thank you so much.

 

but i'm still on 10.6 because i do not have internet ( my usb wifi is not working on this motherbard ) so i can't update?

 

anyway, i did it, and still no sound.

 

on motherboard, audio front panel should be plug or unplug ?

 

 

 

edit : in system info, the usb wifi key is there.

I did the update by downloading it ( macosxcombo 10.6.4 ) on an other computer.

 

Still no sound, i did again the guide you gave me

You have to go through all of the steps, If that does not work I cannot help anymore.

 

To Restore sound on 10.6.4 for Motherboard EP45T-UD3LR

 

 

1) Re install KakewalkBoot -30-04-2010-04_34_am

 

In KakewalkBoot2.2 Folder

 

2) Reinstall with Kext Utility 2.4.2, AppleHDA.kext 1.7.4a1 Sound 10.6.4 OK

 

Drop AppleHDA.kext onto Kext Utility let it do its thing.

 

3) Run Diskutility (in Utilities Folder)

 

Choose the (Kakewalk) hard drive

 

Repair Permissions ( have a cop of Tea/Coffee it takes Up to 10 Minutes)

 

4) Reboot.

i did all those stpes, twices. on 10.6 and 10.6.4

 

 

for step 2.

i take the applehda.kext and put it over the icon of kext utility and i enter my password.

that's correct ?

 

if yes, it's what i did.

edit : i reinstall kakewalk and reboot, then it worked. :)

 

thank you. i will try to found a solution for my wireless usb stick

 

found !! i have to run in 32bits not 64

I hear there are lots of issues and kext workaround need, as discussed on this support thread.

 

Is it worth finding an old Revision 1.0 of the x58a motherboard? does it not suffer from the same install issue?

unable to get the kakewalk legacy installer to work past the initial splash page with the instructions -

 

KAKEWALK

 

1. Eject the CD

2. Insert Snow leopard DVD

3. Wait for it to spin up and press F5

4. Select disc and enter

 

I do what it says and insert snow leopard DVD then press F5. Nothing happens. Cant get past this stage!!!!

 

My system specs (freshly built just now) -

 

Gigabyte EX58A-UD5, Gigabyte 9800 video card, WD Raptor 300GB (for OS), WD 2TB Blacl drive for storage, I7 920 processor, 6GB Corsair Ram

 

I have followed the kakewalk bios modifications.

 

please advise on solution to installer issue? thx

Is it worth finding an old Revision 1.0 of the x58a motherboard? does it not suffer from the same install issue?

 

The board is supported - it is the little brother of the X58A-UD7, the difference is the UD7 has 2 ethernet ports, the UD3R has only one. The difference between the UD3R rev.1.0 and rev.2.0 is the ethernet driver. You will need the RTL8111E driver listed in Other at the bottom of the page from here:

it says for 10.5, but works in 10.6 for 32 bit (don't know if it works for 64 bit)

 

If you can't get Kakewalk for the UD3R to work, try the UD7

Now I am trying to install without the chip using Kakewalk.

 

My system:

GA EP45-DS3, NVidia 880GT, C2Q Q8200 2,33 GHz.

I tried the install by thumbdrive, and the install went without any problems. When i restart without the USB stick the boot proscess stops at "Verirying DMI pool"

 

 

I note that only EP45-DS3L is listed as supported by Kakewalk.

Does anybody know if it is major difference between EP45-DS3 and EP45-DS3L?

 

Any other tips to get my computer working again???

After install you have to boot from key drive 1st time, and then install the boot loader on the HDD where you installed osx

Hello all, I am brand new to the forums here obviously but I was hopping someone might be able to help me out with a bit of trouble I am having using this kakewalk USB method

 

my machine specs:

Intel I7 930

Gigabyte x58a-ud5

12GB corsair dominator

gigabyte nividia silent cell 1GB 9800 GT

Intel X25M 80Gb SSD system drive

 

I have followed the installation instructions to the letter, I chose UD7 for the bootloader option

when I try to boot up it hangs every time at "verifying DMI pool data"

I have googled this and cannot find a definitive answer

any help would be so greatly appreciated

no, I mean I am not even getting to the install, it just stops at verifying DMI and will not boot to USB stick.

Please check in your BIOS that the USB is your FIRST drive

Ya, like I mentioned I followed the guide to the letter and triple checked everything, I set all the bios like the guide said and followed all the instructions.

I set all the bios, install and set up the thumb drive, set it to boot to the usb thumb drive 1st and my install HD 2nd, and when it trys to boot up to do the install it just stops and the verifying DMI.

At this point if someone wants to make a few bucks I'd probably pay someone to hop on the phone and work with me on this.

 

Probably no need for that, i had the same dmi error issue, try doing it as a bootable cd.

It didn't not make sense as to why it would work, but it did.

System seems a little slow after install. Xbench score is 163. I think it maybe plist and dsdt.

ok I got the CD booter to get me to the boot screen where it says eject CD and insert Snow Leopard and wait for spin up and press F5 but when I insert Snow leopard DVD, nothing happens, and it never spins up and I can press F5 till I am blue in the face and still nothing.

Seriously, if anyone wants to make a few bucks I would be willing to paypal someone some cash to hop on a phone and walk me through this, everyone talks about how easy it is and how successful they are but I am not so convinced at this point.

 

If there is anyone that could possibly help me through this somehow I would be so greatfull

2 ways

1) Plug in both ps2 and usb keyboards.

2) adjust the bios to support USB.

mind if I ask what you mean by adjust bios for USB support? I mean I can use the USB Keyboard which is a new mac aluminum for what its worth, but I can use that jsut fine to get into bios as it is, so I would assume USB is working fine.

what does the PS2 keyboard bring the the table?

Ok, it seems to be stable and network is working and sound believe it or not, however I am getting that famous UD5 squeal running OSX, when I was just running Win 7, I disabled the C1E CPU Enhanced Halt state in the bios and that worked wonderfully, however now running OSX Leopard its back with it enabled and disabled both, any ideas by chance?

and the squeal happens when I click stuff, open app, browse web pages its the typical gigabyte squeal as famous on the web but I have no idea now how to solve this on the OSX side of the house. Thanks again.
