cableguy187
Hi guys, I usually don't ask for help and try to work it out myself but I am stumped.. I have an I7 930, GTX 470, x58a ud7, 6 gig corsair 1600 ddr3.. i have tried everything and get quite far into loading from the osx dvd and then get the "restart your computer" screen?? I have disabled the usb3 and everything else not needed, set the HD to port #0 and dvd to port #1 on the sata connections, triple checked the bios settings (all ok) and updated the bios. Any other suggestions?

chhuong
Okay total Noob here! i have a few questions. I just installed osx using this kakewalk. My setup, is core i7 920, gigabyte ex58 ud5, 6 gigs of ram, 1tb hdd, sapphire ati 4870, so everything installed without problems all i did was select my MB. what are some kexts that i will need to update? as of right now, everything seems to be working, but not sure what to look for or to test against to see if everything is fully functional. Actually 1 problem, after awaking from sleep my usb keyboard is no longer working. Any ideas on a fix for this?? Also wondering if there is any way to change the boot screen from the gray apple screen? Any help is appreciated!

skees
Recently did a Kakewalk USB install of 10.6.3 on EP45-UD3L with 2GB RAM and GeForce 9500 GT. Install went smooth and so far every thing looks to be working great with one exception so Far iCal ... Also i imported my 10.5.8 G4 user settings and files from a local HD. On the first boot and at some periodic rate i get an error dialog "UpgradeUser quit unexpectedly" (see attached error.txt). I seem to also constantly get error message saying "iCal Helper failed" and when i try launch iCal i get "iCal cannot be opened because of a problem, see attached error.txt for Apple error reports for all events. One common theme to all of these errors is: Symbol not found: _AOSNotificationCreateSessionPriv I went back and did another install on USB disk with out any User settings migration and created a new user to see if i got any of the errors. I did not get the UpgradeUser but still get both iCal errors. I was using iCal with it set up to point to a beehive webdav and it would be very nice if i could get it to work again. Over all the process was excellent and remarkably clean and simple ... cudos for a job well done here! Thanks for any help with iCal. error.txt

cableguy187
Ok, I pulled out my 8800gts from my working mackintosh and the install is about halfway completed. So, after I get the os working, what would be the next step to get my 470 up and running?? Or, is there another compatible card I could buy? Money is not an object.. About to go and buy the 27 in iMac and be done with it lol, Just as a matter of principal, I want to finish what i started !!

I cant even get the installation to start ( tried boot disk as usb did not work)I keep getting the restart your computer error. Is there a good noob guide someone could point me to I am happy to do more reading and keep trying but I can not get any further at this point The "You Must Restart Your Machine" in multiple languages is known as a kernal panic and occurs when the system doesn't know what to do and can't continue - same as Windows "Blue Screen of Death". At this point, you have a couple of viable minimal effort options - if you are in a hurry and want it working NOW, then replace the video card with a supported card: i.e. the nVidia GTX285 or the ATI 4870 are the latest that OS X natively supports, but there are alot of older (less expensive) cards that you can use - see here: http://www.insanelymac.com/osx86db/search?category=4 If you are in no hurry, you can wait until the end of July or sometime in August when the MacPro 5,1 comes out and see what cards are supported - yours might be one of them. Alternatively, you can put more skull sweat into it and study up until you are fairly confident you know what is what, sit down and make a step by step guide for yourself from directions given on the various forums and just "Go For It!" If you never try you can never succeed.
jmag999
I have been using this install with no problems for some time now. My motherboard is a EX58-UD5 with an nvidia card. I haven't booted into OSX in a couple of weeks and have since updated the bios to F12. Now when I boot I get (4) EBIOS read error: Device timeout messages before it boots into OSX. Everything works fine after that. Does anyone know how I would go about finding out what is causing this? It takes a long time to boot as each message takes ~30s to appear. I still get the messages even when booting from the kakewalk boot disc. I assume it has something to do with the bios, but I have reset all the settings and ensured all the settings matched the ones listed in the install document. Thanks for any help! hahler2
Ok I updated my computer from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 and I'm getting a kernal panic now and the computer won't boot. I'm running a EP43-DS3L board and using an Nvidia 9800 GTX+ video card. How do I fix this? I'm kind of a noob and have no idea where to go from here. Also, I have some very important data on my hard drive that I can't remember if I backed up online or not. I should be able to pull the hard drive and put it in an external hard drive bay and mount in on my Macbook Pro so I can at least recover the data correct? AaronDCanuck
X58A-UD3R rev2.0 and Kakewalk 2.2 (Thumb Drive). Halts at Verifying DMI Pool Data. Verified all settings in BIOS are according to the guide. They are Guidetastic. UPDATE: INSTALL SUCCESS! 1) Installed LATEST Kakewalk 2.2 from THIS thread onto thumbstick - NOT the one from the Kakewalk homepage. 2) Plugged thumbstick in to the black USB port closest to the PS/2 ports - Thanks to Phorte for that one! 3) In BIOS, set First Boot Device as Hard Disk 4) Under Hard Disk Boot Priority moved the thumbstick to 1 That seemed to do the trick. Sleep works! Now just gotta get sound and ethernet working...
