyte MB it's posible to work also on my PC ?

Thank you very much for your understanding, today i sold my old e4400 and Asus p35 for this new configuration just in order to install Snow Leopard, i'm desperate.
