hey there again,

got my rig working so far except: using the digital outs (hdmi and/ or dvi) on my graphiccard won't allow me to attach my monitor with a 1080i resolution. it gives a blank screen after the apple bootscreen. seemingly a problem of my 9800gt gpu.

anyone for a solution?

This is my first try at a hackintosh. I have been a Mac user for a long time, but I am tired of paying such money for something that I can build for cheaper. I recently bought an Alienware cpu. I wanted to see if anyone can help me with the install of OS X Snow Leopard. My specs are below. Let me know if this is possible.

Intel i7 920

Motherboard is an x58 Tylersburg

12 gig ram

Nvidia Geforce GTS 240

What would be the best method to do an install? I already have a retail OS X Snow Leopard install disc.

Thanks in advance!

anyone? i'm really needing some help with this.

anyone? i'm really needing some help with this.

I'm no expert here... actually still tweaking my hackintosh/ windows xp dual boot... trying to get it just right :) for over a month now!!! The tuts on here are great, but it seems that when one guide get everything working except say USB 2.0... the next fresh install and guide that I try with a different approach fixes USB2.0 but now my graphics don't work... same {censored} but different each time... VERY FRUSTRATING and it seems no one on here has any experience with a Maximus Formula 2 board (P45).

My advice to you my friend would be to find the guides that deal with Core i7 CPUs... while the motherboard is an important factor... its unlikely you'll find a guide for that exact one. You may have to try several ones but theres a good chance it will work.

Time is the important variable in this equation as you have to teach yourself what others cannot... and keep in mind this community is always expanding into newer and newer hardware... you just might be the first to install on your specs... maybe write a guide and help out someone else down the road or the community in general. The installation methods are very mix and match... you just have to find what works for you.

hello all. sorry if my english is bad. im trying to build my hackintosh and cant for the life of me get it to even boot the apple screen. i have

x58a-udr3

i7-930

9800 gtx

no cd drive

16 gb cruzer hard drive

normal keyboard

usb logitech bluetooth mouse

1)i partition the drive with GUID and then tried again with MBR

2)restored snowleo 10.6.3 to it and

3)then installed kakewalk.

but i never get to the apple logo screen. i always get stuck at verifying DMI pool data.

i wanted to install the snow leopard server but i was not even able to install the kakewalk installer when it was the server install disc that i used to restore.

i also have and IDE cd drive i can connect to it but not sure hwat setting to put in bios

not sure which version my bios is if that matter. but i tried few bios settings, nothing has worked

anyone have any thoughts and can help me plz

okay. some new development

i have been at this non stop and discovered a few things. its bad to mix ide and sata so i removed ide cd drive. but the usb boot disc i made with kakewalk was still not bootable. i read somewhere that the x58a-ud3r and x58a-ud7 are very similar. so i picked the x58a-ud7 files on the installer and the usb suddenly became bootable. i tried it a few more times and each time when i pick my motherboard(x58a-ud3r) the usb disc was not bootable. so i decided to use the ud7 files on my ud3r board. installations happened but i could not finish registering because i was using a ps2 keyboard. i got a usb keyboard and here i am writing from my new snow leopard. now my graphic card does not appear to be installed. and i have no sound.

1)does anyone know if it is because i used the files for the ud7 on my ud3r board. if it is then is there a way to fix sound or should i return my board and get the x58a-ud7 since the installer for the udr3 does not work.

2)and how do i go about installing my 9800 gtx (is the osx86tools compatible with kakewalk?) im not sure if i should still use it because its a discontinued project? i get an error that says "AppleScript Error

system events got an error:cant get property list item 'kernel' of property list file 'library/preferences/systemconfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist. (-1728)"

anyone can advise me plz especially on sound or getting a new board. and if the ud7 is 100% compatible. thanks in advance. i will keep on posting back as i try new things and see if they work

what exactly do you burn to make the kakewalk cd?

because there isnt an .iso file in the zip file.

some help me clarify?

thanks in advance

you have to dl the cd version. then the pkg will make the iso for you to burn. its basicly just the bootloader on a cd then itll ask you to put in the osx disk.

You'll have to restore a retail Snow Leopard DVD to the flash drive. You'll do that through Disk Utility on a mac. Format the USB stick Mac OS Extended Case Sensitive. Once the format is complete, simply restore the USB drive from the Retail DVD and you're set. THEN you can run the Kakewalk CD installer, select your MB and install to the USB stick with no trouble.

Hi VinP14

Kakewalk does not use RAR Files ??????/

Ray

I downloaded Kakewalk from this topic. the download is a RAR Archive. I open it up and inside are all the files. there is not one ISO file to burn to a disk. nothing. I even opened the Instructions and it says "burn ISO to disk" but there is no ISO files.... at all.

Thank you for making such a great installer.

I have installed SL 10.6.3 on my Gigabyte G41M-ES2L motherboard. Everything is working fine except Sound. I get no sound output. On System preference's Sound section i get "No Output Device" and "No Input Device" message. I have used kakewalk version 2.2 for installing SL.

What should i do? Should i use external Graphic/Sound/Video Card? as this time everything is in-built.

Thanks in advance.

There seem to be several approaches to fix sound:

Some Kakewalkers have installed the Kakewalk 2.2 boot pkg (from the first post), booted with -x -f and got sound. On a rev 1.1 G41M-ES2L this method gave me kernel panics on boot and rendered my installation useless. So if you want to try this, be sure to have a bootable backup on a second HD.

I installed the vanilla AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.2 with #####, built a new kextcache with Kext Util, rebooted and sound worked.

Good Luck!

I have the EP43 UD3L and the ATI 4850 display card and used your USB method for installation. I can only use safe mode to get into my installed SL (mine is the retail 10.6.0) and if i try to boot normally, it will either hang at the white page or end up with a broken cluttered white black + white screen if I used the -v toggle.

I'm using the HDMI output as well.

I'm not sure what have I done wrong. Is it my display card or it's because the HDMI port?
